I re-ran through loot, I redid the merged patch and the bash patch, and I started a new game. Now, i don't see the glitch, but I still CTD if I remove the body armor. Hello everyone. I have spent a lot of time setting up my Skyrim and followed lots of guides and learned a lot. I'm just about ready to start a playthrough but I've encountered something strange. Screen shots: https://imgur.com/a/EyvQt There is a red and white geometric, transparent box around this bandit. When I loot him, I can take SOME of the things (gold, lockpicks, food, etc.). If I removed the "fur shoes", the box goes away. If I touch his armor, I crash to the desktop. I started a new guy and tried again -- using Live Another Life, this is "I was captured by the Thalmor". There's a dead bandit in a cart every time. Trying again, I had the same problem, even with his different loot. If I touch his armor, CTD. I've used Loot, I've tried to follow the (often conflicting) advice of the mod authors, I've made a merged patch and removed the leveled items, and I've made a bashed patch. I would love to be able to play with both of them ... but at this point I'm ready to cut one or the other or both out. Any help would be appreciated! Edit: Removing Immersive Armors (and the plugin included in guard dialogue overhaul) has removed the visual glitch. However, I still CTD if I try to remove the bandit's body armor (this time, plain vanilla body armor).

Does anyone have any ideas? Or a response to the question: Do I have to actually UNINSTALL my mods through NMM in order to see if something is causing the crash? Or is disactivating them enough? I am currently experimenting with uninstalling Static Mesh Improvement Mod to see if that might have something to do with it ...

I suspect I will get better results by asking here than on Steam. My problem is that I cannot approach Dawnstar without crashing to desktop. I've played several hours and experienced no other crashes. I had installed mods (around 50) with absolutely no problems (of course, deactivated all of my plugins to test this issue) -- I also used LOOT to check load order. I've already tried many solutions listed here -- I deactivated all plugins. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled SkyrimSE. I've updated my graphics card (Nvidia Geforce GTX 660Ti) drivers. I've verified the cache and my files are good. I use a clean save right after Helgen and I've tried running there, using tcl and flying there, fast travelling there, etc. I cannot get near the marker without crashing. I used the alternate start mod to quickly run back, and still crash. Does anyone know of anything else I can do? I don't want to get into playing this seriously, knowing I'll have to restart because I can't enter the fugging city. Do I have to actually UNINSTALL my mods through NMM in order to see if something is causing the crash? Or is disactivating them enough? I am currently experimenting with uninstalling Static Mesh Improvement Mod to see if that might have something to do with it ... Appreciate any help in advance. Even moral support. It's really frustrating!

I've read the mod posts compatibility for all of the mods I've installed, as well as the user comments to check issues people have. I know there are people with longer lists than mine that are successfully playing the game. As for NMM, I was under the impression that Mod Organizer was better than NMM in because it leaves the Skyrim folder pristine. The main game changing mods I would like to use are: Skyrim Redone Forgotten Magic Redone Hunting in Skyrim Complete Crafting Overhaul Locational Damage Helgen Reborn Scoped Bows TK Hitstop 2 Follower mods: Hoth Inigo As well as Amazing Follower Tweaks There are a few lesser ones I like the idea of : Staves of Skyrim SmartCast Better Vampires Werewolve Mastery The rest are visuals or small tweaks, such as inconsequential NPCs, immersive patrols, gildegreen reborn, etc. Is there anything very obviously conflicting with what I have listed here? -
I have spent the last week carefully learning how to install mods for skyrim and choosing which mods I want. I use Mod Organizer and I've been generally happy. However, I keep getting a CTD shortly after killing the first dragon and wandering around outside of Whiterun. I have completely reinstalled mods several times (both by making new profiles and by reinstalling some mods). I am using BOSS, cleaing with TES5edit, and even using BUM to set the order for some trickier mods. On two separate profiles now, I CTD at roughly the same spot. I use Hunting in Skyrim. I am on the quest to go find the Giant Mudcrabs (the first quest of the guild). After passing Fort Greymoor and heading west towards Sleeping Tree Camp, I run into CTDs. I thought it might be caused by a skeleton that summons a headless knight, but even after avoiding that area, I still crashed shortly afterwards. I do not know how to uninstall a mod though -- it seems that whenever I try, when I go to run the game, it tells me that something has changed and the game either won't load or it CTDs. What is the safe way to keep a save and uninstall a mod to check if it is the cause? I don't think it's a problem with my system, as the game runs great, looks gorgeous and has no fps drop. I guess it is a mod, but I'm sad because I like all the mods I have chosen. Any help would be really, really appreciated! Hello, I am experiencing a weird CTD that keeps happening. I thought it might have been due to mods, but I've changed some mods around and it keeps happening. Here is what it is: I am to the west of Fort Greymoor (west of Whiterun) and I come across a little stone circle area on a small hill with a skeleton standing there. If I attack the skeleton, a "headless knight" appears and comes violently after me. I am able to kill him usually. But shortly there after, the game CTDs. If I kill the skeleton before the "headless knight" appears, then I CTD. One time I managed to get a few minutes away from the circle area, but then CTD anyway. I saw online that some highlevel Draugr Warlock are able to summon this thing. I should also mention I'm using "Enemy AI Overhaul, revenge of the enemies, no script version" (found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40491/?) . I know that this gives enemies additional spells -- the Draugr in dungeons have been using shouts against me, even in the first Dungeon with the Golden Claw. Anyone have any thoughts on why this might be happening or what I could do about it? I'm hesitant to cut the AI mod because I like the added tactics. But I am also worried that maybe this speaks to a greater problem that will come to haunt me when I'm further in the game. As it is, I am currently only maybe 3 hours in. I was sure if this post should go here in SKyrim Technical help or in the Mod help, but to be thorough, I'm including my installed mods:

SkyRE: Only Short Bows (using reproccer)

Thank you Whismerhill. It was quite late when I wrote this message and I don't think I was as clear as I could have been. I agree with you and I that's what I wanted to ask. Is the sorter renaming the items and preventing them from being long bows. So, can I remove the sorter with the above mentioned tactic and carry on with my game? -
Hello everyone. I am new to modding but I've been reading extensively and experimenting successfully. I've managed to get my game up and running well with about 100 mods. I'm about 4 hours in and I've noticed I have no long bows in my game. My installed mods are found just here, but I have some suspicions: I installed Scoped Bows by OutLaw666, as well as his patch for SkyRe and his leveled list. I followed all the instructions and even muddled through with BUM to follow the order he suggests. I also installed REZ Sorting mod, as I thought it might be nice to have all of my arrows grouped together. I have done all of the cleaning, BOSS checks out fine, no dirty edits, and the game seems to run fine. If I understand correctly, the process is: Fiddle with installation and mod order -> run BOSS -> run Wrye Bash and make a patch -> Activate patch (I actually install it as a mod to get it out of the overwrite folder) -> THEN activate the reproccer and make a patch. I believe this should allow the reproccer to do its magic on all the items. However, in game, I only see all bows listed as : Shortbow - Hunter's Bow/Iron Bow/etc. (I even have Shortbow - Long listed ... which clearly doesn't make sense!) So, my questions are as follows : 1) Why do I only have shortbows? 2) Could it be due to the sorting mod only recognizing shortbows and therefore not recognizing long bows (ie - could they be named shorbow but still count as a long bow?) 3) How do I tell if a bow is short or long if I WASN'T using the sorter? (ie -- is that info listed in SkyRe itself? Or are we just expected to know?) 4) Finally, as of yet, I haven't allowed myself to get far into the game. I am afraid of uninstalling anything while playing because I don't really understand the mechanics running in the background, so I have just been completely restarting every time I make any modification to my mods. But, if I were to remove the sorting mod (which I don't think I like anyway), deactivate the reproccer, rebuild and then re-install the bash patch, and then rerun and reactivate the reproccer, would that be a clean enough method to uninstall this mod and still be able to keep my save? I hope I was clear.

Ah, so that clears all that up. I'm glad to know it won't change anything for modding purposes. Also, I DO in fact have (and love) Steam, so opening an account is no problem. I am a bit concerned about the language issue and I'm not sure who to ask or how to ask the question. Will I be able to download the game in English even if I live in France? My Steam account is all in English ... -

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand you correctly ... or maybe you didn't understand me correctly. I see that I can order the PC game from GAME (a UK gaming store). Are you saying that even if I buy the PC game from a retail store I would STILL have to play it on Steam? Because that sounds a bit strange ... not everyone in the world uses Steam. How could Bethesda force people to play through Steam? Also, the link you provided is interesting, but it's not really relevant to my question. I'm talking about buying a legal disc from a retailer. Any further clarification would be appreciated. *further note* even with some extensive googling, I still get mixed results to the question "is the PC version of Skyrim Legendary Edition Steam exclusive" -
I'm going to be buying a new computer at the beginning of July and I think it'll be powerful ... powerful enough that I can make Skyrim beautiful and vibrant and unique with mods. I've been reading a lot about adding the mods, but without a copy to test on, it's all abstract at the moment. Here's the meat of my question: Should I buy Skyrim (Legendary Edition) through Steam or get it on a CD? I live in France but my French is not good; I found out through Xbox 360 that Bethesda only does single language discs in Europe, so I'd definitely buy the disc from England. Also, I'm worried if I buy through Steam I may purchase a French copy of Skyrim instead of an English copy. Is playing with multiple mods made harder or easier with using Steam? I read a lot about load order, BOSS, different mods warning not to use Nexus Mod Manager ... etc. It's overwhelming. Most mods list your game data as being located in a Steam folder. I'm not sure if it's even possible to play on a PC without Steam.Any thoughts/opinions/advice would be welcome. Thank you!
