Looking good, fine sir!

So I've looked all through the files, mods, and so on, (if not the forums) and I've seen not a single mod that makes a standalone laser weapon! What's the deal with that? So here I'll be making a request for more... how to word this... assault rifle esq laser rifles, or the like? The weapons from XCOM come to mind first, for instance. Having something like those would be absolutely fantastic!
