  1. Read the instructions in the download perhaps?
  2. For anyone who doesn't know how to turn off automatic updates: In Steam, right click on Skyrim. Select 'Properties'. Open the 'Updates' tab. In the drop-down menu underneath 'Automatic Updates' select 'Do not automatically update this game'. Done and done. Yeaaaahh...that'd be all well and good...if it worked. Steam forces the auto update regardless of client side setting. So nice try, but no, it doesn't work. Steam has already acknowledged the issue and refuses to fix it.
  3. For as much as you guys are whining and being generally petty about this, his site has never been down once when I went to download, and he updates it within a day most of the time, as far as solo mod authors go who don't have a team, that's pretty damn good. Stop acting like such entitled little kids and go outside or something for 2 hours while you wait on the site.
  4. Script dragon has already been updated, didn't take long.
  5. Yeah...Steam does that...it's annoying as all hell and it won't even stop doing it if you tell it not to do it...
  6. I've got nuthin, My TESV.exe is 1.6.89, updated SKSE and Script Dragon, mine runs without a hitch. I assume you have, but have you manually double-checked the version number on your TESV.exe? Maybe try re-downloading Script Dragon from here again?
  7. Spreading misinformation aside he already updated it. As in the above post, why would he update the site in a huge time frame where there were no patches? Also anti-virus programs are notoriously spotty when it comes to things like mods and anything else that you download that has .dlls or .exes. Just because some two bit AV software thinks it's bad doesn't mean it is.
  8. You don't need the 4GB patch anymore, the Skyrim .exe has LAA built in now. That's why Skyrim 4GB is hidden, it no longer has a purpose.
  9. Yeah you have a point there. I guess the main use of a hide would be for people who didn't quite break the rules far enough to get ban-hammered, but were still less than courteous. BUT I suppose eventually they'll mess up and get report+banhammer. I suppose this thread can safely be closed/locked/deleted since it seems like for the most part this might be a redundant solution.
  10. I suppose so on that one. Point taken here. I was more thinking having mod authors being able to fully hide all of a user's posts from a specific addons thread, or all addons made by that author. Not just -rep style hide, where you can still click to see them, completely hide, no "Show anyway" button. That way you don't have to deal with them in any way, not even through somebody else responding to their post. I'm sorry but some people don't know the difference between a constructive critique of a mod (ie: "Good concept and well executed, but it turned out to not be my thing for X reason" This lets them know they did a good job, but also gives them an extra idea to play with if it sounds good to them too) and a completely disrespectful bash (ie: "No, you should have done what I did, kill yourself cuz you're retarded and your mod sucks" This gets us nowhere at all, it insults the author and gives no idea's to the pool.) I just feel like mod authors need a way to completely cut off someone like that from commenting, because personally I hate even reading replies to some of these people half the time...and I'm not even the author (Haven't made a mod since Morrowind...no time), and if said reply has a quote then, well, whats the purpose of the hide or ignore in the first place? That's why for this idea I more meant to fully hide the post automatically with no way of showing it (which amounts to a block from the thread). If you can't be respectful and give useful critique, or just compliment work, then I feel mod authors need to be able to just get you out of their threads. (Like I said, not even sure if this can be done, I did think if nothing else it could lead the leaders here to another idea, even if this one isn't feasible. I hate to lose good authors because peoples parents never taught them to hold their tongues.../rant)
  11. Alrighty so I happened to drop into a certain gigantic house mod thread (I'm sure you know the one Dark0ne) to see if there was any progress posted about the Reborn version that was announced a while back. Noticed that we have a lot of entitled little kids running around that thread bashing the mod maker. Now, I don't even know if this suggestion is possible or if you've already looked at doing it but if it is, might I suggest a mod-author controlled blocking system to block people out of your mod's thread? With something like this, rather than being inclined to bash their heads against the wall fighting with people in their own mods comments thread, they cold just block the user from the mod's thread and not have to worry about defending themselves every time they get on to check for bug reports. I realize this is also ripe with the possibility of exploitation from people who just don't like other people in general...but it seems that occasionally Nexus (and other modding sites) lose good respected modders to just a few malcontents in an entire cloud of content, happy users. Five people patting you on the head means very little when someone else is stabbing you in the gut... Edit: I had another thought, perhaps if not completely mod author controlled, or a complete block, perhaps instead: A mod-author controlled "hide" function. OR A block function as suggested, but instead of being completely author controlled, have it send a request to a moderator to review the situation and act accordingly. (The main difference between this and the standard "report" being that this would be on a thread by thread basis, which is why I am unsure if it is possible as I've never managed a board like this.)
  12. Aha...it figures, the one time in recent history I was lazy and copied an .ini edit it was missing something. Thanks :) This was quite useful in making my Skyrim a more talkative world.
  13. I should have specified that ffdshow is a thing only some people will have. ffdshow is a codec used for encoding and decoding audio and video for several different audio/video formats. Only people who deal with converting and encoding weird video and audio formats are likely to have it. (ie I put Fraps stuff into 3GP for my phone so I can play it on there) My theory would be that it's likely my system in itself had no conflict with the current patch, it was more than likely caused by that decoder trying to kick in since I did have it. I had already updated SKSE when it was unstable on my system, it helped, but not a lot. That's why I'm guessing in my case it was related to the ffdshow change. Today it seemed to smooth out even more with an update of Script Dragon. Not sure why, could be unrelated actually as the only ScriptDragon based mod I have is not performance related in the least.
  14. Just a little update, after my post last night I went into ffdshow, specifically for my system: ffdshow audio decoder (x64) ffdshow DXVA video decoder (x64) ffdshow video decoder (the non x64 audio decoder I have never been able to get to open on this system...not sure why) Then, I went into "DirectShow control" on each of them. Went to the drop down for "Don't use ffdshow in:" (And checked the box if it wasn't checked already) and added TESV.exe, SkyrimLauncher.exe, and skse_loader.exe to the lists. Saw this fix earlier in the thread and figured it couldn't hurt. Earlier guy didn't have skse_loader.exe in there but I decided might as well keep it all consistently not using ffdshow at all.(not that skse would make much use of it, but it's not like it can hurt) As yet my crashes which had been happening every 5 minutes or less after the patch seem to have gone away entirely. Crossing my fingers that this is my solution. As for egamar's 2p on this fix, I'd just be inclined to say that each problem for each user can be different on different hardware. Also depending on if you install your mods properly or not. Such as only using NMM, it's solid advice for newbies, but you should still double check NMM's work. It isn't infallible by any means and even if the mod has a "Download with Manager" button I've had NMM put stuff in the wrong places a couple times. Using a mod manager will never guarantee success. I constantly had to double check in OBMM and MMM (In fact I plain stopped using MMM and switched to Wrye Mash)
