  1. I just don't understand how she could miss a huge hole like that in her own basement....especially when her "babies" are down there...haha. I never liked that woman...just something about her is like....UGH!!
Just a heads up, I am pretty sure that your signature is over the limits...the limits are in the avatar/sig rules thread.

As far as not knowing the hole was there, I tend to think that she knows, and that she simply thought her rats were trained enough to not leave while she figured out a cheap way to fix it. But that might be me thinking up excuses for why it is the way it is.

Maybe she wanted ventilation for the occasionally really hot Anvil afternoons?

Though the two things that still make me wonder about that woman is why did she let her house get so damaged as to have a huge hole in the wall through which anything practically could get through, and how did the mountain lions get into the city itself without being noticed by someone who alerts the guards...? And certainly the rats oughtn't be the first thing the mountain lions notice upon entering the city...

  2. When I mod, I usually do it for myself (which is quite rarely in itself). Usually what I wish to alter in the game are mostly issues I had in the Vanilla version of Oblivion, or mixing two mods I downloaded from elsewhere together to make the load of the game easier on the game itself and the system.

When I'm not doing one of those two things, I sometimes add additional areas to pre-existing dungeons/caves/etc. and base the add-ons on the appearance of earlier parts of the locale. Sometimes I'll make an Ayleid ruin change from a cave filled with undead to a rebel base that goes periodically to harass the people and guards of a city.

  3. It's probably either one of Oblivion's many glitches in action again, or they were actually attacked by something or someone (provided they were in the wilderness).

It's impossible to bring them back to life in the console versions of the game (that I know of), and although you can resurrect them in the PC version, often, certain dialogue was meant at the time they were first alive, and afterwards they become only generic NPC's, and lack the special dialogue options (only with a few of them though).

  4. Uploading mods was the main reason why I came here originally. I don't have any of my mods on Nexus anymore, but they're still available on filefront if one is so inclined...

Reason why I took them off was I was disappointed with Nexus at one point, though that point has long passed now. Still, I can't be bothered to upload them again, so that's why they're not here again...

However, back to the story: After uploading my mods, then I noticed far more mods than I had ever seen... and soon a mod rush began... I didn't post first in the forums, but rather commented on files and such. I accidentally discovered the forums about a year ago and learned that my username was valid there so I decided to check it out and... 1000+ posts....

  5. What about making all of such cures/medicines from plants

Actually, most medicines that can't be made synthetically are manufactured using genetically modified bacteria (Humilin is an example; see earlier in the thread). Animals aren't used much in production, but are required for testing because FDA regulations forbid human testing before animal studies have established some level of safety.

Nobody in the pharmaceutical industry wakes up with a smile on his face, gets in a large black van, and goes around slaughtering stray cats all day for sadistic pleasure. Animals are bred because they are more valuable than the resources used to feed and house them. (Keep in mind also that the overwhelming majority of animals used in testing would not otherwise have been born.) Animal testing is done because saving a human life would create even more value. It's all a very reasonable, and necessary, economic exchange.

I understand that there's a need for animal testing for such things to a certain extent for helping us in terms of health and economically, though I think that the few of those people who do go around slaughtering the animals are the ones that make me so angry about the idea. I know it's necessary if we expect to live past 50 years of age with the cures and medicines we get off of such studies... Though they really ought to deal more harshly with the few that have the audacity to go and abuse the animals.

If all of the guys experimenting on them were following the proper ethical methods to make sure the animals were being treated necessarily and not receiving forms of abuse nor malnutrition, I'd have less of a problem with the issue as a whole. Those few idiots that hurt the animals knowingly and carelessly are the ones that make it as controversial an issue as it is now.

  6. I am an oblivion fanatic quite frankly i have incorperated at least 250 mods of varying degress from tesnexus and recently i have tried playing the shivering isles and when i enter the roon to talk to Haskul, I cannot sit so the quest does not iniate. I cant sit at all. I've tried loading a new charater and trying but to no avail. I would love to have some help on resovling this issue.

With so many mods, you're bound to have a conflict of sorts. You may have to do a mod sweep and disable all your mods, and reactivate them one-by-one to see which one(s) might be causing the issue. Enable a couple, start the game, if it works, add a few more, and repeat until you find if a mod's causing it or not.

  7. I know personally that I wouldn't give up my life to such research, but that doesn't change my opinion about how the treatment of animals conducted in such experiments is beyond description... What about making all of such cures/medicines from plants rather, or is someone going to step in and say that plants have just as many right as well...

Well, something has to give... I personally, would use the plants first before animals, though even then, certain ethics have to be placed and enforced so plants don't go extinct or whatnot.

  8. If I have heard correctly using FullActorCopy can cause Bloating...just a heads up. I would be VERY careful about doing such...

How is that exactly? I've used the cheat many times before and nothing bloated that I know of at least... The only thing that happened was

that the cheat made a clone of the NPC that I had selected through the console...

  9. Question though: Why would you only want to manipulate them, and not kill them as well? It's possible (unlikely but still possible) that there may be a point in which all three of your companions are knocked out at about the same time and the enemy(ies) focus on you...
  10. XP without a doubt. Tried Vista at the stores, didn't like the layout. I'm looking forward to windows 7 though.

Tried Mac quite a few times before, and I think it's really good for pretty much any non-video-game function, and it's mostly free of viruses.

  11. I would love to have the natural talent of story telling and creative writing. I envy and admire those that can put their thoughts and imagination into a story.

Have you tried writing for real? Maybe if you haven't, you should and maybe you have one in it just waiting to come out...

  12. 4: After the Nenalata quest, if you used the helmet of Lindai, you can never repair it (unless maybe you are really patient).

5: There is a house in the middle of the West Weald woods (near the priory of the Knights of the Nine if you have the expansion installed) that has been taken over by bandits, is not marked with a map marker, and gets destroyed by an Oblivion gate after the main quest portion of Kvatch where you rescue Martin.

  13. Choose either destruction or conjuration in my opinion. Both are ways of offense, so it kinda takes away from your fighting skills. Also, remove sneak and replace it with something that'll help you more in the long run like armorer. The faster you can get master level on armorer, the better for you, and having it as a major skill is going to give it a good initial boost.

But I would ask you, what's the point of Blade if you can always attack from a distance? That's just me though.

Blade or blunt is good, IMO. It's a good solution to deal with those enemies that end up getting it your face. Either use blunt, or don't change blade at all. Distance-ranged weapons/powers won't help you when the enemy gets in your face.

Restoration or alchemy is good. You can either restore yourself with potions that you make or healing spells you acquire. It's up to you mostly with that decision.

Illusion is also good, though mysticism might help as well. You can soul trap or detect nearby enemies through walls with mysticism, or paralyze enemies approaching you and light-up dark areas with illusion. Again, this is mostly your choice.

  14. Well of course it's possible. Just be sure you have another skill (preferably in your case, a non-magic one) with which you're able to defeat your enemies and that you're good in. Illusion in itself does not kill enemies, and you can only paralyze/demoralize/control them for so long...

My suggestion, find that sword and sharpen it, then make your illusion mage.

  15. I would want to live for as long as I'm healthy. If I were in good physical shape for 300 years and able to live a regular and happy life thats fine. Same goes with the other way around, if I were 21 and paralyzed from the neck downward and became dependant on others to live I would want to die.

My feelings exactly... Why not let the healthy people who can contribute even more to the society live longer through a few alterations in the body that let them live longer?

Ought to be something like this: Live twice as long, age twice as slow. Live thrice as long, age thrice as slow, etc.
