[After a Windows update, old saves (.F4se) not showing to load. New saves now have (.fos) extension. How do I retrieve my old saves?]

The game save file saves all the information the game normally uses and the co-save saves the information used by F4SE based mods that need to store extra information.

If you had a similar incident to me, you'll need to go into your Steam install folder (something like c:/programfiles(x86)/Steam), then find a folder called "userdata" and then you'll find a bunch of folders with numbers for names.  Sort by most recent and check them until you find your .fos save files and then copy them back to your "my games/Fallout 4/saves" directory so that they are back with the matching co-saves.

So what happened?  Fallout 4 working fine last night, Then today all this happens??  I did do what you said above.  That worked.  Wow it worked.  Fallout 4 back working again.  Its seeing all the saves now.  Great, and Thanks

[Vortex doesn't recognize save games anymore]

Fallout 4 worked perfectly fine last night.  Fallout 4 dead today.  I see vortex seems to have updated.  All my plug-ins disabled, and now game does not see any of my saves.  What the hell is going on with votex updates.????  So how in the world do I get my fallout 4 game to see the saves.  And why did vortex disable 253 plugins, and every single light plugin.  This sucks ass, now have to figure out how to get game running.  Vortex software programmers please be a little less obnoxious in the future.

Same thing.  I'm sick of vortex updates causing more crap.  I try to start my fallout 4.  I find out vortex trying to update again.  All my plug-ins disabled, and now fallout 4 can't find saves.  Stop screwing with my game communist from tweeter that Elom Musk fired...
