  1. Yes the FO3 main storyline wasn't great but the lore is brilliant, personally I love how almost every settlement and character has a backstory, I really enjoy lots of little details that add to the game like that. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline I'd like Bethsoft to get the balance right between realism and some believability whilst still retaining the Fallout lore (I mean I know you might be thinking, how is Fallout 3 believable, there are aliens, super mutants, ghouls etc etc) I don't know if anybody will understand what I mean but anyway, I think I will be happy with whatever the devs come out with and I can trust them to make a good game.
  2. I'm sure there's a console command that you can use to force them to use a weapon but I don't know it.
  3. Yes, like vendetta I've had problems distinguishing races sometimes, although don't pay too much attention. Lots of people have noticed this and not just yourself. There's also a pale face bug / glitch, African Americans look Caucasian but there's an easy, quick fix for this. It's in this YouTube playlist along with lots of other tutorials for the GECK and a few bug fixes: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE528CEE228C0DBB7
  4. So I thought I'd do some quick research into popular names from the early to mid 20th Century to help with naming characters in Fallout because it has a 1950's atmosphere / feel (I can't think what to call it...) Of course adult characters names shouldn't be from the 1950's because they were born at least 20 years before. Here then, are the Top 10 most popular names from 1920 to 1950 (in the US) 1920 Male: 1 Robert 2 John 3 James 4 William 5 Charles 6 George 7 Joseph 8 Richard 9 Edward 10 Donald Female: 1 Mary 2 Dorothy 3 Helen 4 Betty 5 Margaret 6 Ruth 7 Virginia 8 Doris 9 Mildred 10 Frances 1930 Male: 1 Robert 2 James 3 John 4 William 5 Richard 6 Charles 7 Donald 8 George 9 Thomas 10 Joseph Female: 1 Mary 2 Betty 3 Barbara 4 Shirley 5 Patricia 6 Dorothy 7 Joan 8 Margaret 9 Nancy 10 Helen 1940 Male: 1 James 2 Robert 3 John 4 William 5 Richard 6 David 7 Charles 8 Thomas 9 Michael 10 Ronald Female: 1 Mary 2 Linda 3 Barbara 4 Patricia 5 Carol 6 Sandra 7 Nancy 8 Sharon 9 Judith 10 Susan 1950s Male: 1 James 2 Michael 3 Robert 4 John 5 David 6 William 7 Richard 8 Thomas 9 Mark 10 Charles Female: 1 Mary 2 Linda 3 Patricia 4 Susan 5 Deborah 6 Barbara 7 Debra 8 Karen 9 Nancy 10 Donna Hope this helped! 5. Thanks very much!! I'm sure your script must be right - but I did alter it a bit and now it isn't working  I think the problems are either I need to tick Persistent Reference on the terminal too, or that I shouldn't be using the Refrigerator and Cabinet containers. Is this the case, do I have to use the Vending Machine specifically? Thanks again very much, J Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2It1A3ye7us (Hope it helps) Edit: If anybody else can help please respond!
  6. Hey guys, my second mod is currently WIP and I am trying to figure out how to make a vending machine in the GECK. I am quite experienced with the GECK for making interiors and can learn new skills if I need too but as a beginner scripter I fear this may be a complicated start. I know this isn't exactly a mod request but I figured this is the most appropriate place to put it as I couldn't find a script help section. So I am thinking of having a refrigerator or vending machine with an accompanying terminal situated on a desk next to it. The idea is that when you select one of the items from the terminal that it will spawn in the container (the fridge) I would also like to make it remove caps when an item is purchased but for now I will concentrate on getting the rest of the script to work! Alternatively when the player selects the option (e.g. Cram [10 Caps] ) the item will automatically be put into their inventory (maybe it could use the player.Additem command?) Thanks in advance for any of the suggestions you have it will really help! P.S. I have seen a mod like this in FO3 where you can buy three different types of Nuka-Cola from a terminal and it takes Pre-Way money.
  7. Went onto Manage Files, found that I can change the category to 'old version' and 'Update Version' :D Thanks!! :D
  8. Alright I will try both, thanks very much for your help! :)
  9. Hey sorry for the newbie question but I've already asked and it still hasn't been answered, despite many modders already knowing how to do this still nobody has replied to help me out, and I'd like to release my patch / Update 2.0 soon. Do you just delete the old file and replace it with the new one? That's what I thought I'd do but I've noticed a friend in the Friend's Activity feed 'updated' their mod, it said '*Name here* updated their mod *name here*' So is there actually an option to update, a button somewhere to replace the file, or do I have to do it manually as aforementioned. Please help because I know lots of people know this, I'm sorry I haven't taken the time to write properly and make this sound better but I just need this issue resolving; it's getting annoying!
  10. Hey I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but I'm almost ready to upload an update to my first mod but I want to make sure I'm doing it right first before I release the patch. I'm not sure what to do because I've seen in friend's activity the feed says '*Name Here* updated their mod *Name here*' I thought I should just delete the current file and then immediately after put the updated one in it's place but I think there must be another, proper way to do it? (Seeing as the website has recognized updates as opposed to saying '*name here* deleted their file *name*' and '*name here* uploaded *name here*' You know what I mean? Thanks, jahgaming
  11. Hey first of all I'm pretty sure I'm missing something really simple and I'm going to kick myself when I realize it was a pretty obvious thing. I know this might sound stupid as NMM is supposed to make downloading mods easy, but I have downloaded three mods so far (Bushmaster M4 and Beretta M9, Mobile Player Base) and they are not in FNV, I can see they are in my Mod Manager yet there is a red cross next to them. The mods are being installed into the default / root folder (into my Steam / Common / Fallout New Vegas directory and in a folder named 'Mods'. So, what am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help, J
  12. I know this will probably seem really retarded since NMM is supposed to be so easy to use, but I've installed three mods so far and none of them have activated, they're in the folders but with a red cross next to them. I'm thinking they might be installing into the wrong place but I've looked and they go into the mods folder of Fallout New Vegas so it seems to be correct... Thanks for your help I'm sure I'm just missing something really stupid and I will kick myself for not realising before.
