[Streamline 3.1, the mod]

Do you use FCOMhelper to assist your load order? because I glanced at your list for about 3 seconds and noticed two glaring errors. (#1 you dont need ANY real swords esp's (including all the textures and meshes) as they are ALL incorporated into latest version of FCOM and FCOM_RealSwords.esp, and #2 you have WAY to many esp's active for Tamriel Travelers, the files, TamrielTravellersItemsNPC.esp, TamrielTravellersItemsVendor.esp, TamrielTravellersItemsUnscaled.esp, are just over writing each other from what I remember, I'd check the install directions again.)

 

 

Well back on topic I'm almost at the 300 mark and I've been running Operation Optimization from the start and from what I can tell it works great.

[Streamline 3.1, the mod]

Last week, I put Streamline 3.1 into Oblivion. It would often do "streamsaves" which was apparently an attempt on it's part to fix something. It was supposed to help performance.

 

Did it? nope. Instead it seemed to be causing far too many 'streamsaves' that would have course annoy my gameplaying experience. I seemed to be having 'sticky' animations far too damned often.

 

This morning, I removed it. Haven't had one lick of trouble nor those pesky mini freezes.

 

The reason I bring it up here in mod troubleshooting, is that Streamline is one of those recommended to improve performance, yet it doesn't do it's job and instead causes needless problems.

 

I'm now leery about even going back to Streamline 3.0, as I'm now jaded at the whole mod.

 

I rarely see any of us recommend Oblivion Optimization, and that mod DOES do it's job quietly and well.

 

 

I agree with you 100% streamline is recommended quite often to help people with their performance issues, when there are other mods out there that work quite well also. I ran streamline 3.1 for about two weeks until I realized that it was causing my game to run awful, FPS was very jumpy and lagged allot and had constand CTDs. A soon as I removed Streamline my game ran totally fine with just the ocasional CDT every hour or two.

If that don't work I will simple add 1 light radius to something I always use the toolset, or carry around a torch.

Sometimes I get a grey screen. If I change my look angle it goes away, if I move it goes away. It seems to be when I face a certain direction, in a certain spot I get it. Though it is not permament, and doesn't seem to actually interfere with gameplay, it is only nuisance. But a big one. And it seems to be happening more often as of late.

 

I am using FCOM, plus a few more mods, and am bashing them together. If a list of my mods will help I will provide it, but I am only using beatiful people graphics.

Edit - Oh, and since I am here lookinf for help anyway, every time I exit oblivion windows pops up with "ths program has stopped working" does not seem to actually affect anything so likely not a big deal, but is anoying. As this was happening long before the gray screen I am almost certain they are unrelated.

 

 

I have the exact same problem with a very simmilar setup full FCOM with about 200 other mods running. The only time I have ever seen this bug is in castle Kvatch when it is destroyed and full of fire. I felt that it had to do with all the fire effects in the rooms and the HDR lighting, but it hasn't bothered me since so I haven't looked into a fix.....until now.

 

What is your video card?

 

I am running a Nvidia GeForce 8800gtx and found a good configuration of video hardware settings that and reduced my CTDs by 90%. Perhaps a similar trouble shooting technique will work for the "Grey screen bug". Basicly what I did is set my hardware settings to default then changed every thing that had a better performance option to that option one at a time. Below is my current hardware settings profile.

[Scariest Moment!]

I've had quite a few scary moments, usually it's something jupming out at my when unexpected. But the funniest scary moment was acctually when my wife was playing she had just started a new character after seimi-retiring her 25th level mage and was doing the intro quest. Here new character was this really short 1/2 cat person (from Beautiful people) and she was walking down the hallway that has a rat then a zombie in it. Well she killed the rat and the zombie and was looting them and when she came out of the inventory screen another rat jumped at her from around the corner. Because her character was so short the rat looked like it was flying right at her face. She jumped in her chair and screamed, I started laughing, and then POW she punched me in the arm REALLY HARD and yelled at me for laughing at her.

 

NOW THAT WAS SCARY. :biggrin:

The USIP MOBS patch at the FCOM site is a dead link, and the TES-Nexus file #27152 does not exist. Does anyone know where this dang file can be DLed from.

I'd probably say WTF then go oooooh cr@p, what level am I and where the heck am I. I'd then travel to the nearest inn collecting alchemy reagents along the way and wait for a traveling merchant to come by that is selling a amulet of water walking. I'd then hide in his room and rob him while he's sleeping. I'd put the amulet on and travel to the IC via the safest roads in tamriel, the lakes and rivers. Once in the IC I'd go to the arcane university and learn as much magic as possible, culminating in the creation of a new midas magic spell "Open Gate to Earth". Upon returning to earth I will live out my life as a simple janitor who moonlights as a all powerful god-mage freedom fighter at night. I would mosly help and heal the innocent at first but slowly over time become corrupted and crazed by power lust as I saw how easy it is to over power the puny humans of this world. It would probably start with the summoning a Balrog in the corporate headquarters of some company I don't like, then it would just get worse from there to the annihilation of small thrid world countrys. To finally the desruction of every major city on the planet and enslavement of all the remaining living creatures so that I can harvest their souls to power my ring of personality 100pts, aaaahh the only thing that really matters in the world.
