  1. Thanks, theskymoves, the reason for my add in this thread is that I, too, have experienced what you have written (above); however, through a number of threads on this topic, I have seen modders asking what about Nexus or the particular mod managers post a sticky kind of post to let everyone know... :geek:  ...so that so many of us do not have to search through all the threads helter skelter trying to troubleshoot what happened, :wallbash:(after the fact). If there was a standing post re status on the mod managers, then many would not have had to go through the trouble in the first place. Thanks for adding your 2cents. I think it matters to keep the conversation alive until the mod managers no longer break the game. Modder since 2011 here. Happy Gaming, All!
  2. I just rechecked whether there is any notice on DAO ModManager, NMM, and/or Vortex re the issue with all three of these removing DLC. This is just clarification, until I can locate whether any of these mod managers is fixed from the DLC bug. ... ... and also whether, if not, the devs might be so kind as to warn gamers using said mod managers. 1. The closest and best thing I see is that DAO ModManager does NOT list Dragon Age Origins as a supported game. At least that. 2. NMM still lists Dragon Age as one of its supported games. 3. Vortex also lists Dragon Age as one of its supported games. Repeating my instructions and experience: DAO ModManager removing my DLC from the Ultimate versions from Steam and from Origin is a known bug; I have been instructed by several Nexus support people to Not use NMM for modding DAO; And, likewise, I have received that instruction (to NOT use Vortex on DAO right now) re Vortex. I will keep looking, because IMHO Dragon Age Origins is the most immersive storyline in the Dragon Age games thus far. And, because of its age, but also because of its creativity, it remains a very fun game to mod! Happy Gaming, All!
  3. Agreed, wraithtdk@gmail... I have had to search over many different threads in the past, trying to discover the issue. Then Thandal, kindly reproached me for posting in more than one thread, because that is a rule for the forums. Even though I've been a premium member for a few years, I did not know where to look and what a disappointment to lose one's DLC! right? In my case, I paid for those individual DLCs too. So I was searching like mad over any and all the threads!  I will look to see whether the mod managers now boldly make clear that DAOUltimate will or will not work using said modmanagers. If they do now, I will post it here... Not sure if that matters anymore. But I wouldn't mind knowing whether I can play through with mods next time. All the Best to you and yours! Happy Gaming
  4. Thank you, Thandal. Yes, I have read through the "Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies " but I have to be able to actually get things to work before any of what I read makes sense to me. I am Aspien and so I have a differently wired brain. Once I put the read material together with experiential knowledge, I become more like an encyclopedia on it! But yeah... since I cannot get the bloody thing to open, I have been rather occupied by resolving THAT problem first. I only mentioned these comments on other ways to add mods, because this is way too much work for someone who works full-time! not in the gaming industry (as in I am not getting paid for this time) :D . I just hoped to spice up a game that I have actually played countless times already. ...but still love to enjoy. So, no worries. You certainly do not have to reply to me! I always muddle through. You go make your day perfect for you alone :woot:
  5. Good thoughts there, Thandal. Yes, I get those error messages :nuke: and I do, also, tell it to shut up and install anyway. Maybe I should go all the way back to the earliest version...? I do not even know if that makes sense. I use the Windows Defender... and this would not be the first time I received questionable advice from Windows or the Defender. But usually I can add things to my exceptions rule. :ohdear: However, this brings up another angle of investigation into the issue...  ...a lot of work this ends up being! But I am willing to give back to the community...if I can possibly find out the source of the problem. And I suppose I could always temporarily turn off all the protective mechanisms. ...one by one... See what happens. Someone in one of the threads said that it is not safe to just directly add a mod into the override folder... others say that is the only way they do it. Obviously not a dazip. I recall that Vortex did not lose the DLC with my simple mods added. Only after mods of more complex? makeup were added. And this also makes me wonder... GoG's version of the game is DRM-free. Could the DLC be lost anyway? :psyduck:  :ermm: Too bad GoG's forums are not very active in the DAO threads anymore. Well, Thanks honestly, Thandal. I do appreciate your presence in these forums!
  6. Opening the .exe file does nothing though... Some times there is a flash of "something", like what was that?! Then nothing. And oh yes, I have searched my computer's files to see if Windows 10 stored it somewhere I mayn't have thought of....
  7. Gosh, you two, I sincerely appreciate your help!   I may give this another try. I just let the DAOModManager forum know that Windows 10 does not want to install it [some dangerous source alert issue..great Windows take over my decision-making for me   ] ... but, even though my understanding is that the old Nexus ModManager is no longer supported? I may try it just to open a few of my fave mods again. Well, it is Monday now though. Off to work! I will make sure this thread is ticked to follow in case you think of anything else I should understand. And Again, always, thanks for being the massively supportive community that Nexus really Is. xo
  8. Aaaannnd ... I cannot open DAOModManager.... I have tried to open older versions as well. What is happening is: in the most recent versions, nothing at all... like, 'hello? where did you go?' kind of thing. Then as I progress backwards through older versions of DAOModManager, Windows 10 begins to put up alerts that this is a dangerous-to-my-computer sourced thing. I choose to install anyway... and Windows will not budge! I really love my mods! Have been modding for years... learned the ropes on Elder Scrolls where the modding community is fiercely devoted. But I guess no modding til this issue with Vortex and DAO is resolved/fixed. Thanks to everyone for your kind assistance... especially to all of you sharing your experiences! Reading through others' experiences is great for troubleshooting. xox
  9. Hello Thandal, Thanks for all your help on this issue! I have downloaded DAO ModManager but it is not working on my GoG version of the game   I seem to have read a few others searching for a solution to this issue. (Getting honestly muddled because I am reading so many forums searching for the solution! But I just read that issue again in two GoG forum posts). No solutions specific to this.... especially the 'which folder' question. ... as in which folder to I put DAO ModManager in? Would you be so kind as to direct me to a thread in Nexus where this topic is resolved? I am deeply grateful! !Cheers!
  10. Yes, I did have this happen! I tried and tried to reinstall the DLC following so many different instructions for this unfortunately evolving issue, but to no avail. I ended up purchasing the game...again for the 3rd or 4th? time... But this time from GoG where the game is DRM-free. Felt like getting down on my hands and knees to GoG! :ermm:   I feel that I should mention for Franpa, and any other viewers of this thread, that the first vortex installed mod did not seem to cause the problem... I do not know if I am remembering that I read that some of the mods installed by vortex or all of them cause the issue. But vortex did not 'install' all my mods incorrectly...just a few. Now... to follow up whether I should create an entirely new save folder of DAO to put my mods into. The experience has left me edgy! I do not want this to happen again! Thanks to all of you!  I always know I can find people in these forums to discuss the latest news and offer assistance with troubleshooting. This is a precious community resou Hi Thandal! and thank you so much. I did not mean to post on the same issue across the forums :pirate:  Honestly, I became lost reading, in how many threads? were bringing up this issue and related issues... and all I hoped to do was find which post answered my problem. I must admit that, as oft happens, I learn so much from many of the threads that after awhile I realise more accurately what my problem actually is lol! :ermm: :teehee:  I am downloading the DAO-ModManager now... ! Happy gaming, All! xo
  11. hello Friends and Fellow Gamers, I have just re-purchased DAO after being unable to recover my DLC after using Vortex mods. Word is: this is a known issue and being worked on. :geek:  Meanwhile, ..... ...after the hours of troubleshooting a 'fix' where nothing worked because Bioware no longer monitors DAO, I guess? :wallbash: My fresh version, DRM-free from GoG, works beautifully   ... but I feel a bit anxious about putting mods into the game folder previously used for the Steam and Origin versions! :ohdear: Dumb Q no doubt, but: I see the game folder made by GoG, which I want to keep pristine as there should be someplace to fall back to, right? But this other DAO folder in my documents... might it be tainted? Should I make a brand new folder? like maybe copy the new 1.05 updated game into a new folder and then use that for the override folder? BIG Love to the Best Modding community! And thanks for any redirection! xoxox

  13. hi All, Loving the nwn2 game so far... I played D&D before there were vid games for it. Oops! that dates me! O well. I am an old modding gamer via the Elder Scrolls games, especially Skyrim. Because I am enjoying nwn2, I thought some simple mods to character bods & texture, so forth, would be nice. I downloaded the Xaltar head and face mods to begin. I was able to extract and place my 1/2 elf and the Elanna mods.. also some module and texture folders into my override folder. (These worked & look grand). But Now, I am unable, literally, to get any other mods to even download! emote - perplexed. I have restarted computer; restarted firefox (is that browser the problem?); tried opening other mods other than Xaltar's ... I get nothing... I am on a new Dell gaming computer Windows 10 Home installed. Any other specs needed to see, just ask; however, I suspect I have triggered some blocker unknowingly. As much as I abhor microsoft's web browser edge, I guess I could retry the dls that way. But I thought I to ask the community too; because some times there is something ridiculously obvious that I wouldn't think of that I've left out or whatever. Thanks, always, to all of you. This seems to be a very supportive community and that is real cool to see. I appreciate any ideas, because everything is a good review...even if it is not the prob. Have fun! xo Lada
  14. Haha I am as well, OhAmex! And I am hoping I do not mess up these simple instructions; however, feeling real dingy in the noggin today! So shall see :-)
