  1. I have a strange bug, and need help. I experienced it with only the offical dlc and their respective unoffical patches installed. Along with ihud and skyui, and skse.

The bug is that the "what do you have for sale?" dialogue is replaced with "..." If I select the "..." option, everything proceeds normallly. It's not a serious issue, but strange.

link is picture of the dialogue, for further clearification.

    Thanks!

  2. "Avoiding private investment and direct ad sales is a conscious decision that isn’t without its pitfalls, but one that I think is worth it to retain the core values of what these sites were set up for in the first place; to provide mods authors with an easy platform to share their work with others that will stand the test of time"

Thank you. This is why the nexus is the modding site I call home.

  3. I was the anonymous user :D Username: 0320407 (It's my school ID lol) And you sir are very welcome :)

Also no I didn't add him to the followers faction. I was able to easily fix the problem by just uninstalling UFO, saving, then reinstalling UFO. Boom no problem :D

I can't wait till the update is here! It's going to be so damn awesome.

As a side note, I was having also experiencing epic problems for Atvir after starting a new game-only to realize that I deleted a single script! *facepalm*. All is fixed now!

*edit* Also-since the 1.7 patch, there is a bug with custom dialogue. To fix-save, exit, reload, enjoy!

  4. So I got dawnguard, but have not yet started it. I was hoping to play a vamp, but wish to use my custom race npc, so I've been waiting for a fix. As I'm running around and questing...I see Daphne (from the blades) zooming around with the vampire lord animation. Has anyone else noticed similar behavior? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
  5. Hello all,

I originally brought this up in the oblivion forum about a year ago and it was meet with little enthusiasm-which I understand, since oblivion lacked the engine to handle my idea. However, considering Bethesda attempt to implement duel wielding, I feel it could be taken further.

For those who do not know, right now, duel wielding is extremely limited by bias for the dexteral player. If you hope to play an ambidextrous or sinistral character, the system breaks down. By which I mean, as long as the play style is right hand dominant, you can switch between weapon/shield and spells without too much trouble. Not that it is perfect in the vanilla system. Yet once you try to auto-equip a weapon/spell to the left hand this system becomes cumbersome.

    Examples:

If you wish to wield a sword in the left hand and shield in the right; too bad.

If you wish to duel wield two shields...good luck

If you want to equip a weapon in the left hand, and a whatever else in the right, you can, if you:

    1) hotkey the spell/weapon, then...

    2) press the hotkey to put it in the left hand, and then....

    3) press the hotkey again to move it to the right hand, and then....

    4) equip the weapon.

    and then: (optional, but likely)

    5) suffer and possibly die because an enemy hit you three times while you were getting mussing around with your equipment. *sigh, reload*

And I'm sure other problems exist in the vanilla duel wielding/lefty wielding system that I did not include, in fact, if you know of any, please share them!

My idea to fix this is, sadly, far beyond my meager skills as a modder (sorry all, I earned my degree in psychology- e.g. no background in scripting).

Yet, we have SKSE and AMAZING talent in our community, so I'm confident someone could fix this.

My suggestion to get the ball rolling would be a key-press script (similar to what script dragon does in iHUD) that toggles which hand the player equips an item/spell. The toggle key, for arguments sake, could be "L" for left and (maybe) "R" for right. In theory, you could favorite a weapon/spell and that would auto equip to the right hand, or you could favorite a weapon/spell while pressing the toggle "L" to auto equip that item to the left hand. What type of item should have little effect. Shields, weapons and spells could all be assigned by toggle to which-ever hand the player wished.

Wow, that ended up longer than I intended it to be, but I hope at least one person reads it and thinks "Yeah, that needs to be fixed, and I know just who could do it."

A note on a much further removed, but very much related note: Has anyone else noticed that kill-cams only use the right hand? Duel wielding does not show up properly, and Lefty wielding does not have a kill cam at all that I can tell. :( I'm afraid we will need an animator to fix that mess.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading and thank you for (positive) feedback)

  6. SkyUI is dependent on SKSE I believe, not ScriptDragon.

Skyui does not need scriptdragon, but iHud did if you used the toggle function. If you hall iHud installed and you pull scriptdragon entirely from your skyrim folder and still can't run the game try reinstalling iHud with the toggle off. That *should* fix any issues.

  7. Since the new update and SKSE I've had frequent CTD problems. :wallbash: My game was stable (except back with that...was it 1.1 update that screwed almost everyone) Luckily, I keep backups of everything.

So I reverted SKSE (from SKSE 1.4.13 to 1.4.12), TESV.exe and SkyrimLauncher.exe (from 1.4.27 to 1.4.21) and...no problems. Even with any new mods installed.

So my question is this: Does anyone know if the issue or CTD lies with SKSE, the latest Bethesda update or mod order, or any combination of the three? I'm currently running a handful of esp mods and a fair number of interface and texture mods. I'm leaning toward load order, so what can a non-programmer like myself do while I wait for BOSS or another manager program is updated and hope they can fix the mess?

Thanks for any words of wise and remember, back up those files!

  8. I came here to post this concern on the forum, an here I find others with similar problems. Since the new update and SKSE I've had massive CTD problems. As in, unplayable CTD issues. My game has always been stable (except back with that...was it 1.3 update that screwed almost everyone) Luckily, I keep backups of everything. So I reverted SKSE, TESV.exe and TESV_launcher.exe and no problems. So my question is this: Does anyone know if the issue SKSE, the latest Bethesda update or mod order, or any combination of the three? I'm running a handful of esp mods and a fair few interface and texture mods. Thanks for the help and remember! Back up those files!
  9. I was worried to apply the beta patch since I was running quite a few mods that need SKSE, plus skyboost and SKSE launcher extender. I looked but didn't see any obvious answer to my concern, "will my modded game run with the beta patch without too much fuss?"

    answer, Yes.

    - currently running the most recent skyui and Ihud (but without scriptdragon), better sorting, , tytanis, realistic lighting w'o post processing, and a few others that should not be affected by the updates, basically bunches of retexes.

I removed skyboost and SKSE launcher extender. Then I installed the new SKSE 1.4.05 and downloaded the new beta patch. I checked that everything was active in wrye smash and guess what?

The game runs. I have not noticed any bad behavior (hits to FPS) or any gains (however, considering I was using two mods to improve gameplay, and now only the patch, that says something good).

It runs, basically like it did before. Now, since I loaded an existing save that was well established/developed in the game, I noticed immediately that some of the quest bugs still existed, however, I am hopeful that my next character (since will likely be after the beta period is over) will go smoother.

Things that the beta patch changed (read, the bare minimum that need back-uped in case the patch and my (your) current build do not get along):

    skyrim.exe

    skyrimlaucher

    update.esm

    (possibly, maybe)

    strings/Update_English (three files)

    skyrimprefs.ini

    Hope that helps, happy gaming

  10. However, after reading through the comments in this forum, members like myself should apparently not comment, or ask questions for any mod, because feedback, even when coming from a place of support and appreciation, can sound like "pure trolling" or "sugarcoated" trolling. Somehow, that idea makes me sad and cheapens the entire concept of the nexus community.

I can only say you're wrong in this assumption. Such perceived-but-not-intended "trolling" rarely ever gets banned. In most cases it's the tone someone's using rather than the message brought across which got the user banned for trolling.

Read up the "banned users" posts where moderators provide evidence and cause for why a user got banned. You will not find a single one getting rid of wasn't for the best.

I'd actually call posts such as this "fear mongering"... if I was to use such expressions that is. If it wasn't for the feedback I received on my first WIP screenshots asking me to release my stuff, I'd never have come to the actively releasing side of the community to begin with. As soon as there won't be any feedback at all anymore, there won't be any of my mods released to the public either. I for one welcome any kind of feedback I receive, for this is the only cause for my mods being hosted here. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. So, could people please stop making others "afraid" of commenting in general for not to risk getting banned?

(On a sidenote, it takes far more than breaking every single rule of the Nexus TOS to even remotely offend me or hurt my feelings the slightest. Not all modders are that way, sure, but not all are the other extreme either.)

its not fear of being banned that made me post here, nor was it an assumption. It is the realization that many of the comments I've made to modders could be misconstrued as something other than support.
