  1. Ok, this one is weird, I went to go into Honest Hearts to check out (and record at) the Zion Penthouse mod...and...well, it seems now I need to join the caravan to get there, even though I've already been there, and wiped the White-Legs off the map already, then returned to the Mojave... Weird... I've been back there to check out the Zion Autumn Estate mod, it was ok, but still, I uninstalled it...it was a bit glitchy in Goodsprings (there was a weird door to nowhere halfway up a wall of Chet's trader shack...) Alright, now, here's the problem... The caravan people have been dead a few years now... ...kinda hard to join them if they're dead-meat already... It's not like I can join them...being dead and all that. My question, it would seem, is how do I enter Zion now? Hey, if all it takes is a console command, whatever, lay it on me :) Roachbait FNV
  2. Wow, I didn't realize Gary had died back then...
  3. In response to post #27586105. You just described "Redneck Rampage" too....hmmm
  4. I was glad to be of help, if I really was...what surprises me is the upper ages are so low in percentage, we were kids back when video games first came around...back in the 70's. We grew up and watched as they started to evolve, from the pre-cambrian-ages of computer life. I remember when there was no such thing as "Sonic, the Hedgehog", or, any of the others after that...there was "Pong", and like, what, three other games? The very first game, the space one, and a couple more, and they were very obscure, and you had to know the right people to even know about them...then Space-Invaders...Asteroids...Missile Command...Atatri (and others) hit it big with the consoles they put out...Donkey Kong later on...Dig-Dug...Defender...On and on...I spent mountains of quarters on them all...and then some. Maybe the rest lost interest, I never did, video games had me hooked...I found levels of "immersion" kids today will never succumb to in video arcades of the past, in new things called "Malls". Although they yet complain that what is around now isn't enough...you want real "immersion" go outside, and play in the yard, like WE did as kids...there was NO cable tv...NO real desktop computers...NO internet...NO cell phones...those things were all new to me, one by one, and many like me, decades ago. We wonder at the youth today, and wonder how they can even complain, they have it soooo easy, and so readily handed to them on a silver platter, with a velvet pillow...we had footballs, basketballs, baseballs, or, maybe, a Frisbee to play with...or Hot Wheels...and past that, it was the imaginations of those around us we used to inspire us, or our own thoughts and wishes...past books, Dungeons and Dragons, etc... Most kids, and young adults, couldn't even imagine a world without the internet...MANY of us were around, long, long, before it ever was. I only wished I had toys this nice...back when I was their age. That false sense of entitlement has always bothered me...they ask for so much, yet never lift a finger to enable it, or make it so...The world owes no one any favors, yet they complain about graphics? Or frame-rates? Or a connection they don't even pay for? There was no such thing, thirty+ years ago...
  5. In response to post #27623835. #27624585, #27624860, #27625270, #27628155, #27628655 are all replies on the same post. I assume you think "Fruit of the Loom" is still around 200+ years after the bombs fell, guess what...? If you have some sort of problem with nudity, discuss it with your therapist. Diversity extends to personal expression by what we wear as HUMANS, or what we choose NOT to wear, in-game, or otherwise...I personally love to have a choice in the matter, and extend that to my in-game persona...I'm sorry if you think everyone should think the same, dress the same, eat the same, drive the same, work the same...NOTHING is the same, anywhere in the real world...and we like to choose how to express ourselves...there are filters, if you want to close your mind, enable them, please, HURRY...just don't try to shove your limited perceptions down everyone's throat...many of those mods take hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of work, and you sneer at them, because they are too "skimpy"? Really? You do realize this is 2015? Right? I mean, grow up...If I choose to run around starkers, who are you to say it's wrong? Perhaps it makes the game more of a challenge NOT to plow over every enemy wearing power armor (or it's skyrim equivalent) fully encased in a futuristic sardine-can...Really...the human body is a beautiful thing, that is, unless if you have some sort of self-esteem problem...Whatever you do, stay out of museums, and art galleries...it may totally offend you beyond your own belief...Some of the best art on Earth are paintings and sculptures of nudes...if you hate that, you hate yourself...
  6. One good way to get into the world of tabletop role-playing is to seek out conventions, or "Cons". Gen-Con (or, "Role-Player Mecca"..)takes place every year in Geneva, Wisconsin, and you have a very good chance of meeting Mr. Gygax himself, if you're lucky, he's pretty cool. For me, it was truly a pilgrimage. Some colleges around the country also have yearly events, though they are not really 'hyped-up" as much anymore. Hexicon used to be one I went to in Greensboro, NC, as a DM...but, that was years ago, so they may not even have it any more, or changed what it's name is. At one point or another, everyone is new to the game, so don't let that bother you. It's better to just be a player who pays attention to the details a DM begrudgingly gives out, and be a group-player...most people who go "lone-wolf" end up being part of some dragons treasure trove later on. Hope that helps. Roachbait
  7. On a note: there is a file called Plugins.txt and another called Pluginsfnvviewsettings.txt for Fallout New Vegas...there may be similar files like this for Skyrim...if those two files were marked as "hidden" in their properties, no plugins would load for me...I looked for the answer for a year, then found it, myself....sounds exactly like what is happening to you...Gopher mentioned it, in passing ("Bad things could happen, if those are hidden") in one of his videos...you may want to peruse his library of videos on YouTube...
  8. Alright, Nivea, you may find this interesting, the version I had was called Killable Kids(not Children)_v8-39148-8-0, (not the version you link here) in the texture part of the tree, it only has the interface file, it lacks the character file...the esp itself is larger, 64,071kb vs 61,491kb, a fallout_default.ini and instructions text file are also added in the data file. The KKTorsoFemale.nif and KKTorsoMale.nif are far smaller than in the link you sent (the female especially, it's 192,724kb vs 1,140,304 kb), the perk files are identical, save one thing...under packed (4,293kb for perk_childkiller.dds, and 4,858kb for perk_midgecide.dds) where the linked above is at 0, for both...makes me wonder what else was added...the files you mention are not present in my data folder, under meshes or textures (none around that even start with "child", in either one.) Now, I can't exactly remember where I got the file from, it was around a year ago (1/11/2014), I do remember having a hard time locating the mod (something about people thinking kids are immune to bullets, etc...), the closest thing I could find (easily) on Nexus was the Raider Kids mod....but, I was still kinda new to the way the filters worked too. (See below, I did some back-checking...it was in the forums.) At the time, I didn't even consider someone may have stolen this file, I just figured it was considered a "taboo" issue on the Nexus, like sex mods, and, like how with Fallout 2, it wouldn't allow you to kill children in the European/overseas released versions of the game...I just figured that was still the case then... I do understand the risks of "wild" downloads, and in this case, for the above reason, I took the chance...I really had no idea it was stolen...it seems I found the link here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/ , opened by babyeatdingo (a name you don't soon forget) in Nexus mod talk...in the only reply, a link there goes to "tiny upload.com", and the download itself has since expired, I can guess why...now. Consider me chastised. Perhaps someone needs to do something about people who provide links for stolen mod material...even the person who provided the link was worried about being banned for doing so...(I do remember seeing in the post about it being removed for "unknown reasons", by the link provider, maybe those reasons need to be made public, beforehand? To avoid this sort of thing.). My question now would be if installing the legit version would be a fix...and enabling/running the game/disabling would set everything right again...with a new save after disabling, of course... Roachbait
  9. Ok, maybe, I should give you guys a little background too... I've been modding for over a year now, I followed Gophers videos to a "T" and have had certain issues to figure out on my own, (with hidden Plugins files) Archive invalidation (invalidated or otherwise) isn't one of them...repeated attempts to "start-over" with new .ini files (all of them, one of each, in sequence, one at a time) are not a fix, either. I use Beware of Girl meshes, and Breezes for males, (ghoul versions for both male and female) Real-Feel on top of that, Tan-Lines, and XunAMarox Oily Skins also. I have deactivated and reactivated all of my skin meshes and still get the same result on the kids in Freeside, even when they are all off, there is no change. I am thinking it is a residual file left over from when the mod was deactivated and removed, it did merge a file on initial install of the mod, and there is an extra file left in the male mesh character file "upperbody.nif" which doesn't show up in the original install of the main game file (my backup copy)... I also run the Willow mod, and I would hate to mess her up by pulling out .nif files she may rely on to exist. As you can see, this killable kids mod has left me running through a shell range of my own, even though it is gone. See for yourself, poor Rat Boy needs help...: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=419466012 Again, any help would be appreciated. Roachbait
  10. Ok, seems the Boomers liked to shell their own children and blame me for it, any time I fast-travelled anywhere near Freeside, they would spawn in with me, then run to the targeting zone for the howitzers, and get blown to smithereens. I got blamed. Well, not being one to get the "Child Killer" perk for something I didn't do, I deactivated, and removed the mod. Now, when I look at the crier for Mickey and Ralphs, along his neckline I see what seems to be distorted fingers, like the mesh texture is nerfed-up. Lo, and behold! All the kids in Freeside share the same mesh/texture issue. I checked for residual files left over...nothing from the Killable Kids .rar is there. If you want to check it out, you can look at my screenshots on Steam (I'll put a close-up shot up) , same name. It's not game-breaking, but, it is an error of some kind, which can lead to being game-breaking... Any help on this issue would be welcome. Roachbait
  11. I've had the same problem for over a year now...it's kept me locked out of NMM the whole time...(Edit: tried CCleaner...no dice...still not working...)
  12. All of a sudden, I am getting a message when I INSTALL mods..."The selected plugin has been manually removed. Restart NMM or select again your game on Change Game Mode to refresh the plugin list." I can no longer install new mods...any time I enable or disable mods/plugins...I get that message even with NEW mods I try to add...it makes no sense...everything used to work just fine, now I have an unmanageable mod manager...which has locked ALL related files to FNV to "read-only"...all I ask is "Why?" and "How do I fix this?", ...and all I hear is silence...it's been a week now...yes...I did an uninstall/reinstall of NMM as you normally had to in the past when a new version came out, yes I validated my cache files and danced around with a bloody chicken foot in one hand and a bone in my hair under a full moon, while drinking rum and...you get the idea...I told the install to make all files "not read-only" and to "remember my selection" (like, who wouldn't ?) I want it to work right...that's all...I've submitted bug reports, contacted mod makers of the mods I tried to install, bugged people in chats, and in real life...it's kinda like I'm screaming into the VOID, and getting NO reply at all...Roachbait
  13. Recently uninstalled/reinstalled NMM...my old mod list is intact, yet, none of the new mods I try to add will "take"...either in the NMM, or, in the "data" list of the vanilla launcher...any ideas? anyone? (yes, I run it as "admin", it's win7, and it worked fine before...I get a "The selected plugin has been manually removed. Restart NMM or select again your game on Change Game Mode to refresh the plugin list." message when I check a new esp, and, if I do what NMM tells me, it remains the same, the esp's are still unchecked after the refresh/restart of NMM...)...I'm "chompin'-at-the-bit" here, because it makes no sense at all, and nothing I can think of seems to fix it...the old mods I had installed are still there, and work fine...I can't seem to add any more...The mods are added/enabled, so, why not the esp's that go with them? It's really weird...4 mods so far, have failed...radar, flashlight, AWOP, and FNV interiors...makes no sense at all...
  14. Gopher has some very good advice for modding: http://www.youtube.com/user/GophersVids He goes all through the proper ways to deal with mods... ...and Yeah, NVSE is pretty crucial with FNV mods...a lot of them won't even work without it...
  15. "Run from Cazadores?" hehehe...never, I run AT them, crippling their wings, and their legs, then dropping sticks of dynamite or frag grenades on them as I pass by...a few well-placed shots with even a lowly 9mm pistol turns them into helpless fodder...it's not like anti-venom is rare anyways, if they DO manage to sting me a couple times (trust me, I've been surrounded by them more than once...), it's usually your followers that will have more problems than you do, seeing how they just stop and try to go "mano-a-mano" with each, and every one (Veronica especially), their greatest strength (flying), is easily taken care of in V.A.T.S., and they aren't really all that fast on "foot", so crippling a leg (or two) REALLY puts them in their place...explosives seem to be extremely effective against them also...with enough practice killing them, you too will be able to say "Aw, Hell, there's ONLY six of them...no problem..."...I hate bugs myself, and used to fear them also, maybe that's why I love killing them so much...
  16. Always liked the 9mm Semi-Auto Pistol, and use it as a Primary Weapon: Low ap cost, and, with extended mags you can literally fill the air with lead, the ammo is cheap, and fairly plentiful...so if you do miss here and there, it's not like missing with an Anti-Material Rifle ( "...well, THERE went way too many caps...sigh..." ), besides that, it looks good too...and, it aims a lot easier at lower exp levels, doesn't wave all over the sky as you take a bead...the +p ammo helps a lot, as does the hollow-points, given whatever situation you come across, and doesn't weigh all that much to have both types (in hardcore)...it may seem like a weak weapon at first glance, but, if used properly, you can get quite a bit of mileage out of it...even at half condition level, it will rarely even miss...
  17. You might want to see how it's done right...because being told "how-to", and seeing it done at the same time can make a big difference. I go by how Gopher sets it up, do a search on Youtube to find his vids if the link below won't work (for some reason it won't let me paste the link here, so I'll just type it in...) http://www.youtube.com/user/GophersVids weird, (had to type it in manual)...ok...He's got a set of vids just for installing NMM and getting NVSE, Darnified UI, MCM, uHud and oHud all playing well together, along with good suggestions for texture mods and weather options... besides that, with Archive InvalidationInvalidated! you need to change ALL THREE .ini files for the game (.ini, Prefs, and _default) or, it wont work...the details are in the read-me for the file, and, are linked at the mod page also...just remember to back up your original files, and save after making changes to the .ini's...pretty simple
  18. I've been hunting this rifle down for about a week now, still no luck...Saw it in a play-through by Alchestbreach (a couple months ago), and I'd just love to get my hands on such a sweet weapon, not only does it look good (nice iron-sights, and textures), it sounds nice, and packs a wallop, if anyone out there knows what mod it's in, I'd really like to know, (and, whomever can help me will definitely be mentioned in my upcoming vids...) The Wasteland Maid Service really needs a weapon like this, for those "special" clean-up jobs...
  19. ...I'm getting this too...I can go "offline" but, what good is that? Yeah...I can get into it...but, that means no downloads directly from the nexus directly to the NMM...what bothers me is, that I can log in (sign in) here, and on the main page...but, not through NMM ? It's like, it ignores my password totally for the NMM, which is part of what made it enable in the first place...is it the recent Steam updates? Or, did I not drink enough cups of coffee today? 5 minutes later... Ok...seems they updated the NMM to 0.46.0, simple to fix...downloaded it...installed it...redid my name/password...NMM works now... ...just install it right over the old directory you set before, it won't touch the mods installed, which had me worried for a second, thinking I'd have to go find them all again, and put them all back in, it left them all alone, and installed...it would be kinda nice if they gave us a "head's-up" (via general notification on the log-in pop-up box for NMM, or, a message through Steam (if NMM was detected in use by the game involved), etc...) or, just had an automatic updater system of some kind built into it (I mean what would it be? five or six lines of scripting, either way?) which would save a lot of panic...In this day of instant (or nearly so) communication, it's strange how quiet it is...
  20. Sorry to take so long to get back...I did a "clean save" load from a few of the previous dozen or so saves I had...same thing for all of them...the Mod Configuration Menus still locked up on any second menu access in the menu itself. Even after disabling the mod, uninstalling it, deleting the ini files, restarting the game to rebuild the ini's, exiting the game, reinstalling the mods for the huds (in correct order, along with the edits to the ini's for Darned UI, etc...) all the way back to, and including Darnified UI. Tried "clean saves", and restarting a new game...no adjustable hud, I could select the option...but nothing moved with the numpad keys, or aswd keys, hitting "5" to reset was even disabled, I could click on "ok", but nothing happened there either, had to hit esc to get back out, to a faded pause menu(again)(maybe a bad copy of MCM...or NMM, itself...???)...so I figured it wasn't even worth going into reinstalling Project Nevada, MCM was already being "wonky"...and if ohud and uhud were part of it, it would be better to just start all over with everything...I bought the game disc, so reinstalling the whole game takes like three minutes...(compared to 5 hours if you go through Steam...no thanks...I'd already spent the better part of my time off for a week trying to fix this...) checked the ini's...they had been set back to "crazy, with missing sections"...again...weird...I totally uninstalled EVERYTHING tied to FNV at that point, I had had enough by then, and it was late (early morning by then, like 6 am...I work 'til midnite...). After reinstall of the whole mess, and closely (and I mean pause and replay a few times...) watching Gophers videos yet one+ more times, it seems to be working right, so far...going to avoid PN for a while, it has nice toys and all that...but, I can get most of those options as separate mods, If I want to, or just live without them...as they say..."It is better to have loved, and lost...than to have never loved at all..." I can go through it all over now, and find everything all over again...the journey is the best part...and sometimes starting all over new is better than trying to save something that's already dead anyways... Anyway...thanks for trying to help, at least I learned something... Roachbait
  21. ok...thanks...tried it... a "no-go", it still did it....tried to wait until I left the Doc's house, and it either crashed leaving Doc Mitchells, or just locked up..so I just reinstalled the whole game and ditched NMM and mods...maybe, some day, they can make the mods a little more compatable with each other and avoid issues like this...or a manger that can handle the files better, but, that would probably be asking too much...maybe it was a corrupted file in one of my downloads...maybe after another 500+ hours of playing this, again, i'll want to try to mod it again...until then...I don't know...thanks for trying to help anyways...
  22. ok...here it is : when I open the pause menu, then go to the mod configuration menu and open it, everything looks fine...just wait, it's coming...if I open, for example, Project Nevada rebalance...or any other menu in mcm that has a slider or second menu choice (I can check and uncheck boxes all day long..Yay!)...if I click on it...nothing happens...the option is not selected...then MCM locks up...only way out of it is to hit esc...then the pause menu s faded...and unusable, save for the mod menu nightmare...I applied the mcm bug fix...it obviously didn't fix THIS...I recently had my drivers updated for my graphics card, which reset all my display settings for every game I have (thanks Steam....), yes, I validated the files for the game...now unless its a load-order issue...my next move is to totally reinstall the whole game and start all over...I'm sort of at my wits-end...I've been fiddling with this for over a week now...so I haven't even been able to get to play at all...FNVEdit is little help...Boss won't arrange my load order either...says it can't find some file to write to, so it's useless until I somehow manage to figure that puzzle out too...I use NMM ONLY...no Fomm or Fook or Geck...or nifSkope...just a n00b here...This all used to work perfectly...had my game set up real nice...now, its nothing but a headache...here's my load-order, in case if that helps...I've disabled and enabled everything ten times now, moved stuff all over, and read dozens of forum entries, and watched countless tutorials...nothing seems to shine the light on this issue.
