Personally I love your idea of "effect" staffs! I love it already, a powerful alternative to duel casting! Also, I think that enchanting staffs should give you more level up, currently its very difficult to level up enchanting by recharging weapons and staffs, especially compared to just making new weapons. TL;DR for scrolls -make readily available -make cheaper -make merchants carry more -make enchantable via paper + soulgems In terms of scrolls, Heres where I agree with you: -Scrolls should be made at enchanting tables -Scrolls can be made by enchanting rolls of paper, using soul gems -Scrolls could potentially need ingrediants to create -Should complement mages in that they can be used after you run out of magic, or before you use any magic. -Should complement other players in that they can cast spells without needing to have high magicka or magic skills. Personally, I see the following as a true incentive to use scrolls with or even over normal magic: -Skyrim's pre-existing scrolls exist to allow you to cast magic that you can't quite cast, perhaps becuase you don't know it or it uses too much magic -I think we should emphasize this, and make it an incentive to actually use scrolls (so you do not need to actually know the spell to make or buy the scroll, or have enough magic to use it, etc) I believe scrolls are not readily available in vanilla skyrim. So, there hopefully will be two reliable ways to obtain scrolls, via enchanting and buying. (and even up the amount of scrolls picked up by looting!) In terms of buying, I think it would be easy to rebalance the merchants. -The mod would allow a customizable percent which the scrolls value would be. Personally, I think 10%-25% of the current prices is about right! (The base value of a firebolt scroll right now is 50, which at lower-to mid speechcraft levels translates to much higher amounts. Even for 50 gold a pop, I wouldnt pay 500 gold for 10 firebolt scrolls! Id pay 50, 100 MAYBE! Remember, the scroll is for a SINGLE firebolt, which is NOT THAT POWERFUL. Remember how much ARROWS cost--virtually nothing.) Also remember that using scrolls dont even increase your level! -Additionally, merchants currently carry little to no scroll merchandise! I would like to see merchants investing in larger stocks of a single scroll, such as belethor carrying 15 firebolt spells one day, but changing it to say 10 summon fire atrianarchs the next. Specialized mage-type merchant should carry around 15 scrolls of many different types of scrolls, maybe less on more powerful scrolls In terms of looting, I think you could make it so instead of picking up an ice spike scroll you see in a dungeon, you instead pick up that same ice spike scroll except it would have (10) contained. Much like how skyrim consolidates items into a single drop when you drop large numbers of them. Customizable ofc, becuase who doesnt love customizable mods!? also it'd probably be rather difficult to do, but I'd like to see it be compatible with spellpacks like the Apocolypse spell package and Midas Magic. If any modder even takes interest in this mod idea xP (sorry for the long post xD)
