[Skyrim Special Edition: Launching from NMM doesn't activate mods?]

I'm trying to figure out why I can't seem to launch Skyrim Special Edition with mods from NMM. When I press the launch button, it starts up Skyrim normally, but none of the mods that I have downloaded and installed are active. Am I missing a step?

So I'm hopping back into modding Skyrim SE again and I can't seem the launch the game with NMM and have any mods on the list enabled when playing the game.

They also do not show up in the mod menu in game.

Am I missing something? When I did this for Skyrim years ago, I just had to press the launch button, but I feel there's something else I need to do now...
