That's beside the point, exchanging files that were originally created by Bethesda/Obsidian is illegal... If you have the DLC yourself you could simply extract the Darklight Cowl yourself and download the M1 helmets and follow the steps I took (which would take you less then a minute, adjusting the M1 aside, really) to re-create it. Heck, maybe you'll even do it right the first time and will be able to just post instructions for me to follow. Not trying to be difficult, but the law is the law, and the Nexus has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to file sharing period.

Hey guys, So I'm trying to make a personal mod that adds a new helmet to the NCR's leveled lists, which will be known as the NCR Darklight Helm, a combination of the Darklight Cowl from Old World Blues and an M1 Helmet model from Earind's WW2 M1 Helmets mod. Modification process pictured with images in spoiler box. Disregard the Darklight Cowl's missing texture in the GECK, it appears fine in-game. The issue I'm having with the mod is in that while the new helm appears as it should in the GECK when examining it from the mesh preview window, the M1 Helmet is nowhere to be seen when it's equipped on an NPC in the GECK for preview, or when equipped in-game by anyone. I'm not terribly familiar with the intricacies of NifSkope, but I was hoping that someone would be able to at least point me in the right direction to get this working in-game, because personally I really think that this would help in making the in-game NCR patrols and guardsmen look more intimidating. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Tell me your process, step-by-step, from the very start, maybe you're just messing up somewhere along the lines and I'll be able to point it out for you. Ok then, from clean Install. 1. I go to My Computer -> Local Disc (:C) -> Program Files -> Bethesta Softworks -> Fallout 3 -> Data -> sound -> fx -> mus [i'm pretty sure I had to create "sound" and onwards. 2. I place "mus_success.wav" in the folder. 3. I open the Fallout Mod Manager and invalidate my archive. 4. I run Fallout 3 and start a new game, escape vault, and level up. The sound that should play when the stats box pops up is nowhere to be heard. ...There should be no reason for it to not work, you're doing it right, and you're using the right file type... Hm, maybe the music file's volume is just really low? Try amplifying it a bit in audacity. And before you ask, yes, I am just grasping a straws here, but I can't see anything wrong with what you're doing, so I kind of have no choice... Hm, or, alternatively, try changing the .wav file so it's mono instead of stereo... Again, just grasping at straws here, otherwise I'm all out of ideas. ...Actually, try removing the ".wav" from the file's name, the game is probably misreading the file because of that.

I've got retail... Maybe a clean install will help, I'll try it. The standered level up music works, right? In fact, try using something else in place of the victory fanfare, it may just be the file you have. I tried changing it, but still nothing. I'm going to reinstall it and see if that helps. Yeah, that seems like the best course of action at this point. Let me know if that helps... Actually, if that doesn't help, then I'm not sure if I'll even be able to help you, well, good luck with that then.

You're sure it's a .wav file and not an .mp3 file? Because that part is really important. If it isn't a .wav file you can download Audacity (do a Google search), open the file using the program, and just export the file as a .wav directly into the MUS folder. Yes I am positive it is a .wav file, in fact I used Audacity for it. ...Hm, that's odd. What version of Fallout 3 are you runnning (Retail, Steam, etc.)? From what I understand the Steam version has issues when one tries to mod it.

I'm going to assume you're using Windows XP, if you aren't, then I can't help you. Okay, first and foremost, use the Fallout Mod Manager to invalidate your archive. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 There's a button right there on the main menu, just press it and you're done. Now on how to use the Cosmos Fanfare, First and foremost, ensure that it's a .wav file, otherwise it will NOT work, secondly, rename it to "mus_success", minus the quotes, again, it will not work unless you do this. Then, follow this file path; C:/ Program Files/ Bethesda Softworks/ Fallout 3/ Data/ Sound/ FX/ And place "mus_success" file inside the MUS folder, if you're missing any of the above folders, just make them yourself. I know that this is how it works because I've actually done the same thing as you, except I used the Chaos Fanfare. Enjoy.

I wouldn't mind a few crossbow mods either, namely because a crossbow seems a lot more likely to be used when someone is wearing full plate armour than a longbow, mostly because plate armour would, if my sources are correct, severely ristrict your movement, and thus make it somewhat difficut to properly utilize a longbow, especially in a combat situation. I tend to use heavier armour whenever I play through Dragon Age, just in case you hadn't determined that.

Invisible Smoke Effects/flame textures?
BakaSmurf replied to BakaSmurf's topic in Dragon Age: Origins's Mod Ideas
I had always assumed it was the leaves, myself, as the rest of the model doesn't exactly seem like it'd be overly taxing on CPU, not to mention that I found if one were to manuevour the camera in such a way that their leaves weren't visible, the fps sped up significantly. Maybe this kind modder that we're praying will come along will also make the Sylvan's leaves invisible? Here's to hoping. -
As the topic title states, I'm here to request a mod that makes smoke effects/flame textures invisible, which would hopefully, improve fps for those who run Dragon Age on a laptop like myself. Now, before anyone says anything, I have everything that can be switched off performance-wise off, I've even tried using low quality models and textures, but the game always slows to a crawl whenever smoke or anything that resembles smoke such as fog, enters my field of view, flames have this affect too, but it isn't nearly as profound as smoke. Now, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that suffers from this problem, and since I've seen mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3 which improve FPS via giving smoke/fog invisible textures, I was hoping the same could be done with Dragon Age. If it turns out it's actually impossible then I suppose I'll just have to suffer barely playable slow downs whenever I approach smoke/fog, but any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Also, please, don't be a smart-ass and tell me to just get a new graphics card, because you know what? Not everyone is as financially gifted as you are, and are forced to make do with what they have.
