Can anyone make a mod that allows you to craft a necklace from a dragon tooth? Maybe give a small chance a single tooth drops in the dragon treasure after a kill and you need a certain number of teeth to craft it. Ever since I watched Reign of Fire and McCounaghey had that tooth on a cord, I thought it would be nice to get one and drop your own enchantment on it.
I guess a whole necklace could even drop as part of the treasure, just give it a low value and it wont disturb the game balance.

The 50 limit max is another reason you DON"T use Steam. They know more then you about what you need, after all.
My suggestion is to unsubscribe everything from that Steamy Pile and lookup the mods you use here on Nexus and download them maually or via the manager. The only limit here is how beafy your system is and a little tweaking on some installs\updates. My bet is that anything worthwhile posted on Steamy Pile will be here.

This game is buggy, buggier and buggiest. It gets misguided up for no reasons whatsoever. The only thing I can say is restart if you don't have a save. You'll either come to lean on your saves or quit the game completely (or both after you 've finally had enough). You will have more broken quests and broke items that stick in your inventory then you can possibly believe.
I dont recommend advancing broken quests with the console as it has even more strange things that happen. Try to unload mods if you have any and see if it works. If not, join the rest of the people here who seem to think this is all worth our efforts to fix a game that was sold under the pretense of being whole, which its not.

Since the update on steam 2 days ago, My main quest no longer spawns after returning the dragon stone. He takes it and say to go see the Jarl, but the Jarl never leaves the map room. The only dialog is basic interaction ending with he's busy. I am able to get 1 quest from the steward but that still does not change the main quest.
I did a vanilla download with basic graphic mods only and still broken. I tried console commands to advance the quest and I don't even get an acknowledgement the quest was even started, mush less advance to the next stage. After 2 hours of downloading a game I should rightfully own on my DVD, I don't think i'll go through that again.
Does anyone have any idea what is happening? I have been running since day 1 and have tested a lot of mods saving data folder etc. It only happened since the Steam update.

When it completed the quest again, did it up your quest completed totals?

Soooooooo, that probably means all the mods we've used will error out the game once the new patch arrives. so another reload will probably bog the servers down even more.

the first 2 times through, I tended to go after everything. Power struggle to be the hero of legend. The last 3 times were for fun. I did 1 faction and statyed with it. The hardest by far, but the most enjoyable was my Bosmer. I used the storyline to make the choices I did to play her out. That being, she was captured doing nothing more then being across some line (or being close to it) on a map. She was sentanced to death for nothing and treated like a marked criminal.
Using that, I NEVER once entered a town or village. Everything i got was from finding it, stealing it or making it at remote craft stations. I opted to not murder anyone but did, of course defend myself. I got to level 42 and it became pretty unplayable. Since the strongholds I considered towns and the greybeards i opted to not do, it got difficult. Some of the ore locations had the glitch where the grahpic showed up, but the ore would not harvest. Since the drgaons never show up til the dragon stone is returned, I ended up consoling the quest up to spawn the dragons. All the items that became quest persistant in my inventory, i consoled away.
It makes the game very different and difficult from the vanilla play style. I did not do the main quest. There were few quests that can be done, but more then you might believe.
(oops, wrong topic. sorry)

My story would be of my first run through.
I achieved fame and all the acredidation thats associated with advancement to level 5. Using my newly honed "fine" steel axe, I went in search of the mythical "Giant's Toe" ingredient. Spotting the lumbering giant was easy as I followed the thundering footsteps south and west of Whiterun. I spied the huge biped for some time, watching and waiting for the opportunity to unleash my fury and wrath.
As nightfall took hold and shadows lengthened, I siezed the opportunity. Like lightning, I struck hard and fast. The number of near critical hits I bestowed on my quary was staggering. Relentless was my assault. Axe blow upon axe blow found its mark and cut. Cut deaply into the left side of the behemoth. Blood was everywhere. A dust cloud over took the battle, then all went quite. then dark, then cold.
At that point, the scripted scene took over as I realized that i barely scratched his boot lace. I watched the scene play out as his huge club swung down at me like a driver and me standing there as a golf ball waits on the tee. The next thing I saw was the ground below me and all the nice and wonderful things being lost in the fog and I spiralled towards the sky, out into space and I crashed to desktop.

Yesterday my game kept erroring out. On load it said it was not upgraded. I enabled the pasthrough on my firewall and watched it do its load through STEAMy pile. it still crashed to desktop. I reloaded it, vanilla style and started it up. several of my saves were corrupted (probably due to mods). After about 2 hours, I started noticing the NPC's spawning at night. Specifically in Whiterun. The forge at the main gate opened as did Belethor outside his shop.

I am no graphics programmer/designer but I do understand most of what is being said here. I love the game and most things in it. Thats not to say I don't think it could have been better. I know a lot of problems exist. Seams, pixelation, shadows, lighting, textures and a lot of redundancy in art work. I think the game took many good steps forward but at least as many in reverse. The game was never intended for PC's. Bethesda did PC gamers wrong by the level of depth we paid for and for the use or STEAMy pile. Its sad when part of the marketing strategy is to make the modders fix all your mistakes, and programmer inability.
With that all said and all it covers into consideration, I still love the game. Not for what we were handed from the box and from STEAMy pile, but for the incredible minds and ingenious/talented modders that keep games like this alive for years. There's a lot to work with in Skyrim. I think they left a lot of it open for DC. Running mods like the graphical advancements you made is very impressive. Other mods like wars and dragons are equally great. I do blame Bethesda for what they gave us, but I also credit Bethesda for what they created.
Like always, and with any really good game in the past 10 years, modders will be and are the fabric of a games longevity.

I have been running deadly dragons and wars. It makes walk travel really interesting. It is by far more deadly, but the same 4 types of critters that spawn get monotonous.

His wife runs the orphanage in Riften and his child is busy with the black sacrament.

Using Reign of Fire as a base line of what it could be like, It would be a pretty terrifying encounter. The speed of flight, scale armor plates and ammount of heat energy in the breath would be enough to thwart most attacks on it. OVer time, find its weakness, like the time between dawn and dusk (in the movie) and somehow use it against the beast. Who knows, if intelligent and Paarthenox like, it might not actually be a bad thing.

Did anyone cover or wonder if, when using the mod kit, can you elect to not use STEAMy pile as a launch platform? It may well be integrated into STEAMy pile like corn and peanuts.

I don't think the Dwemer did any sort of torturing that can be pointed to, with the exception of a few nasty traps. Everything they had was a technology advancement. The mechanical creations, the chests and trunks, the elevators, the steam/energy powered turbines, etc. Then you see a rack and shackles not even of dwarven metal. I find it hard to imagine not having some other means to administer pain and misery to the poor fool captured.
I personally don't like elves. I am happy, happy when (slightly used) elven equipment can purchase my next song at a drinking establishment.

Why would any woman want to marry or be with a man that has dragon breath  :P

When I loaded my "leased" game today, STEAMy pile crashed to desktop. I relaunched it and when Skyrim loaded, my mining no longer works. I can see all the veins, i get the prompt to activate, but nothing happens. I tried chopping at it, moving around it, TCL'd it and still nothing. I left the area, tried it in mines (previously unsearched by this present toon) and still nada.
Is anyone else having this issue or can shed any light into a fix, short of reloading? I do have the recolor ore mod loaded since it arrived in the mods section, but I never had an issue prior to today.

Hmmmm... Set to not auto-update and still.
Oh joy joy joy, my game is broke. Thanks for the patch!
.. and why exactly do people like steam?
-
Tsig, I understand. I was just trying to win a fight for just having fun and let the levels arrive as a surprise when they finally decide to show up. I do understand the monotony of starting out brand new each and every time.

This is funny and makes me laugh. I can see gretzky99 clicking away, red eyed and juiced up on monsters, espresso's and red bulls. Timing bathroom breaks, texting, and tweat updates between chops.
The whole time (originally thinking then ultimately incoherently babling to themself) "Only 1 more then i'll stop. Just 1 more.. 1 more" :teehee:

As incredible as the game is, you cannot possibly say "community" and mean that all encompassing. The concern for PC users is tripe at best. We are give second hand, 8 year old graphics ported hap hazardly from a truely console created game. The controls, the lighting, the graphic depth, resolution, etc, etc, etc. Any PC user can tell you 'til an argonian drowns, we were and are second class citizens to Bethesda and treated like it. Had it not been for our wonderfully talented modders, this game would have been left for dead on anything but the console. Using Steam... well, all I can say is that any freshly laid pile of excrement will exude steam on a cold skyrim morn.

I like Barbas. I do use the no barking and keep your distance mods.
What's better for travelling the roads and ways of the vastness, of the northern lands, then a moderately cute K-9. He never leaves you, you don't need to equip anything, and he can't die. He's a dog. What's not to like?

Whats the point in walking around behind the Greybeards to level up? You may as well console it up, if thats your goal. Just sneak walk in dungeons and ruins. Each successful attack or action raises your skill small small degree.
As for armor, you can find a lone wolf and let it pounce on you all day while you heal, console it up - OR- you can play the game, trying to NOT get hit and let it go up naturally.
there's no point in powering your perks. If playing the lowly denizen of the Skyrim province is not your thing, then console it to the point you think you need to to be able to play the game where you enjoy it.
I personally wish you could lock it down at a certain point. That stats raise way to fast for my liking as it is.
