  1. Love Aerosmith! :D Currently listening to Europe's "Secret Society" They've still got it in 'em too!
  2. AFAIK, this thread being both Pinned and Official, posting in it is not classed as Bumping. Either way, the report feature is there for these things. Currently listening to lots snd lots of Pink Floyd, and a fair bit of AC/DC from the Bon Scott era
  3. OK so I chop and change a lot in my reading urges, but I'm now reading "Adolf Hitler, My Part in his Downfall" by Spike Milligan. I don't know how well-known he is (or was) outside the UK, but he is (was) one VERY funny bloke. To give you an idea, the Monty Python crew were enormously influenced by him. This is the first of 3 volumes written by Milligan about his real-life experiences (heavily spattered with humoUr) during the 2nd World War. Light reading with some hefty laughs :D
  4. All I can think of to say ATM is that I'm just so glad that everything is back in action (with a few improvements and apparently no loss of posts, settings etc!!!) On first perusal, the site looks sleeker and more space-age than GS. I will undoubtedly post again once I have seen more of Nexus, but for now *Huge Congrats* Dark0ne, good work! You've made my day :)
  5. (Don't think this counts as double-posting, does it? ) I've now finished "The Children of Húrin" after a brief rest from Tolkien. Now I'm back in full religious mode reading "The Book of Lost Tales II" soaking up more related lore :)
  6. At this very moment, "Escape Velocity" by Zetan Spore. Spacey didgeridoos FTW :D
  7. Just finished "The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner" by James Hogg. Written in 1824, it is said to be the precursor of the psychlogical thriller, and in my opinion is worthy of a screen adaptation. Good stuff.
  8. ...instantly commissioned a set of Liquorice Knuckle-dusters, a box of Fizzy Cola Truncheons, a Giant Orcish Chupa-Chups Battlemace and a bag of Pump-Action Jelly-Babies. He wasn't quite sure how this last item worked, but....
  9. I beg to differ, good sir! I had plenty of fun playing ICO (albeit short-lived) and hence part of my disappointment when I discovered that SOTC was such pants. o_O
  10. Just bought that brand new for 10 €uros, but me darned Xbox is up the swanny. Gutted! Looks a lot of fun :(
  11. Currently not playing very much at all, but I have recently been back on the consoles for a while, while my PC has been "otherwise engaged." 1) Zelda: Twilight Princess - Finished. Very good, but not quite up to OOT's standard 2) Shadow of the Colossus - Too crap to be bothered with. Quit after 4 Colossi 3) Driver: Parallel Lines - Quite a laugh, but not a patch on GTA
  12. Me too. Just arrived yesterday. It's mine! My own! My ppprrr.....
  13. ...she was busy potting pot plants. Not pot pot, but pot as in pot -- plant pot. Potty Harrer had gotta lotta pot plants, and Farrer Hotty had to pot the lot. But Potty was hot to trot, and fired up the Wifey-Fi. "Oh, Blast it!" yelled Oblastit. "What is it now!?!" He was just in the middle of conjuring up a Mulberry Daikatana when his Sticky Cellophone rang. It was Potty....
  14. (ooc> I totally agree with Pov. This is a neverending story, which means that it must have a certain amount of cohesion (continuing the story), not introducing new and irrelevant characters and storylines every post, and blowing them away with uber-nukes the next. It's all a bit of fun, and I don't want to be a party-pooper (it's hard to impose rules for something so free-form), but in order for this to be fun (for everyone) and neverending, there has to be some decorum and respect for what the thread is intended to be. Gabbe_master would turn in his Whoopsala if he could see what it's becoming. Perhaps someone could start a Neverending Nukefest and all interested could post there. In the meantime, I strongly feel that this thread should get back to doing what it says on the tin, because at the moment it is in danger of being obliterated by the Giant Killer Spamdonkeys from Hell. ) ic> ...Meanwhile, back at the ranch, somewhere to the left of Betelgeuse, Potty Harrer scratched his Hairy Botty. His wife, Farrer Hotty, brought him a cup of Hot-Tea, and they sat down to ponder the solution to global contamination - in particular that caused by the recent spate of Uber_nukings, character assasinations (geddit?) and unexpected distorsions in the space-time continuum. Grasping his left handed screwdriver, he went to the toolbox for a long weight.......... ........................ ......................... ............................ ......... .......for time heals all wounds, but no joy. This time it was different. A new strategy was needed....
  15. Coco Channel, or Channel Nº. 5 as it was commonly known. Interesting as it was, the programmes were mostly small, black and didn't cover very much in particular. But they were tres chic, and most people couldn't afford to watch them. The man...
  16. (ooc> possible party-pooper: Steady on, chaps! This is a neverending story, not an rpg :) )
  17. "Hey baby qué pasó....." With a nonchalant flick of his wrist, Xardes the Necromancer switched off his 56-inch flatscreen Orb of the Overworld. He could not stand to hear that theme tune once more this week. And besides, he'd seen that episode 35 times even before it had even been made, and now the re-runs were just too much. Humming " 'cos the eyes of the 'mancer are upon you..." he sniggered evilly and set about......
  18. ...huffed and puffed and blew his house in. The Wolfe-Brothers - Gene, Virginia and, um, Marcus - danced a merry shanty and....
  19. ....hung satin drapes, draped satin awnings, sat in white nighties or nights in white satin. He casually answered "none of the above" and they proceeded to enquire as to his experience with sheets, quilts, bedspreads and ......
  20. Some of Christopher Tolkien's additions to my library seem to have been more "freeloading" than actual contributions to his father's legacy, but if this is in any way as epic as The Silmarillion, it will be well worth it. I don't know how much of it will be J.R.R.'s work and how much will be endless footnotes by Christopher, but I shall DEFINITELY be buying it. Tolkien reigns supreme as the God of Fantasy, and thus is my offering to the closest thing I have to a religion. (and the closest I can get to mentioning that r- word on this site ;) )
  21. Shame on you! Tolkien is no king. He is GOD!
  22. You have to be in the mood for Lovecraft, as it can get quite heavy-going at times, but it is a definite must for any fans of horror, fantasy or the occult in general. I was recently given a 1933 hardback edition of "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" by Poe, which I shall move on to when I finish "The Dying Earth" by Jack Vance. Though really, it is sooooo good that I don't want it to finish!!! :D
  23. Phwak! Right in the Smalleys. Size 69, latex feather with hassles. I gnu that toaster, and the one quite fond of it. Rupert Dismay, the man I had beat up for the roll-off Tiny Tim..... oh God, I think I'm gonna faint.... As the light fades from the screen of Stuart's famous final scene, the set takes on a wan and poignant hue, with surrealistic undertones both dizzying and macabre. Something odd is happening... a world not akin to our own is rapping on the very doors of sanity. The set spins, his head reels, and all at once he finds himself.......
  24. Just finished "Past Mortem" by Ben Elton. Up till 4 am this morning, unable to put it down! Well worth reading. I will now move on to The Dying Earth series by Jack Vance.
  25. (EDIT, Reason: somewhat unsavoury, so to speak) ...several of their diners had been closed down due to rat infestation, which gave him a rather interesting idea:
