  1. So, back to Turntlogic's point: Yup; you're right. I disabled all mods and the game started from Steam with no issues. Then I enabled just SKSE in Votrex and the game will start up from Vortex/SKSE. So, I conclude that the course of action is the onerous but obvious one. I will start enabling mods and see when it breaks. Thank you for your attention. On another note, it has been years since I have seen good-old, vanilla, un-modded Skyrim. Wow. Thank you to every mod author and supporter who makes Skyrim what it can be. You are the Aedra. "May The All-Maker guide you."
  2. I did not know that about LOOT. Thank you. I realize that some of the "fixes" I have tried may have created their own problems and I wouldn't know it, yet. A crash log doesn't seem to get created as the game doesn't crash. I have to use the Task Manager to stop the hung process. I haven't disabled all the mods, yet and tried to start it that way. I know that's a straightforward step, but I was hoping there might be something easier.
  3. I am getting an infinite loading screen before The Main Menu even comes up. I start Skyrim SE and the Bethesda logo will appear, then the Imperial Dragon Skyrim logo, with a spinning loading circle on the bottom right of the page. Then it just hangs up and stays there. I never get to the main menu. This happens whether I start Skyrim with Vortex SKSE, or from Steam, or the Skyrim Launcher. About a week ago I finished a play-through in which I had around 1,100 plug-ins working pretty well together. Before I started a new play-through, I spent some time updating my mod list. · I deleted mods I didn’t want to use again · Installed updates to mods that had updates available · Installed some new mods. · I let Vortex update to 1.11.7.0 (which I think just added extensions). · Steam updated, as it always does. After doing that I get the infinite loading screen. I am using Skyrim SE version 1.6.1170.0, Steam, Vortex, SKSE In attempting to solve this I searched for what other people have written about this problem. My actions have included: · Turned the PC off and on again. · Disabled all new mods I installed since the last time I could get the game started. · Ran LOOT, resolved all error messages. · Applied LOOT recommended load order. · Re-installed SKSE · Deleted and Re-installed Skyrim SE I would appreciate any suggestions. If you have an idea about a specific mod or mods that might be a problem and wonder whether I use that mod(s), then assume that I do. Even if I don’t use it, I would still like to hear about your experiences and fixes for mods, and I suspect other people would like to hear that as well. My hardware is adequate for the mods I was running, and for the ones newly downloaded. The only other possibility that occurred to me for why I can’t get back to Skyrim is that while I wasn’t paying attention, Alduin won and ate Nirn. Help me, Dragonborn: You’re my only hope.
  4. It seems like someone posts on this thread with this problem every year or so,. Now here I am with the same problem, and maybe a fix. It worked for me, anyway. Open the Race Menu, either with the Face Sculptor, or mod (I have used "Face Sculpting In a Book" and "Proteus"), console command, or whatever you choose. Then go to Race and select your race. This then allowed me to access all the hair styles, eye colors, etc. It also re-set all my Skills to the new character racial-base level and allowed/forced me to level up Legendary Skills. I hope this helps someone who finds this thread in the months or years to come.
