Hmm, I don't know if this is related, but I remember hearing about a Fallout 3 bug where characters either went to or teleported to map position 0,0. I wonder if this is where they're going?

I'm trying to get a stable collection of mods working using NMM. I aimed first for nVamp because I heard it ensures good compatibility with a useful range of mods, e.g. FOOK, IWS, XFO, PN.
I experienced a bit of flakiness and occasional crashes, so I decided to look at the load order. Apart from everything XFO being enabled (I imagine you're meant to pick and choose the difficulty you want), I noticed nVamp didn't appear at all in the load order, despite being installed and activated. Any suggestions?

Well that's a relief... first time trying to download mods from here and I got those errors. Thought the site was a dud. Hoping for improvement later today. *fingers crossed*

I'm new to the modding scene, but in general on the net I'd say that if someone has a good experience there's a 0.1% chance they'll leave feedback, and if they have a bad experience an 100% chance they'll leave feedback. ;) It's just the way people are. Having said that, I agree that salesmanship and knowing your target audience is a good idea. Personally I think it would be cool to have some small quest that you need to unlock the full features of the house, e.g. a mysterious broken robot a la ED-E, a locked door, a note from the former inhabitants, a basement full of mysterious objects, a neighbour that hates you for no good reason. Perhaps you could better cater to a hardcore audience too by making some features optional, or dependent on difficulty level. By the way, I looked in the scripting reference for how you detect the difficulty level, no luck yet! Anybody?

Well, you brought a mac. Does mac have basic usb ports? If so, can't you just buy a cheap regular mouse and use that?
Correction: I bought a PC, my fiancee bought a Mac, my PC died after many years service... here I am. ;) Yeah, USB mouse is certainly an option, but I'll try the other poster's suggestion first. Thanks!

Hi all,
I'm playing New Vegas on an Apple with Bootcamp now. Problem is that in their mighty wisdom they made a mouse that kind of fakes having two buttons - the single button can rock side to side. This means I can't aim with right click then shoot with left because it either switches out of aim when I fire, or doesn't fire at all. Is there any way to change the control scheme, e.g. use the keyboard to engage aim mode?
TIA,
JT

Thanks. Well, I found the console commands to add XP and caps. I should be able to figure out the rest from there.

I tend to play on Normal. My general play style is:
- Sneak
- Snipe
- Explore
- Fair fight where not suicidal
- Play as Good but pragmatic (and occasionally grumpy)
I'm a bit of a hoarder. I keep anything I can use for crafting or to repair my best gear. I used to loot EVERYTHING down to the ashtrays, but I like to think I have more dignity now. ;) I go very heavily loaded with weapons etc on quests and whenever going into unknown structures. I load my companions up to the eyeballs. I sometimes return just for looting runs after killing everything. I like Boone and ED-E, but I like to experiment with other companions.
I like to think I'm a bit strategic in fights, e.g. taking down stragglers from a distance before entering the main battle, using terrain and mines to my advantage (particularly with Deathclaws etc).
Exploring is a big part of my gameplay. I just head for an unexplored compass POI marker and go, or before I learned about compass markers I just walked towards the largest area with no found locations. ;)
I have a long-term view to Skills and Perks, e.g. don't take anything you can get in-game eventually or otherwise bypass.

Welcome from a similarly new member! I'm from NZ, but I'll claim affiliation by having a grandparent who had a clan tartan. ;) Not sure if I can figure out how to squeeze a Scottish accent into Fallout, but if I do I'll let you know!

Hi all,
I originally played Fallout 3 and New Vegas on XBox 360. Then it red-ringed. Then I did it all over again on the next XBox. Now I'm looking at modding, so switching to PC. Are there any quick hacks to get bootstrapped fast? I really hate the level 1 to level 15 slog. It sucks being the weakest kid on the block, not being able to explore well (which is my favourite part), and I don't want to do it for the third time if I can avoid it.
I hope I don't sound too whiny. Will try to be more upbeat going forward.
Thanks,
JT

Hi all,
I'm a professional developer and occasional gamer, and I've recently dipped my toes into game development with Unity. For some years I rarely had the time to play games so I became interested in games that don't require the fast-twitch reflexes that I lost since college. A couple of years ago Fallout 3 caught my eye, and I have since sunk over 200 hours into Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Recently I heard rumours that a new Fallout was in development... for 2015. That seems an eternity to me, so here I am to try and get my fix until then!
My personal style with Fallout (and other sandbox-style games) is to be mostly good, sneak snipe and explore. I love stumbling across new locations and secrets. I love worlds that I can change, e.g. quests with side-effects, reputation, unlockable content, etc. And I love deep history and mystery adding to the atmosphere.
I have been playing on XBox 360, but for modding I imagine I'll have to move to PC. Time to buy the games again. No doubt I'll be posting various beginner modding questions. I imagine that mod compatibility will be "fun".
Look forward to meeting you all,
JT

I would also be interested. I heard recommendations for nVamp/FOOK/IWS/PN/XFO, but so far I haven't got them working together right. Some of the projects haven't been updated in a while, so who knows if they're still compatible.
My personal goal is a collection of mods that change the experience enough to improve replayability, and reduce bugs (or at least don't increase bugs).
