  1. I haven't built a gaming rig yet, so I'm speaking purely from my experience on my tablet with keyboard: I'm really enjoying the User Interface of Windows 10 a lot more than Windows 8. The start menu is back, and the oddly frustrating "tile" menu is gone. The Windows 8 "tiles," or whatever they were, were oddly frustrating in a way I can't explain. I can't speak for any other features like Edge or Cortana; I use Google Chrome as my browser. Maybe I will try Edge in the future.
  2. I don't know a lot about indie development, but I have often thought about the expatriate lifestyle. If you're ever looking for a bit of change and live in the U.S., ironically the thing to do is perhaps look inside your own country first. There's a lot of diverse climates, cultures, and economics going on in different parts of the U.S., and you don't have to go through any complicated hoops to experience those things. I don't know anything about the Philippines, though. Sometimes ideas seem really enticing from our point of view, but if you were stuck in their shoes over there, you might find yourself missing home (or the conveniences we have here). Every country has its upsides and downsides. The cool thing about the U.S. is, if you are unsatisfied with where you are, there are many more options to try out before crossing an entire ocean. That is only my point of view though.
  3. First off, let me thank you for being so civil and honest in your opinions. To answer number one, *and i am not a cop, but have friends and relatives who are* "If" is usually not an option "if" will get you dead if you bump up against the wrong guy. To answer number two. (according to my "cop" friends)...."You are exactly right, but that wasn't exactly the case with Brown. There were a lot of "if's" rolled up in that scenario, "if's that can get you dead IF you aren't correct in your judgment. ... Again, TWO perspectives at play here. Yeah, it's a tricky issue; cops are humans too, and I imagine the job would certainly be terrifying at times. I predict that there could be a lot more of these types of incidents in the future. With the advent of body cameras, though, hopefully there should be enough evidence in the future to quell any protests in the cases where the civilian happens to be at fault. In my mind, the perfect solution would be a type of robo-cop; robots don't have feelings and could be perfectly programmed to deal with these types of issues, and no humans would have to risk their lives to do the job. That is a huge step, though; many people are distrustful of robots with movies like The Terminator or The Matrix. It could be a gradual transition, so that current officers can keep their job to retirement, but any new positions are filled by robots. Kind of a pipe-dream, for now, though.
  4. I think you have to take a minute and look at this from the cops perspective....Brown had just robbed a store, was walking down the middle of the street like he owned it, refused to take to the sidewalk when asked, reached into the cops car (to grab his gun?) when pulled by the cop, runs away with a bullet wound to the hand after, then turns and charges the cop (allegedly). What would you do if your were the police officer? Remember, Brown was a big strong dude, do you wait for him to get to you before you pull the trigger?? Oh...and how did the cop know he did not posses (in the moment) a firearm? Not trying to stray too far away from the topic, but I'll try to address these points with my own opinions: 1. I don't have any training that would qualify me to become a police officer, so I don't know how I would react in that situation. But if I could, I'd call backup if I couldn't deal with the situation by myself in a satisfactory manner. Satisfactory meaning nobody dies. 2. How does a cop know that anybody does or does not possess a firearm? Any random stranger can pull out a gun and start shooting without any warning. Mere suspicion doesn't warrant gunning someone down. Back to the subject, I believe the protests were necessary to give the subject matter national attention, but I'm sure they could have been organized better to not interrupt local businesses and such.
  5. Off-topic for a second: Everybody has a right to life in this country, regardless of whether they are a "thug" or not. Regardless of what gas station they stole from. Regardless of how "unruly" they could be. When an unarmed person of any color gets shot and killed, it's a travesty. I could understand if they had a bomb or a flamethrower or automatic machine gun and are harming others, but unarmed? Why not just call for backup to help subdue the suspect instead of becoming judge/jury/executioner and killing them on the spot? Where's the due process of law? Heck, the Boston Bomber got more due process..... On-topic: I don't think I'm exactly comfortable lumping all protesters together. All it takes is one person with a flaming bottle to ignite a frenzy, but not everyone there has a motive to loot or destroy stuff. While many might have been breaking the law, I'm sure a good many were also compliant. And shooting tear gas canisters anywhere and everywhere isn't exactly going to de-escalate things; people do crazy things when they are afraid.
  6. I've got a 1.4GHz processor, Intel HD integrated graphics, 2 GB RAM, with Windows 8 on my tablet, so my specs are worse than yours. My game runs pretty good even outdoors, although oddly whenever I turn my view my FPS takes a momentary but significant dip. My first unrelated suggestion is, even if you don't plan to get any mods at all, at least look into the "Morrowind Code Patch." This is a mod on the Nexus site (one of the top rated mods, too) that fixes the Morrowind executable by eliminating bugs and glitches, but it also includes various other options for improving the game. It's a must-have, in my opinion, and every option it comes with is OPTIONAL and thoroughly explained. It's an .exe file though, so I'd recommend scanning it with your favorite anti-virus, if you do use it. When you run the .exe file, it pops up a big checklist of all the options; you check the ones you want, click the "apply patch" button, and it makes a backup and then modifies the Morrowind executable. My second suggestion to you is to edit the Morrowind.ini file located in your Morrowind folder (make a backup first!). This is the configuration file for your game which includes various graphical and game options, more than what you can control from in-game menus. It's a simple text file and easy to configure, although it can look somewhat confusing at first. There are many guides on the web to editing this file, so play around with it to see if you get any better performance. I can't help any more than that, I'm absolutely terrible with computers, and also bad at describing things. Although, here is another topic related because the person in the topic also said they have very similar FPS issues (although they have graphics card): http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/285375-fps-issues-with-modern-hardware/
  7. Instead of a mandatory military service where it takes a lot of money to train and outfit soldiers into efficient killing machines, why not instead invest that money into giving every citizen a free higher education with the stipulation that each student receiving education for free has a mandatory community service (helping people/the environment) either at home or abroad? That would give everyone a chance at continuing education, it would improve our communities, our foreign relations, the value of each individual citizen overall, and the future of our planet. It's really a no-brainer.
  8. I like to think that confidence is also built by failure. Failure is experience, which translates to knowledge you can pass on to other people. If you tried to invent a light bulb 1000 times but failed, you could have written down your failures to present to other people so that they may use your experience to further work on that project. Failure IS valuable depending on how you view it, even if it does not eventually lead to success. I also believe that confidence and self-esteem CAN BE two entirely different facets of one's personality. Some people might inexorably despise themselves for their failures or lack of abilities which translates into a low self esteem, but other people may think highly of themselves despite their continuous failures and lack of confidence. It all depends on their frame of reference of what it means to be human, and if they can love themselves for that. For instance, in a chess tournament of 10 people, since only one person can win, does that mean the 9 other people should hate themselves? They may not be confident in their chess-playing ability due to lack of success, but at least they had fun playing and contributed to the game as a whole.
  9. I can see stuff like GPS tracking really come in handy. What if you were travelling to a foreign country (or even walking down your own street!), and got kidnapped and forced into slavery or torture? Wouldn't you want the government to know where you are so they could rescue you? If they offered me a chip to put into my fingertip or something so they could track my location, sure, I'd get it.
  10. I can't speak for others, but I value self-esteem higher than confidence. I'm not a confident person. I'm a tiny fragile bag of bones and organs (that can be killed by things I can't see), stuck on a rock hurtling through space towards who knows where, with little clue about why I'm here or what I'm supposed to be doing. But gosh darnit, I love myself.
  11. I completely agree. Anyway, I'm 24. I think I have a fear of being in public, so the Nexus and games in general have been a godsend for me. Thanks to all the people, young and old, that make up this community of enthusiasts and content-creators.
  12. I just bought Morrowind and Skyrim on Steam with the holiday sale, but seeing as I'm on a tablet, Skyrim was an investment into future gaming and Morrowind was for the now. I had played Morrowind on Xbox way back in the day. Having played both Oblivion on a laptop that died and Skyrim on both the Xbox360 and Playstation 3, I feel like returning to Morrowind is a huge breath of fresh air. I just installed it and some mods and started testing. It was my first time installing and using mods, ever!!!!!!!! I'm super excited. It doesn't seem to run too bad on my tablet, even with the integrated graphics (Intel HD). I like the original game, so the mods I'm using are minimal. Some of them were a pain in the butt to find. Here's a small list (names aren't all accurate, I'm sort of summarizing what they are for): 1. Morrowind Code Patch 2. Morrowind Patch Project 3. Official Mods (minus LeFemm armor and Entertainers, no interest) 4. Better Heads and Pluginless Khajiit Head Replacer 5. Better Bodies and Better Bodies for Beasts 6. Better Clothes, More Better Clothes, and Better Morrowind Armor (to fit Better Bodies) 7. Replacers for Azura, Almalexia, Dagoth Ur, Dremora, and Vivec (to match Better Bodies/Better Heads) 8. Better Governing Attributes and State-Base HP (HP no longer reliant on how soon you boost Endurance) 9. Khajiit and Argonian Beast Power Toggles 10. Hollaajith's Weapons and Armor Overhauls (with included patches for Better Morrowind Armor) 11. A mod that allows you to store information about Trainers in your journal 12. Skyrim UI Overhaul for Morrowind After I finalized my mod list, I consolidated them all into one compressed folder to make future installs easier, rather than installing each mod individually. I'm not using any Graphics Extenders since I'm on a tablet. My goal was to fix bugs, improve the user interface, and dramatically improve the character/armor/clothing models. I feel like the mods I used accomplished that, but only from minor testing, I haven't played very much yet. My tablet specs: Processor: Intel 1.46 GHz RAM: 2 GB 32 bit Operating System Windows 8 Integrated Intel HD graphics (no dedicated graphics card) I hope it doesn't melt my tablet (I love this thing, with it's own attachable keyboard), I really want this game to last. I capped my FPS to 30, hopefully it will increase stability.
  13. Can't choose just one... However, I love the original Final Fantasy Tactics for playstation. The characters were amazing, the battles were tough, the story was crazy and the music complemented it very well. I loved the amount of thinking I had to do to get my characters ready for battle, and I loved the consequences of each and every decision during a battle.
  14. I didn't vote as I haven't played World of Warcraft, but in general I'm very wary of MMOs. The reason? Continued development of the game can make it more interesting, but it can also ruin what you once liked about it. There's something precious about turning on a game that you own that won't suddenly change overnight and ruin your experience with it. That's why I'm never wasting another second on an MMO (even Elder Scrolls Online). Sure, it might be a good game now, it could even have an excellent community. One day you might wake up to log in to find a new update that destroyed your character, soon later your friends leave, the community becomes lackluster, and all those hours you have spent trying to make something of it were fun at the time but turn into bitter regret at all the time wasted. I used to play RS a long time ago. They have more content now, but the cash shop they added and some recent updates make the game seem very cheap and transparent...
  15. Personally, I can see any race of character joining either the Stormcloaks or the Imperial Legion. However, my main problem is trying to figure out how I can be in all of the side factions at once while siding with either the Imperials or Stormcloaks. Going into details would reveal too many spoilers (forget if I'm in the spoiler section or not, going to be careful), but for example: -Siding with the Brotherhood almost seems made for a Stormcloak playthrough, and very illogical for an Imperial Legion playthrough -The Thieves Guild is in the pocket of Maven Blackbriar, who is allied with the Imperials, making a Thieves/Stormcloak playthrough misguided -The Companions seem more Stormcloak aligned (given their roots) -The College of Winterhold seems a bit more neutral, but tensions with the Synod of Cyrodiil make the College seem more suitable for Stormcloaks So even if I was an Orc in the Imperial Legion, it would seem misguided for me to join the Dark Brotherhood, the Companions, or, to a lesser extent the College of Winterhold. I'm stricly speaking from a role-playing perspective, here, but it seems like to get the most content out of a playthrough, I'd have to join the Stormcloaks because many of the factions in Skyrim, save the Thieves Guild, seem much more reasonable to a Stormcloak character. Either that, or I'd ignore the Civil War altogether and be a neutral force, but then I get to the issue of being some weird jack of all trades Mage/Thief/Assassin/Werewolf-Warrior type of character.
