Would the next smart step be do the "Call home" tweak and try the mod? Is it the right mod for what I want? Or is there maybe an easier way of going about this? Thanks!

This happened about 2 weeks ago so I don't have the sequence of events super clear. I can't remember if there WAS an error message beyond something to the effect of "Steam has detected something is corrupt, will start download now".

I'd like to take advantage of your willingness to help out! After loving the game since the demo came out, I'd like to just mess around with it and fiddle with money and resources (possibly also research and construction times). I tried installing the Developer Mode mod (http://xcom.nexusmods.com/mods/363/?) but Steam basically told me the whole thing was corrupt and had to redownload and install the whole thing. What am I doing wrong? What's the best way to achieve what I'm trying to do?
