  1. having the same issue. at first I figured it was because my character was low level and couldn't detect the rune traps, but then having advanced the character in sneaking and all magical schools there's still no way to see them so I started thinking maybe it was a bug and hit google... which led me to this post
  2. Skyrim, much like Oblivion, has a rather annoying quirk with trading/storing stacked items if you have, for example, 10 of an item, attempting to trade or store the items will pop up an option asking how many. this is good, it could be better if there were an option to enter a number manually from the keyboard but I'm not sure if that's even possible to mod however if you have, for example, 5 of the item it won't bring up the quantity checker but will instead require you to select it 5 times. this is bad so is it possible for a mod to make it so that the quanitity option will pop up if you have 3 or more instead of 6 or more? also is it possible to add an option to enter the number from the keyboard?
  3. yes but usually they replace the existing ones, whereas I want to be able to get them as well as
  4. there's several addons that replace the loading screens, most notably the various Sheo-styles, but I'm interested in keeping the original loading screens and adding those from mods to the random pool, is there a way to do this?
  5. this one for example it has the title, then the image and then the description but the caption "The Dragonborn stands before the Empire" is nowhere to be seen
  6. Skyrim, Oblivion and Dragon Age Nexus at least, presumably the others as well
  7. I've just noticed that all of the many screenshots I uploaded only show the title and description, with the caption field (which I usually use for a pun) not displayed
  8. I'd like to be able to have Skryim playing in my main monitor, while able to browse the internet in the second monitor, however Skryim doesn't seem to allow this. is there any way to change it? also if this does work, is it more stable than alt-tabbing?
  9. I love that they gave us a choice to join or oppose them and have done both on different characters. it's just a shame that the Destroying questline is so short. it would've been nice to get some additional quests to foil some assassination attempts, track an assassin back to their hideout to learn the passphrase, set up ambushes, etc having Maro know where their hideout is but do nothing about it until Astrid dies and then sending only one person to take out them all seems rather silly would've also been nice to have a similar kind of questline to oppose the thieves guild and the Blackbriars, although I did notice there's an interesting looking mod for that which I'll be trying out
  10. I love this idea. minimaps can be very handy, and the Skyrim 'favourites' system is a bit messy when compared to the usual hotbar system of most RPGs or the keybindings of previous Elder Scrolls, so this would definitely be an addon I'd consider a must have
  11. thirded! is that a word? to be honest the entire menu could do with a de-console-ing
  12. personally I'd love a mod that could change the 'dirt' option into freckles instead. and to allow additional hair colours, for example a proper red hair colour I want to make a freckled redhead to recreate one of my preferred Oblivion characters
  13. yeah I didn't think I'd be able to make such huge changes, I was just thinking from a roleplaying character motivation thing. but I think I'll go with Dementia. I'll be taking my good(ish) character through Shivering Isles as well so no need to save to do both, I'll do Mania on another character
  14. unfortunately I don't think it's even possible to make such a mod. the construction kit was never updated to work properly with Awakening content which has greatly limited what modders can actually do with the expansion I too was hoping the Orlesian would be able to import decisions made by an Ultimate Sacrifice instead of having to use defaults, but alas the expansion was horribly rushed
  15. nope. I have nothing against consoles but there's two reasons stopping me from getting one firstly they're very anti-mods. MS and Sony seem firmly against player-created content, which I personally consider to be a huge strength of PC gaming. just look at the Nexus to see how popular creating and playing mods is secondly there's only a few titles on consoles that interest me and are not also on PC, and they tend to be spread across different consoles. I just can't justify the cost of a PS3 or 360 for the small number of exclusive games they offer obviously that's purely from my own viewpoint. just because consoles aren't for me doesn't mean that I'm against other people enjoying them but even if I did have a console, I'd likely only buy the game on one platform anyway, and since PC has mods (and I prefer the mouse/keyboard rather than a gamepad) it'd be PC anyway
  16. just a thanks again to all those who helped me out here. I'm still enjoying (heavily modded) Oblivion and very much glad that I gave the game another chance and Shivering Isles is hilariously fun, Sheo's realm is so much better than Dagon's
  17. it would've been nice to have an alternate ending where you could help him come to terms with his parentage... but you'd still have to kill him in the arena anyway... I suppose they could have had him retire as champion and go off to do something else with his life but that would've been a rather anti-climatic way to win the arena championship as for Camoran and the amulet I always assumed he could wear it because they were in another plane of existence so the normal rules didn't apply
  18. so my evil character is tackling Shivering Isles (my good-ish character is currently distracted by the intriguing Malevolent mod storyline) and I've reached the point where I need to pick who to kill and replace on the one hand since my character is an evil psychopath, ruling Dementia seems highly appropriate on the other hand since my character is an evil psychopath she'd really want to kill that annoying drug-addled loony and turn Mania into a pit of misery like Dementia which she feels is already on the right track... decisions decisions... I wonder if there's a way to kill both... (if it's a spoiler that you get to kill one *later* but cannot yet, please don't tell me. but if there's a way to kill both now then please let me know)
  19. I'd never noticed a clock on the map before... maybe I should get my eyes tested again :P thanks
  20. also trying to find a mod that allows waiting while trespassing... there's one Dark Brotherhood quest for example where you have to stage an accident and can only do so during a two hour time window... not only is there no visible clock, you can't wait while inside the house meaning you have to go all the way back outside again (avoiding being seen) to check the time, wait if necessary and then back in (again avoiding being seen)... tried this mod but it didn't work and the modder has annoyingly disabled comments on it (why is there even an option to do that?)
  21. hey wait, I've got a new complaint... :P still enjoying the game thanks to all the mods, but run into some more minor annoyances "Speechcraft Training" quest... ok so having to talk to every beggar in every city is bad enough but there's no visual tracking of which I still need to talk to? any mod that simply makes the beggars appear as quest targets would be a huge help on this one, and if the other trainings have similar quests then for those too if I remember right in Morrowind you could use Detect Life to distinguish between hostile and friendly NPCs and creatures by the colours of their aura, which is something that'd be useful for sneaking in Oblivion. it's nice to get a sneak bonus in attacking but annoying to then discover your victim wouldn't actually have attacked you also there's the whole mounted combat thing, there's some mods but nothing to enable archery from a mount and from what I've read it seems it's just not possible to mod it. oh well, hopefully in Skyrim...
  22. a few times I've noticed odd behaviour in the games screenshots, namely that it's overwriting screenshots by restarting or going back a few numbers my theory is that it may be when the game has a CTD that it loses count of any shots made during that play and on the next load overwrites them, but that's only a guess, I can't remember for sure if it's always been after a crash that it's happened. assuming this theory is correct though (and it may not be, so I'd welcome any other suggestions) I'd like some way to fix or work around it since I'm not sure I'd remember to back up my screenshots after every crash. ideally stopping the CTDs would be an ideal solution but that's not likely, since Oblivion is sadly known for it's random crashes even with all the patches, fixes and everything else, the best that can be hoped for seems to be to minimise them, and to be fair it doesn't crash all that often even if it does have an annoying tendancy to crash sometimes just as I think "I haven't saved in a while so I'd better do so in case it crashes..." but anyway, I was wondering if there's some way to stop the game from 'forgetting' or 'losing count' when it crashes somehow there's also the annoyance of them saving as bmp images instead of jpg meaning I have to convert them all myself, but from what I gather it's not possible to make the game save as jpg instead, please correct me if I'm wrong
  23. absolutely. in games like The Witcher where you play a pre-made character I wouldn't mind wearing a helmet. but in a game where I design my own character it's nice to actually see that character. granted I wouldn't take it to the point of running around naked if the game let me change the characters body shape, but I would try to use armour and clothing that showed the shape rather than hid it. if there were helms that only partially covered the head and hair then I might use some of those, but not the full head covering helms or the make-your-hair-vanish helms
  24. I'll say one thing for Oblivion, it may have flaws but at least Bethesda have consistently given us the construction kit so our talented modders can fix them. thanks to all the mods here I've gotten the game to be even better. still not as good as Morrowind, but I've played Morrowind a lot recently and could use a break plus while graphics don't make or break a game, the graphics in Oblivion are a pretty damn nice job (after some fixes from modders anyway, some of the default faces didn't look right) still haven't found anything to fix the annoying confirmation on trading, and there's the occasional CTDs and addon conflicts but those are rather minor in comparison to the issues now solved I'm actually starting to look forward to Skyrim now, I was trying not to get my hopes up but I'm confident that even if Bethesda manage to screw it up then the modding community will be able to do something with it
