Fallout 4 now abruptly crashing, would appreciate help.
Bauldric replied to Bauldric's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I can't stand clipping if you have an alternative to scrap everything to remove ground clutter I would love to hear it. As for moving load order that is my biggest problem with Vortex, I am not sure how to move my manual load order. It seems to do it all itself and the most I can do is move the dependencies and there is no option for load last. EDIT: So I moved scrap everything to last and it did nothing. =/ I hate when this happens because it could be anything causing the issue. I also figured out a crude work around for now but I need to figure out how to use LOOT and Vortex better it appears since I was reading they have options that let you adjust load order manually. EDIT 2: Can creation club items conflict and crash the game with no mods installed? EDIT 3: I noticed that the files for base fallout 4 and it's DLCs all say last modified 11/1/2008. Would this cause crashes if files are incorrectly dated? I thought they would say sometime in April of this year since that is when I downloaded and installed them. -
So I had this happen once before with skyrim but never with fallout 4. I can not get the game to work now after adding one mod (Crafting Mastery). I have tried purging all my mods and taking it to vanilla and that didn't help. I unfortunately have a data cap so I am trying not to re-download stuff if I can help it. I am using Vortex and I have about 91 mods with a approx. 110 plugins. I am going to post my load order in a spoiler below. If anyone could help me see if anything is calling out bad or broken please let me know. I am looking for just advice on how to fix this. I've tried validating my archive and only the DLC that I cleaned showed up bad so I had to reclean the DLC. FO4Edit shows no issues that should be stopping launch of the game and LOOT is showing no conflicts. However the CTD happens shortly after the initial start menu loads up. It seems to be specifically when something kicks in since it is not time related crash not a state related crash (As in exactly between 20-25 seconds in and it doesn't matter if I press E, start interacting in menus or some how tricked it to start loading my save). I have not created a merged patch yet because there is nothing I can really merge from what I've seen. I am just learning to use Vortex so I am not sure how to play with load order manually yet and I am not sure if I broke something since I had to remove a mod. I did check the files folder in data and nothing was left of the mod I removed (reasonable workshop perks). I also haven't modded really since .esl was added so I am not sure how that affects load order and stuff like that. I can post information if needed tomorrow evening and of course I will keep looking into this on my own and will post if I got it fixed. Load Order:

So I am going to be starting with a few friends my very own quest mod. I've been talking about it for almost 2 years now and I figure it's high time I do so. However there is a lot of stuff I still don't get or easily frustrates me since I can't seem to word the issue properly to master Google. I am mainly looking for someone I can shoot questions to from time to time to help troubleshoot persistent issues that we can't seem to solve. As of the moment I am the only one actually working on programing the mod the other member of the team so far is working on literal script and story plans. We are hoping to get an audio guy on board soon and then all we will need is to find someone to help with textures and in-game scripting and we will be good to start. As well I may need some help trouble shooting lore and writing script, etc. if people are interested in that. A BRIEF IDEA OF WHAT THIS MOD IS: Overall objective is to create a 3 chapter quest mod (with many smaller parts) that will add 3-6 hours of gameplay and story into Fallout 4 with interesting boss fights and puzzle mechanics. We want to have the first part into beta by April of next year seeing as this is all our first real mod that we plan to publish. I plan to try and personally have a prototype of the map done by the end of next month. We want this to be fun and exciting but also be feasible within the realm of the given lore within the game and within game limitations of course. WHAT WE HAVE DONE: -A series of sketches for map designs including dungeons, boss encounter rooms, item implementation, loot, and enemy/npc locations, and pacing of story events through said zones. -Rough prologue and character sheet outlining the 8 key NPCs we plan to have that will be memorable and story drivers. -Story board and pacing for Act One along with potential loot and rewards for the player upon completion. -Expectations that this will probably all change as soon as we actually get stuff started and try to put it together. BRIEF STORY IDEA: Sole Survivor is approached in Diamond City by a hooded figure who gives him a note and an address. The note talks about a revival of a violent communist faction within the Commonwealth and that they have some secret that may be worth trying to fight for. The twist in my eyes is the fact that this will be taking a look at the Russian side of the communist fight from the pre-war era with some interesting story twists to hopefully make it unique and memorable. I also do realize I just literally described the most generic of story outlines I could. OBJECTIVES THAT I AM LOOKING FOR HELP WITH: My key goals with the mod is to find a way to offer the player the ability to solve issues in multiple ways without it just being dialogue based. One way I've been thinking about it is to let the player kill certain NPCs rather then dealing with them and learning the story from notes instead. Allowing them to take on the faction as if it was a group of raiders instead of a story driven adventure. However I can only really see two options from a gameplay stand point atm. Either the Massacre route where you kill first and find out story after or the infiltration route where you play through the narrative live. I am roughly shooting for 1-2 hours of content regardless of choice in the first chapter and to get a prototype up by January. I do not see however with those two options how to make the massacre path not just end the mod in five minutes (exaggerating of course). I also want to find ways to do puzzles. I felt like puzzles were missing in vanilla FO4. I just seemed to raider blitz my way through everything or just focus on building stuff. That is why I want to make this mod. To bring in something I felt was lacking from all of my playthroughs. Once I get notes back from my companion on the story and character outline I will post more about the story here in the future as well. Ohh...and the place holder name for the mod is... The Red-Surgence (If its taken, let me know. That's why it's a place holder) P.S: I think I tried to pitch this idea but in a different way a while back but it never got anywhere. Back then it was about trying to come up with a fun way to get a Soviet Union inspired Power Armor suit. That idea is not shelved for this project. We are trying to, in the immediate future, keep this first chapter down to what we believe we can handle with a small team trying to figure it all out. If we can get some help with stuff or find people to make up for what we are lacking on our team we want to do a lot more. We want this to end (as in when we finish the 3 part series) with the player getting custom permanent perks, unique weapons, unique armor, a fully voice and functional companion (with unique textures and gear), and maybe a new faction of enemies to wander the commonwealth and kill. We are shooting for the stars but also expecting only to just hover off of the ground. What matters to us is getting the story across first.

Anyone know what causes these two images?

It's driving me nut and I don't know how to fix it. I am trying a few optimized textures and archiving textures that I can find that aren't archived because I have heard that it does cause slow downs. Still no fix after defrag and all. -

So, I downgraded graphic and that didn't really help. I am going to defrag it and see if that helps like you said. I'll report back in the morning after the defrag. Also, side note: I seemed to have this problem (at it's worst) last time I installed the mod FAR Faraway Area Reform. I re-installed it recently again to try and see if it helped the issue and it always seems to exacerbate the issue. I am going to see if NMM didn't install it right/didn't remove it fully. Scratch that. I checked to see if anything got left behind and it hadn't. I suppose I am just going to most likley have to learn to live with it since it keeps happening. Are there any mods out there that improve LOD distance, etc besides or in addition to, Faraway Area Reform? I don't really understand why my draw distance/LOD distance is so poor. I mean I can only load half of Sanctuary at a time now since I left it came back. It's like the problem is growing exponentially. I encountered this once before and the only way to specifically stop the growing problem was to scrap everything and redownload/install the game again. I really don't want to do that again. I am now going to bed with the dragger doing a full defrag if that changes things. Here's a Load Order if anyone is interested. Load Order: Second Edit: Another Image from a different angle of the same issue. I don't know if you can see it but you can tell the point where it stops loading based on the fragment of my barn floating in space. http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s468/bauldric/20160618023049_1_zpsavsmyag3.jpg -

Unfortunately this issue killed my first playthrough and it seems to get worse as I play now to where Sanctuary doesn't start loading till I hit the settlement zone wall...I wonder if something broke my LOD distances. -

See the funny thing is, is that I have a GTX980 TI (6GB from what I recall) and I'm not running any new texture mods or anything like that. So I would think that this wouldn't be an issue. I'll try running the game at lower settings and check back. (Also have 16gb of Ram and an intel 5280k I believe but don't quote me on model numbers because foggy brain is running hard atm). After Thought: Could running Settlement Mods effect this if you didn't have big settlements or many items placed yet anywhere? Also could it be an issue of running in Windowed Mode because now that I think about it. I haven't run with Windowed mode for a long time but recently I went back to it. -
This one happens no matter what I do, making me believe it's a vanilla issue but yet I remember one play through where it didn't happen which sadly wasn't my vanilla playthrough way back when. I believe these are the LOD textures sitting underneath or on top of each other or just sitting around too long. If this might be a problem with MODs, I'll post my load order after I get my mind working enough to make spoilers. Ohh the joys of a cold. Sorry for the huge pictures. http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s468/bauldric/20160618005414_1_zpsl7iugenl.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s468/bauldric/20160618011018_1_zps2vgkc5r3.jpg Load Order for those who are interested. So, the problem is both simple and very complicated. I don't expect anyone to help me dive through the nitty gritty (aka Load Order and Mod trouble shooting the hard way). However, I have an issue. A great big game breaking issue. When I sleep, the screen goes black and when it stops counting down it STAYS black. I can not sleep at all. Along with that, I can move around and interact with object still. If I try to sleep again (if by a miracle I can find the bed) it says 12am and will not change no matter how long I sleep. I can not access anything other than the perk tree. Everything else is pure black except for the HUD. I will post my load order, so if you do want to take a peek. I appreciate any help and if you encountered this issue before...is it something obvious I am missing. Thanks guys!

So, last night for no reason while I was playing, my game CTD'd and afterwards when I couldn't get the game to restart it was missing 5 files. The files just vanished. Now today I am getting the strangest error I've ever had. I have (as far as I can tell after waiting 20 minutes for even the intro video to load into a new game) I have an infinite load screen that behaves like I am playing. If I alt-tab it, it pauses the game in the loading screen and when I unload it, it makes a sound like my character hitting the floor from a short distance and proceeds to keep showing me the loading screen. No game hints, no nothing. 1. This image is all I see when I load the game up (as in click the .exe to run it) at first with mods. The grey number in the top left-hand corner is 99 (which is from Steam showing Framerate). Which is bizarre because I never go above 60 due to a limiter on my Graphics card. http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s468/bauldric/New%20Bitmap%20Image_zpsckkhuji0.png 2. Then I see the Main Menu, with continue, new game, load, etc. 3. When I click new game (which is the only viable option atm) It begins to load like normal except doesn't end, even after 20 minutes. Then, when I alt-tab and tab back it behaves like I said in-game, I even here my character land after falling a short distance (not death but just plop down from a short fall) and the screen continues to load. I can not pin point what mod made be causing this. Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, what was the issue. What type of conflict, etc. I am trying to get a lead on where to look since I am currently just trying to get a lot of mods to work. Just for fun, which I was on the brink of doing until this error flared up out of no where. My Load order is below in the spoiler. Thanks in advanced if you feel up to replying. If not, I will pray something falls my way to help me find it. P.S: If I missed a blaring Load Order Issue, please let me know since this project took me about 2 hours to start and I wisely started it just before I wanted to go to bed...needless to say I was quite tired. So pointing out the obvious, might also really help! Thank you guys in advanced! Update!: Now the game won't load all together again, the screen freezes on the above image even before the main menu, and if you try to exit such as in Alt-tab (Alt f4 was not closing it) the screen begins to flicker with still images and run at less then 1 frame per second.

In response to post #36116435. #36116935, #36119415 are all replies on the same post. If they don't Modders always find a way!

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Not only that but it stops everything else. For all intensive purposes it is just an invisible metal object that spawns in random spots. It's always like the size of a cube going on forever into the sky.

So, as my title suggests. I am getting random hardspots that seem to persist in my world no matter what. I can not figure out what is causing them because every time I try to trouble shoot they remain no matter what. It doesn't matter if I edit the world space or not and I am no longer using console commands (unless mods are behind the scenes). It seems to happen only in editable spaces and mainly in sanctuary. I will also post a load order but I am not sure what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this beyond what I have been doing of besides pulling out mods one by one?

Okay so I am very tired at this point because I've been debugging for quite a while trying to figure out why this is happening. I know about the categories problem so I figured just removing my other mods would help or reworking the load order but even with everything disabled but the required mods I can't get Crafting Workbenches to work properly. I mean I have access to all crafting BUT it's all jumbled together under Capsules. http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s468/bauldric/44348a62-2307-4a6f-8b43-f354a417ec1a_zpsjzfsj5fm.png My Load Order is a bit extreme so I am going to be doing pruning anyway but I am just at a lost and figured I would seek some help while I have to crash for some sleep for a little while. Thanks guys in advance! ( Load Order in the spoiler! )
