  1. "Moving on...we have already acquiesed to allowing an opt-out. Only having mods added based on opt-in would essentially kill our attempt at building this utility before we even got a chance to try (which I'm sure some people here would be more than ok with). I guess my personal issue with this (not speaking for the MP team) is that I believe knowledge and information should be free to everyone. If we were trying to host your mods or allowing autodownloads I would be in 100% agreement that it should only be on an opt-in basis. The difference is that we are attempting to build a database filled with accurate information which ties back to my belief that information should be free and shared. This context is important as our goal centers around accuracy and the sharing of correct information. It's a bit similar to the ethos of Wikipedia in that regard. Sure people can come in and try to screw things up but that is where a highly active moderation team with a powerful toolset comes into play." Terrorfox's response after 42 pages of heated discussion, showing that it was all for naught, and that they still refuse to compromise on the singular issue that has most of us in a fever heat: The freedom/ right to choose where our content, and thus, our inherent interests and passion in creating the same is displayed. A simple opt-in system could have easily quelled this tempest before it even began, but they still choose to put their own egos before the rights of those who actually create the content. I'm instantly, irrevocably and perpetually done with Mod Picker.
  2. sunshinenbrick just echoed most of my primary concerns quite well.
  3. I think you should be fine, as long as the file paths don't explictly include the E: drive, and stem from the Skyrim folder.
  4. I second Reneer's proposal as well. Having the discussion out in the open would be of great benefit.
  5. Aurlyn Dawnstone might interest you; she dosn't have any implemented quests as of yet (although they are fully written and voiced), but she does have a facinating backtory/ stories to tell, and other things such as poems and philosophy to elludicate. Now, you may think I'm going off topic, but after all, quests are nothing more than realized visions of the stories that we weave, and thus, are fundementally the same as any story you or I might tell tale of. Thus, Aurlyn has been shaped by her quests more than anything else, and meets all the requirements above. Oh, and Darkrogue (her Voice Actress) has been very highly praised for her voice acting as well, and I personally think she's one of the best VAs out there, although I don't say that very often since I feel like that's basically shameless self-promotion. She's marriageable, has a plethora of romance lines, a very realistic look that fits in well in Skyrim, and is devestating in ranged combat. Here, take a look: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/66160/?
  6. Give it up! This game is ever futile!
  7. Excellent! Aurlyn shall now carry a copy of the same in the next update. Thanks!
  8. Hi! I'm looking for two voice actors/ actressess to fill a couple of roles for an upcoming quest, Darkest Awakening, in my custom-voiced companion mod, Aurlyn Dawnstone, which can be found here: http://aurlyndawnstone.blogspot.com/ Closed, both positions filled. The first role is rather minor, and only spans a few lines. Here, you'll play the part of a Thalmor Commander, and must reflect appropriate haughtiness and hostility; gender and age are irrelevent. Since there's not enough lines for an audition, feel free to voice these lines in their entirety, and send them to me via PM/ e-mail. I would be most appreciative, and as always, full credit will be given. Here, take a look: (Started: Darkest Awakenings – Search Fort Raldur) (The pair travel to Fort Raldur, and fight through a garrison of Thalmor Soldiers and Wizards. After reaching the Commander's Quarters, they find a Thalmor Commander waiting for them there) Thalmor Commander: How dare you slaughter my soldiers and invade my fort! The Dominion will make you pay dearly for this injustice! Player: You attacked my companion first. Thalmor Commander: You have the audacity to hurl baseless accusations against me? One more word, and I'll have your head! Player: So this Dunmer agent we killed wasn't one of your men? Thalmor Commander: A Dunmer agent, you say? Certainly not! We have been hunting someone that fits your description of this man though. He's caused us great deal of trouble by impersonating a Thalmor Justicar, and questioning people from all around the province. Last I heard, he was holed up in some cave in Solstheim but the Thalmor will root him out soon enough. Now, get out of my fort and never return! The second role is rather delicate, and requires a light touch. Here, you shall step into the shoes of the Nerevarine, and evoke the wisdom of the ages, as well as the weight that all heroes must carry, yet also portray a Dunmer accent, as well as a sinister touch. This role requires a male voice, and ranges from minor, to huge depending on how much I feel like expanding on his character after Darkest Awakening is completed, and thus, you must be prepared to record upwards of 1,000 lines of dialogue as we go along, yet for now, he only has around 20 to 30 lines. This role is also quite pivotal, so I would prefer if this position was filled first. Here are the audition lines, feel free to record them and send them to me via PM/ e-mail. I would be eternally grateful, and would be more than happy to give you full credit for this. Here, take a look: Nerevarine: The second emissary returns, and takes their place beside the third. Welcome, Dragonborn. I am less than pleased to see your companion here, but I shall do my best to be a good host all the same. Now, I am sure you have a lot of questions. Ask away, and when we are done, perhaps you shall have a greater understanding of the situation at hand. Player: Why did you attack us? Nerevarine: I did not, as I am sure you already know. It was your companion here who made the first move, and set in chain a series of events that can never be undone. But perhaps they can be mitigated, to some extent. Player: What events? Nerevarine: Ahh... Yes. I'm getting ahead of myself, but know this: The three of us are here today, not by chance or choice, but by the hand of fate. Soon, each one of us will stand at the brink of the abyss with a pivotal role to play. One shall stand as Dusk, and preserve the melody that lulls all to endless sleep. The other shall stand as Dawn, and bring an end to Night. And the third? They are they grey maybe, and can both create and destroy. But you shall see that for yourself soon enough. Player: Does this prophecy mean that the world will soon come to an end? Nerevarine: This world is already lost. War sweeps across all of Tamriel, dragons roam the skies, burning all in their path and the towers are failing. Yet even now, there is a glimmer of hope. We can persevere, recreate and rebuild what was once lost. Player: How? Nerevarine: With help from beyond the veil. I... I am not from this realm, but I am now of it; shaped by my experiences here. Yet I can still bring a spark from the beyond, a single piece of knowledge that can be our only redemption. Player: It's you then! You seek to control what you never could understand. You are the one who will bring Dusk, and the fall of endless night! Nerevarine: You know not of what you speak, but yes; I will do what I believe is right. Alone, I could never use this power. The other one, your companion Aurlyn, she will help me achieve my goals. Now, I'm afraid I must leave you, for I still have a final task I must attend to. (The Nerevarine vanishes)

  10. Sourcing your info/ intellect from the masses, or self-proclaimed "experts" will likely lead to only the mods that cater to the lowest common deominator ever being suggested for anyone's mod list. The reputation system is biased, and suggests that some have more of a voice/ are inherently better or more knowledgeable than others. Finally, the entire site is redundant because the modding community has ever learned through trial and error; the absolute freedom to pick any mod that catches your fancy for your mod list, and only be constrained by your maximum plugin limit/ game stability. Few, if anyone has shaped their games solely on the word of another, which seems to be the entire purpose of your site. Also, I dislike you bringing up/ mentioning the mods I have made as part of this discussion, since this suggests that your mindset is irrevocably linked to how "valuable" someone is to the modding community when dealing with people. In fact, no clearer aspect of this could be reflected in your site. You ask if I'm excited to surrender yet another unrelenting symbol of creativity and free thinking to the will of the masses? My answer is a resounding "No."
  11. From what I can see, this new system overly complicates the experimentation and free nature of using/ making mods, puts excessive weight on public opinion, and encourages global uniformity to a massive degree. Perhaps some like having their decisions made by others, but not I. My voice is against Mod Picker.
  12. Aurlyn Dawnstone is my favorite follower mod, but my opinion is very heavily biased.
  13. Anordil was also kind enough to put together a video showcasing this update. Here, take a look:
  14. Aurlyn Dawnstone, the custom-voiced Aldmer Dawn Sorceress companion, has just been updated to version 2.0, and now contains a plethora of new features and dialogue! Here, take a look: http://aurlyndawnstone.blogspot.com/
  15. Cool. Glad to know it's being worked on. In the meantime, I'll use mirrors to compensate.
  16. Can't even download my own mod to make sure it went through intact. Really annoying, hope it's fixed soon.
  17. Give him a sandbox package in the Winterhold Tavern without moving his original spawn location. He should walk there by himself before you even arrive to test/ play.
  18. Hi! I'm tweaking some spells for one of my mods, and I was wondering how I would go about having runes randomly spawn near a paticular NPC while they are in combat, as a defensive measure, and de-spawn afterwards. Alternatively, having Auriel's solar flares strike random enemies during combat, while outside, during daytime and near the same NPC would achieve the same effect. As scripting is not my forte, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
