  1. well that has indeed fixed some of it, and so far I'm enjoying the game a fair bit. still a few annoyances though horses... why is it that you can use the mouse to turn your character when walking/running but not when riding? anyone know of any mods to make horse controls the same as when not mounted? trade... yeah that one's still there. the confirmation dialogue on every single purchase, and some items will ask for the quantity but many you have to buy one by one if you want multiples, very annoying and I'm not sure if it's possible from mods but the inventory management system is a mess. armour and clothing of all types bundled together under one heading, no ability to sort by slot either (for example feet, hands, head, etc)
  2. well one of my friends decided to try to convince me that Bethesda improved some of the aspects of Oblivion and bought me the Shivering Isles expansion pack, so I've decided to dig Oblivion out of the attic and give it another go. but first I was hoping that I could find some fixes for some of the issues that most annoyed me, or at least the ones I can remember. so if anyone knows of anything that addresses the following please throw me a link, or at least anything you can remember about how to fix it persuasion mini-game. I really hated it. as far as I remember it was entirely random and ridiculous, involving you having to insult, bribe, threaten and flatter in a random combination that should achieve nothing but getting your character dragged off in a straight jacket. as far as I remember the only other mini-game was lockpicking and I can't remember if that one was annoying or not trade. again, my memory's a bit faded on the details but I remember it being incredibly annoying and awkward to buy/sell large quantities of items skip the main quest. I've completed it and wasn't impressed and don't really want to bother doing it again. but assuming it's anything like Morrowind, while completing it isn't essential it does have some effect on later (ie: expansion) content. also that Oblivion gates are irritating as hell so having them gone would be great. I know I can download other peoples saves for this but I'd rather play with my own created characters variety to dungeons. I don't know if anyone would have taken the effort to improve the copy-pasted dungeons that shipped with Oblivion but if they did, I'd want those mods that's all I can remember off the top of my head, but if you can think of anything else that addresses common complaints/criticisms I'd love to hear about it. I'm not too bothered about additional content mods just yet, but assuming the game manages to avoid being uninstalled again I'll look for those later I think I used to have a little utility that made organising save games for different characters easier as well, although that may have been for Morrowind, I can't remember. but anything like that would be useful oh and advice on a mod management program would probably be handy, I can't remember what I used to use
  3. keep in mind that you don't get married in Origins, you get engaged, the wedding is scheduled for after the Blight is ended. so even if you were betrothed to Alistair and he died, you would have no claim to the throne, Anora would become Queen. and as far as I remember even a male human noble cannot rule alone, you have to marry Anora and she makes it clear that she is the one doing all the ruling, not you
  4. I'm enjoying the show so far. I've bought the books as well but haven't started reading them yet, I'm currently reading the Sword of Truth series so I'll hit Song of Ice & Fire after those
  5. nice, but I wish it didn't have that awful piercing :(
  6. probably just whichever happened to be closest to the Arch Demon
  7. recently I've taken to replaying Origins with some new characters since there's a steady stream of good quality player-made mods to add new content, but it occurred to me that there's a lot less incentive to replay the Awakening expansion. even in the 'vanilla' (unmodded) version, there's a lot less in the way of game-changing choices than in Origins (compare for example the effects of siding with the werewolves instead of dalish to siding with the Baroness instead of Justice) and then the fact that almost all the player-made content is for Origins and adds little or nothing to Awakening. which is of course understandable, everyone who has Awakening has Origins but the reverse is not necessarily true, so Origins mods have a larger potential audience but I'm getting sidetracked. what I'd like is some advice on any mods that do have a significant change to Awakening and may give me more incentive to replay it
  8. I've found a few mods that change her face in the DLC but always to match up with another alternate face in Origins. what I want is to keep using the default face in Origins and have her either look the same, or slightly younger, in the DLC (for some bizarre reason she looks older in the DLC) if anyone knows of a mod or can make one, it'd be much appreciated
  9. yes I did mean mods, or addons or unofficial DLC or whichever term you prefer
  10. after playing Awakening a few times with imported characters I decided to try to Orlesian Warden. only snag, since I'm not importing a character from Origins, none of the player-made DLC items from Origins are present in Awakening I've seen various fixes to make BioWare's DLC work in Awakening, but is there any way to modify custom DLC? or better yet a program that makes the modifications by itself?
  11. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets frustrated trying to download a file only to be told "this file is too big, you have to log in" when I already logged in the previous fifty times I visited the site. a simple tickbox to "always be logged in" would be a huge improvement
  12. same issue, half my mods don't work in new characters since installing Awakening. I suppose there's no way to make a workaround with the toolset or something?
  13. horizontal scrolling on comments is especially annoying
