I am getting an infinite loading screen before The Main Menu even comes up. I start Skyrim SE and the Bethesda logo will appear, then the Imperial Dragon Skyrim logo, with a spinning loading circle on the bottom right of the page. Then it just hangs up and stays there. I never get to the main menu. This happens whether I start Skyrim with Vortex SKSE, or from Steam, or the Skyrim Launcher.
About a week ago I finished a play-through in which I had around 1,100 plug-ins working pretty well together. Before I started a new play-through, I spent some time updating my mod list.
· I deleted mods I didn’t want to use again
· Installed updates to mods that had updates available
· Installed some new mods.
· I let Vortex update to 1.11.7.0 (which I think just added extensions).
· Steam updated, as it always does.
After doing that I get the infinite loading screen.
I am using Skyrim SE version 1.6.1170.0, Steam, Vortex, SKSE
In attempting to solve this I searched for what other people have written about this problem. My actions have included:
· Turned the PC off and on again.
· Disabled all new mods I installed since the last time I could get the game started.
· Ran LOOT, resolved all error messages.
· Applied LOOT recommended load order.
· Re-installed SKSE
· Deleted and Re-installed Skyrim SE
I would appreciate any suggestions.
If you have an idea about a specific mod or mods that might be a problem and wonder whether I use that mod(s), then assume that I do. Even if I don’t use it, I would still like to hear about your experiences and fixes for mods, and I suspect other people would like to hear that as well.
My hardware is adequate for the mods I was running, and for the ones newly downloaded.
The only other possibility that occurred to me for why I can’t get back to Skyrim is that while I wasn’t paying attention, Alduin won and ate Nirn. Help me, Dragonborn: You’re my only hope.
