i was under the impression health and magicka restored themselves while out of combat regardless. that it was a different command for that. -

Seriously!! Wuthering Heights was uber depressing... you aren't getting it mixed up with Gone With The Wind by any chance? I can understand that not being depressing enough for some people..... wow, I'd like to play whatever you write just to see how torn up I get. I'm into tragic characters but it'll be interesting to have a tragic story line. F. Scott Fitzgerald. “Show me a hero, and I'll write you a tragedy.” Not to put a damper on tragedy and all, but I hate tragic romance. Guess I'm just a "disney" kind of girl. And judging from all the people who went wiggy with one of the, erm, "interesting" happenings in a romance in Dragon Age, I'd guess that I'm not alone. If there's to be a tragic romance, I'd like there to be others as well so I can avoid the one that crashes and burns. Now, *angsty* romance is another story. A bit of drama keeps it interesting. I do intend on writing 1 or 2 atleast with tragedy if permitted but i doubt that will be the main stay of this, and obviously even those that i want to add that aspect to will have a happy turn of events unless you make a stupid decision during dialog or w/e plot lines are developing the characters. The main idea imo that i had, is that if you make the wrong choices you end up with a sad feeling because what you expected the outcome to be is not what you got. -

I'm into tragic characters but it'll be interesting to have a tragic story line. F. Scott Fitzgerald. “Show me a hero, and I'll write you a tragedy.” Nope i mean wuthering heights 100% I generally pull off Eroge's, Which are basically a story with multiple choices that ultimetely effect the outcome of the story. Most are perverted too, but there are some good ones. And basically a happy ending in one of those is something along the lines of you die to save your loved one who pleads and begs for you not to. Or your loved one dies despite all your efforts, after words you find a note or recording about how much they are scared of dying and wish you would have just held them close rather then w/e you did. Or the best one by far, Hailing from the depths of whichever twisted mind came up with Saya no uta. She dies to make the rest of the world like her, since she is the only thing you can see that is beautiful. The biggest draw imo though is that they focus on pulling you in to the story allot better then anything else imo. At the end of kana for instance i literally went outside to smoke. came back in, sat on the couch for two hours just going... wtf... Cause god damn did that ending hit me hard. Also will be posting a few more idea's when i wake up enough to coherently think and fix a few issues. Edit: that also brings up another issue, how are we going to effect the mood of the reader, while going through dialog. The easiest way to do that is through music. For instance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T22g1mwdfLs The mood of this song and others like it Totally made Saya no Uta what it was. and is the reason i will always read eroge's and find them much better then actual novels, even while i do enjoy a good novel. Edit 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkvQte7JWpw even sadder song from ever 17 :( -

It should prolly be noted before i post more idea's in this thread and possibly work on some of the dialog and stories presented that i am a sucker for sad romances. To put it in perspective, i though wuthering heights ended on too happy of a note :O -

So here is a list of current idea's i have come up with including some possibilities for, er sad endings. Scenario one: While on your adventures you run into a randomly scripted ai that states his son/daughter has gone after a group of outlaws who stole a family heirloom, you choose to follow the man to help in what way you can. He leads you to a dungeon. Preferably manually added or one which does not interfere with any quest lines. Upon entering the dungeon, You find the girl not too far in stalking out a bandit. as you sneak up behind her she notices you and jumps startled alerting the bandit. You then kill the bandit with her help. Upon bandit's death the dialog starts ultimately bringing you to one of a few options. "We will get your family heirloom back together." "Stay here while i get it." "Just forget about it, it's too dangerous." Possibly more, like trying to buy the heirloom back from the bandits or other options. Depending on what you chose the story line progresses more to be worked on at a later time. Scenario Two: While in a town you over hear a conversation of how a sickly man is trying to find someone to escort his daughter/son to Solitude to see the city of her birth one last time as he is no longer fit to travel with and protect him/her. You go to the location you hear them speak about and talk to the old man. He says that he is willing to pay well to give his daughter/son the possibly last gift he can in his life. Upon accepting the quest you begin your travels (fast travel possibly disabled if possible.) during which she berrates your aggressive demeanor and wants no part in the slaughter of any man or animal you come across. Presenting the challenge of trying to appease to him/her by not killing anything. As you approach the city, she will want to rest at dragon bridge or possibly somwhere else. During your stay at the inn she/he tells you more about her/his father and about her time in solitude and what she/he remembers. Depending on the outcome of the choices made during the conversation upon your arrival to solitude she/he will either take off, or not want to leave your side. Another possible outcome may be the news of her fathers untimely death ultimately meaning she/he would rather return to her father leaving you the choice of demanding you finish the journey or taking him/her back. I feel this story line offers many opportunities for failure, and elements outside the norm of skyrim, while remaining lore friendly. Those are the two most developed idea's that i have. and there are more i have fiddled with. -

So here is i think the major issue with the marriage and romance system currently implemented by Bethesda in Skyrim. There is no connection to the actual NPC's in question who are marriageable. The most interaction you get with them is a few systematic dialog's that never change, and in most cases a quest to find some lost item or help them in some way. then suddenly they are in love with you. Where is the story in that, the chance to actually feel connected to a NPC. The best Romance stories follow the same outline as any story, they start off slow building up the story and getting you intrigued by the characters themselves, eventually reaching the climax in which there is some sort of struggle, or truth spoken that wasn't known before. But the most crucial element in almost any romance is that the ending leaves you wanting more. There is no great romance novel, eroge, game or any other form of literature that leaves you with a rock solid ending. I think that is going to be the biggest problem to over come, Since the game is scripted in to be never ending, once you have finally gotten that connection and gotten drawn in and ultimately married the NPC of your choice, then what? This becomes and issue in more then one way for instance, You could say that something should be used a long the lines of scripted in events happening in which something like them being held hostage. But after a while this just becomes another side quest, and more then that, one which could be considered an annoyance as it is stopping you from completing other quests. At the same time, if once the marriage is set and the story line has finished it's progression if nothing happens you soon loose interest because there is nothing there appealing that draws you in. At the same time you have the issue with the actual draw of the NPC in question. The major flaw as a mentioned above in my opinion, is you never actually speak with, or spend time with any of the NPC's in question save one or two, as the majority of them are just complete a quest for me and the marriage question can be asked. otherwise the NPC has no real use. Just my two cents on what is going to be hardest to tackle. That and ofcourse scripting in all the events that allow this to work as with any hope i would assume would be easily 10+ NPC's available to cater to hours of gameplay and romance for enthusiasts like me. EDIT: i should also mention that this should be kept as lore friendly as possible imo, and that in itself creates challenges as a doubt there are many who actually know the entire lore that is able to be known about the TES games in general. -
alright :) PM sent, i hope we can figure this out :D

Lol well if that is the only way then i'll let you guys know in the near future. Just need to let the people who i am currently planning on doing mod work with that i will be doing so. which would prolly be for the best since even the email on this account is like 10 years old and was hacked many decades ago haha. Should i just send you a pm, or repost here?

Hello, i hope i posted this in the right section. I made this account a while back when i used a different alias. I since then have change my alias to something more permanent (weather i like it or not x.x which fortunately i do :D) and am known under the new alias. I am wondering if it is possible to request a forum name change, so that i can be viewed under my new alias, rather then this old random name from my childhood haha.

This does indeed sound like an interesting idea, i have always lurked the modding forums since morrowind, but never actively wanted to get involved so hell, why not start here. I have no modding experience with TES games though allot in source so i'm sure once the creation kit comes out and i start tinkering i will figure it out fast enough. Though mainly i am interested in writing. I have been writing for a long time, though never had any formal education and would love to be given a shot at this atleast assuming TESCK turns out to be more complicated then i thought and i can't handle it xD I am willing to put time in, though i do spend time playing and streaming competitively and thus may not be able to constantly work on it since with work that ties up allot of time. but most weekends and usually week nights i have pretty open.
