NMM Stuck on "Checking for New NMM Version"

I juuust had this problem. As Avelon mentioned, there was another pop-up window -under- the 'Checking for new version' window. However, this window had no start bar presence. The only way I could get to it was if I alt-tabbed to it. Turns out it was asking if I wanted to update NMM. Huh. -

Does anyone know any mods that give you the ability to silently kill sleeping NPCs in 1 shot?

It works... just change the value in the FalloutPrefs.ini file.
