  1. There is only one disc. This might be trickier than you thought. I have the same question. Do I uninstall the original & then reinstall everything, or just do a dirty install over the original? EDIT: Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit; the UE disc has an instruction sheet in it saying that after installing it keeps your old saved games, which suggests that we can just install over the original.
  2. Victor always disappears for me, too, but it hasn't caused me any problems. I always just figured that he decided that I finally figured out how to use the elevator myself and moseyed on to more pressing things. As for the Omertas, does your quests list say to report back to Mr. House? If so, then restart your computer and try again. That usually works for me when I get the same problem with other characters.
  3. I got the new Ultimate Edition today, after figuring up that it was cheaper than buying all the DLC's from Steam. I have three questions: 1- Do I have to uninstall New Vegas and then install the Ultimate Edition, or can I install U.E. over my original install? 2- If I uninstall/reinstall, will I lose my current achievements and have to start all over, or will the new install of UE be able to find my current Steam account and pick up where I left off? 3- Are there any big new bugs or other annoyances in the UE which will cause me to regret installing it? Thanks!
  4. Novac is reminiscient of Barstow with Helios One and the big thermometer, but I don't think it is actually supposed to BE Barstow. That gives me an idea for a mod: after getting Helios One up and running, you could get requested to kindly escort Mr. Fantastic to Barstow to fix the other old Helios Solar tower station. ( the real life one ) Fixing it would be great, but they really just want to be rid of him. On your way, some Novac person hears of your trip and asks you to pick up the big thermometer near there and bring it back to replace Novac's broken one. Fantastic as a companion? Awesome. Naturally, along the way, stuff happens. Just an idea for a framework, really. People who live there could give more ideas based on local stuff they know.
  5. ARRRRGH!! Where were all you guys when I was trying to make a "Mission to Masser" mod for Oblivion? ( there was a REASON Umbacano really wanted all of those statues, you see ) I wrote the whole thing out but couldn't get a lick of technical help. :( Ah, well.. it looks like this is cooking good. Congrats and good luck.
  6. "The Institute" is M.I.T, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. the Commonwealth is that area around it in Old Mass; Boston, Concord, etc. It got nuked, too, but enough survived thanks to eggheads & old money making a fine combination, and finer bunkers. That's pretty much all we have on it.
  7. I can't figure this out for the life of me. The directions say to first select the weapon, and then to select the mod, and presto! However, nothing happens. I can't select the mod. I can select the weapon, but not the mod, and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
  8. That actually makes perfect sense. Hmmmm... still, I'd like to see him. Maybe he needs a quest kinda like the one in Morrowind where a forgotten Prince needed his shrine rebuilt. Yeah, that would be perfect!
  9. Well, Sheogorath is back with the other daedric princes, but there's no sign of Jyggalag. What happened? At first I assumed that this Sheogorath was just your old Oblivion character after 200 years, but with no Jyggalag, I have to wonder... Is Jyggy just too good for us, and doesn't want to bother with giving us a quest? OR Did he get re-zapped by the others and once again transformed into Sheo the minute your old character's back was turned ( or when you died ) ? What do you suppose happened?
  10. Skyrim has no trainers with skills over 90. What's up with THAT? As usual, one of the first mods we need is for allowing us to train more than 5 skill points per level. Next we need some trainers who can take us up to 100. ( qualifying quests optional ) Oh, and don't forget some supercharged alchemy equipment. I also have an idea about skill books-- This will be tricky, but how about "recharging" spent skill books after gaining 5 levels, to account for being able to understand the stuff that went over our heads the first time we read them? Does that not make perfect sense? Recharging at every level is probably a lot easier to mod, but would kinda get out of hand.
  11. What is your OS? XP or Vista or Win7? If XP, then upgrading to Service Pack 3 solves most of the XP/Fallout problems. Which version of the game do you have, Basic or GOTY with all the DLCs? If the latter, there is a glitch in the Mothership Zeta part that crashes the game upon startup due to something with GFWL ( games for windows live ) There is a patch to download that fixes this very easily. I had to use it myself.
  12. Okay, Agatha has her spiffy new violin and folks can hear it for miles. In a clear night, I'd bet her signal can reach ever further than normal, like say, all the way to West(ern) Virginia, land of the hillbillies. My mod idea? Bluegrass Jam Session! What if some other survivor musicians from the hills occasionally hear Agatha's broadcasts, and they have their own little band? What if they decide to make a trip to Agatha's to see a real Fiddle and play some music with her? Agatha's music is so haunting and sometimes dreary. It would be great if she could spice up her show with a few jaunty toe-tappers. I think it would be awesome if a few weeks after getting the violin, the lone Wanderer could swing by for a visit, only to find that Agatha is not alone. Oh noes! Her home has been invaded by Swamp folk! Waitaminute... something's off a bit here... Take some swamp folk from Point Lookout, and clean them up a bit. Give them clean clothes and combed hair, and give them each some sort of improvised instrument. A guitar, a banjo, a washtub Bass, a tambourine, maybe a mandolin or dulcimer, stuff like that, and arrange them in Agatha's house to form a bluegrass band with their new fiddle player. You know how Agatha will play her violin for you? Well, it's time to strike up the band! Make an animation of the whole band playing something that swings. By the way, they're recording it so you have to keep quiet. After the song, they all thank you for finding the violin and making their band complete, and Agatha thanks you again as well, not only for that, but for finding her a new batch of friends. Then she kicks you out so they can continue their recording. After that, add about 10 cool old bluegrass songs to her regular playlist, to liven up her channel. Why? Because it would be immensely cool, of course. Also, I just long to see the famed Soil Stradivari get "abused" in this fashion, and it would be hilarious to watch Agatha saw on it like Charlie Daniels. Anyone crazy enough to try this? I can offer a list of suitable songs which would not only be good for this, but which most players would probably enjoy hearing.
  13. I have only one request: 1-- NO STEAM, or any other online requirement to play whatsoever. REALLY stress this one. New Vegas made a lot of people very angry.
  14. Florida! A post-apocalyptic Disney World would be something to see, along with beaches, swamps, city ruins, mutant orange groves, mutated manatees, cape canaveral, cuban supermutants, giant pythons and monitor lizards.... what's not to love?
  15. It was Anna Holt. Seriously. She was one of the scouts sent out by 101, but she returned to make her report. Now she's out there in the wasteland, presumably having left again, and I'm further assuming it was after the vault was closed again. She would have had the knowledge needed to escape, and we already know that she's a bit, er, morally ambiguous.
  16. LOL! I think he just left it out since it was so obvious, but you never know... Anyway, there are a number of things which keep broken Steeel from starting. Check the Fallout wiki for a comprehensive list of causes and cures.
  17. I wasn't thrilled with Solstheim, so the prospect of Skyrim doesn't exactly make me tingle in anticipation.
  18. More precisely, Dagon was the prince of Tamriel, not Nirn. Nirn is a world made from the leftover remaining parts of several worlds which were destroyed. Tamriel is only the last piece of the world that Dagon ruled. ( Well, the Black marsh part is from another world, but it got lumped with the rest of Tamriel. )
  19. It depends on the mods. Most can be loaded all at once, and most can be added during a game, BUT some won't work until a new ganme is started, just like in Oblivion. Unlike oblivion, though, if you change a mod during a game, it will reset the mod. That is, if you have a mod with some loot in a room, and you clean out the loot, but then tweak the mod, the room of loot will respawn with the new mod's effects, which is potentially handy or disastrous. All in all, though, in most cases you can keep adding mods during one game.
  20. Since we're stuck with Skyrim, then I hope we get Horkers, and better horkers than we had in Solstheim
  21. If you are modded in pretty much any way, then it won't work. All you can do is use a console command to skip ahead a bit. Type, without the quotes, " setstage SE11 160 " That will get you to the point where you can grab the wood. You won't get the sword ( or axe ) though, so then it's " player.additem 95360 1 " for sword or "player.additem 9535e 1" for the axe.
  22. Yes, a fire. A big fire. A big magical fire in a special place in the temple. When lit, it keeps the Daedra from being able to invade Tamriel. It is magically linked to the Emperor, and is snuffed out if the Emperor dies. Therefore, if you wanna invade Tamriel with a bunch of Daedra, the first thing to do is whack the Emperor.
  23. The effects from something else. I also don't mean being in a permanent state of augmentation, but having the effect set as normal. Fortify agility 10, for example, resets the agility score 10 pts higher, and the "fortify" effect vanishes.
  24. 1-- If you kill a critter with FIRE, then : A-- it should not have a pelt, since the fur all burned off B-- the meat should be cooked. At least on rats and mudcrabs and maybe boars. maybe sheep and bears if the fire damage is high enough. Cooked meat should have slightly different alchemical properties than raw meat. Next, How about a potion of permanency? Drinking this rare potion would make permanent any magical effects in effect at the time of the drinking.
