  1. Make your items static and you will never have that problem. It's pretty easy really ... (just sounds hard)

#1 Find any static item and move it to where you are.

#2 Go into the base (there is a button when you edit it to get to the base) of the item you wish to put down and copy the path to the .nif file.

Do the next parts at the same time.

#3 Rename the static item you moved in (so it don't change everyone in the game).

#4 Now add the new path to the .nif file to the base of the static object.

When it prompts you to "make a new item?" click yes.

Now you have a custom static item that will never move. Now you may need make a .bsa file depending on what you used.

But that's a good thing. Also good for you for putting in the time to learn this stuff with tutorials.

Ok, that sounds simple to do since I'm pretty familiar with the concept anyway..thank you! The problem with the Blue Palace I was having turned out to be a bounding box issue. Also, I am now fairly well versed on navmesh thanks to those wonderful modders who are kind enough to make tutorials. This has been, and continues to be, a most enjoyable learning experience. I hope that soon I can post it on here for all to enjoy. I do appreciate all the help I've gotten with this..again, thank you so much!

  2. Oh, this may be the problem .. I'm not very good with navmesh and really need to learn more about it. I knew the green triangles at the doors where important, but had no idea it could affect the clutter and such. I will go dive in some good tutorials and learn more about navmesh, as I've been meaning to anyway. I will also checkout the occlusion planes too. You both have given me some places to start with fixing these issues .. Thank you so much!

  3. I'm currently working on a player house revamp mod which includes the use of several vanilla 'houses/Buildings' combined together to create a much larger space for the player. All except the original player house is underground. Everything has been going great, with only the usual 'noob/first mod' problems cropping up. Due to this I have watched hundreds of tuts and learned quite a bit, have even successfully created a few player/followers for my own games. Now, I have run into a couple of problems I just can't figure out..Help!?!

The first problem has to do with some clutter/food resources I'm using that look and act fine in the creation kit, but when I go into my test game they're all floating and moving through the walls of the house into outer-space! I have done the 'Settle don't Havoc' on them and everything else I know to do, all to no avail.

The other problem concerns the first underground connected building (The Blue Palace), once again, looking and acting fine in the CK, but in game testing the top floor has ceiling and floor pieces that are invisible. I can walk up the stairs to the throne room area and everything looks OK. But when I get up there the floor disappears and I'm walking on air. Before and after going up the stairs half the ceiling is missing. I assume it too is invisible like the floor and not just completely gone!?!

I've been searching for answers to these issues for several days without any luck, so I now turn to you good people for help. It would really be appreciated and many thanks in advance!

p.s. I can, and will, include any pictures or anything else needed for you to actually see this problem if you will only tell me whats needed.

(Also..I mod/test on one computer and play the modded game on another computer..just throwing that out there.)

I have a cold and my head feels like

it's about to pop. A much better welcome

from me will have to wait until a later date.

( that sounds lame... I'm sure a few trolls

will get a laugh out of it )

I'm "...kickin' down the cobblestones, looking for fun and feelin' groovy...."

Really hope you enjoy your time at Nexus.

I have a feeling I'll be one of those staying for years too! LOL I LOVE it here.. :-)

    Welcome!

Your avatar's attire looks good. Are you designing outfits as well? Splendid looking. What creation tools do you use?

I finally found some time to post to each of you. My avatar is actually my in-game character. I have several wonderful mods which I used including Apachii Divine Elegance Store, KS hair, Elegant beauty stunning eyes, etc.. I would love to eventually create my own clothes and such, but for now I rely on others who have put out some great mods. I've gotten pretty good with the CK and now I'm trying to learn TES5Edit, and Nifskope. :-)

I decided to see if I could muster up the memories to do modding again. I got the same mental pause at first; when I saw the first stage of learning to do it. If I had gone with the old duffer mentality; that some of the elders get into. I would have stopped there and seemed stuck in a stupid stare at it while it seemingly was overwhelming me.

Just like when I was a child, I suddenly realized; I was in AWE! I regained familiarity with the CK tools and began to ponder how easy it would be to get the mind engine revved up; to get the mental machine working smoothly.

Then I took a peek in my folders and discovered I had planned to study NifSkope. Just for fun I went to the GitHub page and found the latest version. While I was there I discovered a link to a webpage that the NifSkope creator has with version 2. all ready and able.

I can see you're going to have a lot of fun. Learning. I was having all the exciting creative thoughts swimming around my head while I spent an hour a day, relearning each of the controls for the Construction Set, for the last three days. I found UNP, CBBE, and body slide equipment, and clothing tools. More modern stuff that just razzle dazzles my mind.

    I want more!

I'm going to nap now. I have a lot of dreamy ideas to view and I can do it much better letting the visions of sweet rolls dancing scrolling across my eyelids, when I am in my nap mode.

DCOnline, You have a Great time!

    Nap time!

my goodness, we seem to have something in common..I do my best thinking while in that 'half-asleep' mode too! lol Your post brought forth memories of my own, as when I was first contemplating on diving into modding it was a bit daunting and I wondered if I could actually do it at all. Even though I've been a computer buff most of my life, for some reason modding always seemed to be out of reach to me. Now that I've gotten into it I wonder why I was so hesitant. Its tons of fun, and not near as hard as I thought it would be. I am still having some issues in a couple places, which is why I've not gotten anywhere near ready to post any of my work. But I will get it all resolved at some point I'm sure. In the meantime, I will have all the fun I can with it and strive to turn out the best work I can. Cheers and good wishes to you..

  6. Hello from another noob! Sorry I can't offer much advice, except to say that the more you work with modding, the faster you'll get with it. It does get easier as you go along, or it did for me. I've not posted any of my work yet, still just not at that stage. I am having a blast not only learning, but hanging out on the site here seeing what others are doing and/or chatting with them. There are a lot of great people here who are eager to help in any way they can, so don't hesitate to reach out to them, or even me too if I can help you I will. Other than that..Welcome to the site, hope you have as much fun as I've been having! Cheers..

  7. Welcome.

Don't hesitate to contact the resources' authors.

    Which games do you mod?

At the moment I'm only "trying' lol to mod Skyrim. Its coming along nicely so far, with only a few kinks to work out. I jumped right in with both feet and started not only a custom follower, but also included a house for said follower to live in as well. I have the hang of designing and creating my vision, however I'm having a couple issues with navmesh and saving. Its little things I'm sure I'll figure out once I find the right youtube video haha.

  10. Thank you all for the great welcome! At the moment Iâm only using the creation kit along with a few resources I found on here to mod Skyrim. Iâm also trying to learn how to use TES5Edit and Nifskope. At this point YouTube is my best friend lol. Iâm working on adding my sister to Skyrim along with a house for her to live in. So once I get everything working as I want it, I will contact those I need to for permissions. I figured there was no need to bother anyone with that until I seen wether I could do this or not. You all have given me more confidence with your replyâs..thank you for that as well. I look forward to being a productive member of the community.
  11. I suppose I've done this a little backwards lol sorry about that! I've been on here for a while now, and I LOVE it! It seems to be a great community to not only share mods, but also learn about modding altogether. I knew NOTHING when I landed here. I'm still not to the point of actually sharing any of my work, as I'm a bit unsure as to how to contact resources for permissions and such..plus a few other things. The main thing is..I am having so much fun learning this! I really look forward to interacting with all of you, as well as offering any meager help that I can currently offer lol. Don't get excited though, I'm sure most of you know WAY more than I do at this point. But its great being here .. Cheers to you all!
