  1. Have you tried bben46's suggestion of reverting to vanilla and testing the game for the crash yet? If you can post your load order it will make things much easier to provide help (assuming its mod related). You can do so by launching Wrye Bash and right-click the "File" header in the "Mod" tab. Then select "List Mods" and copy the new window and paste it here. If you don't have Wrye Bash, you can get it here - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 Download and install "Wrye Python 03" and then download and install "Wrye Bash 275 - Self Installer". Edit: Sorry, that link doesn't have the latest installer for Wrye Bash, use the Wrye Python from that link and then use this link for Wrye Bash - http://sourceforge.net/projects/oblivionworks/files/
  2. Place all of the BOSS files in the Data folder (Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data). Run the .bat file and it will sort the load order.
  3. Glad that you resolved the issue. Usually a clean install (removing ALL data from the game) will fix issues like you had. One file with the slightest corruption can hose the entire game.
  4. For PC there are only preset speeds. These are Walk, Run and Sneak. The only way to really achieve the joystick effect on PS3 would be to use an actual joystick and have software support to adjust the speed based on the tilt of the joystick.
  5. To clarify, you have tried running without mods running and you still have this issue? Reinstalling clean (completely removed the oblivion folder in Bethesda Softworks folder) didn't help anything (meaning you tried before reinstalling mods)? If a clean install did work then it might just be a load order. Using BOSS should correct any load order issues but it can't hurt to post your load order here and a more experienced modder can assist in identifying possible conflicts.
  6. Other than selecting the path to install the game there isn't anything that you really have control over so I highly doubt that you forgot something. A general rule of thumb is to close all unnecessary programs before installing software. Generally things like anti-virus are ok to keep running but you shouldn't have internet browsers and folders/etc open during this time as they can slow down the system and cause corrupt files during installations.
  7. I'm still new to modding myself so this may not be helpful, but using Wrye Bash and creating a Bashed Patch has the tendency to correct some mod conflicts. I've not used Better Cities, so I don't have much knowledge on it. My guess is that Better Cities and another mod are trying to use the same terrain and are causing a crash. It would help to check if any other mods you are using make changes to the areas adjusted by Better Cities.
  8. First off, I would expect forum rules to not allow comments of "cracks" or other concepts used in the piracy of software (not that your intention was this, but still an issue on most forums). Second, a program like PowerISO would allow you to mount a virtual drive and store the CD's contents in it to boot without a CD, if your looking for a legit way to do so. The official Oblivion patches can be found here: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm Be Sure to get the most recent Shivering Isles (if using the expansion) and the most recent Oblivion patch. Note: If you run the patch installer and it gives an error saying something like "A file of this name was found but is not the file needed" then this means that you already have the latest patch (assuming the installer was the latest patch). Did you use the crack before attempting to boot with a CD? Also, when do you get the error? During gameplay or a specific loading menu?
  9. Some mods tend to overwrite existing data for Vanilla (unmodded game). I would first recommend a clean install (you will have to delete any left-over mod data manually) and test the issue without any mods installed. Give use an update on if this fixes the issue or not. If a clean install works, you may want to consider using OBMM to install your mods (I'm assuming your dragging and dropping files into the Data folder?).
  10. Hmm, I'm also using Windows 7 (64 bit) and GOTY. I didn't have any issues using disk 2 after disk 1 finished. Have you tried reinstalling disk 1? Edit: Considering you have a dialog crash and can't install SI, this makes me skeptical of a bad install.
  11. If you are using mods, please post your load order. If not then it may be helpful to post your dxdiag log.
  12. Yes I'm using Darnified UI , I selected the options for Darnified UI during the OMOD setup for Advanced Alchemy.
  13. I'm having an issue with Advanced Alchemy when I click on an alchemy apparatus to enter the crafting menu. I immediately get a CTD. I've checked my OBSE version and its current. Load order sorted with BOSS. The most annoying factor is that if I turn off the mod and deactivate it with OBMM, when I enter the crafting menu, most of the menu is transparent. Kinda regretting that i tried this mod :P Other than this and random crashing I'm finally running very solid with all my mods! Edit: I think "56 RshAlchemy.esp" is the .esp for the mod. I'm using the OMOD download so I dont think i can view the contents (unless editing the OMOD shows the files inside it).
  14. Pretty easy to figure out the tag. I've never bothered with forum menus before. Anyway, there is my load order. Edit: Just bought Amulet and Tail versions of a cape. The Tail displays fine but the Amulet doesn't (unless naked).
  15. Actually yeah I do, I'm not sure which one does it however cause I didn't select the option myself. I'll post my load order for help identifying which one. Just need to figure out how to make a spoiler tag someday so I don't spam threads with a load order all the time :P The interesting thing is that even if it is due to specified armor not allowing it to be shown...I've been wearing a robe :P I can't see why a robe would block it, unless its not the amulet slot. I'll go in game and see what unequips when I try to equip one.
  16. Keep in mind that you can use the actual zip files with OBMM. To do so you open OBMM and click "create". Name it however you see fit (recommended to name it after the mod contained in the zip file). Then click "Add Archive" and locate the zip file with the mod in it. Depending on how big the file is, this could take a few minutes to process. You will see, in the window below the "Add Archive" button, the .esp/.esm and texture/meshes/sounds/etc in the zip file when it is finished. Click "Create OMOD" on the bottom right and let it convert the data to OMOD. Then all you have to do is select the OMOD you created and click Activate. Please note that some mods have optional files and you can do the above by opening the folder containing the zip file, right click the file and select "extract here". Select all files that you want to include in the mod and then, while all files are selected, right click any of the selected files and mouse-over 7zip (or whatever zip program your using) and select "Add To XXXX.7z". XXXX is the file name, and .7z is the file type for 7zip (.zip or .rar are associated with winzip and winrar respectively). I recommend this process because OBMM, although it takes time to prepare, keeps modding relatively clean and easy to add/remove mods without accidentally removing files that you need to keep for other mods or the core game.
  17. Are you positive its due to Deadly Reflex? I've seen issues with MMM's factions that cause NPCs to stand still or try to run through obstacles due to an enemy faction being on the other side of the obstacle. When either of these things happen the AI completely ignores my presence, even if I engage combat with the NPC. I don't know of a fix, unfortunately.
  18. What is the typical cause for a mod to display textures for an object on NPCs but not on PCs? For instance, I'm running Hemingway's Capes and they appear on vendors and are equipped on NPCs (and display properly) but when I equip a cape from this mod, the item equips but does not display on the character. I've already had the load order examined and approved on another thread, so I know its not the issue. Would this be caused by a missing .esp or a bug in the code?
  19. I've noticed that there are several hotkey mods on the nexus and wanted to ask the forum community for input on their favorite one. If you don't mind, list the name of the mod you like and its key features that make it unique. If possible, I'd like to find one that lets me use alt/shift/ctrl + 1-0 bindings so that I can easily layout spells in types for each function key. Thanks for any recommendations! P.S. I'm not ignoring the "search and look around yourself" method. I'm doing that, but I'd like input from other people that have used the mods already.
  20. I'm about 4/10 the way to my next level. As for the saves. I don't have one that rollsback that far. I guess i should always have a semi-old save for in case something like this happens. I may make a new char and play through the main quest and see if it happens on that game also. Edit: Are there any programs for Oblivion that trace the root of a crash and provide a log of it? Might help in finding this issue.
  21. Hmm, well I did all of the file tweaks suggested earlier in this thread and reset the area. Either another bad spawn is there or its something related to the quest itself. I've also noticed that I'm crashing frequently (wasn't an issue before) when resting and seem to be getting lag while resting also (random 2 second hangups that are probably the source of the crashes while resting).
  22. This section of the forum is for tech support. If you would like to make a mod request/suggestion, there is a section appropriate for that (will get the most attention towards this post). File Requests/Suggestions http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showforum=266
  23. Thanks for the alternate link. I'm not sure what is up with the nexus one. It loads a page that says "File does not exist" for me. I'm using firefox on Windows 7 x64 (unstable from what I've read). That may be the issue but nevertheless. Download is finishing . Thanks for being so loyal to everyone Tomlong54210. Greatly appreciated!
  24. Hmm, the link provided on that page isn't working. Looking for an alternate.
  25. Depending on your OS, go into Computer/My Computer and find the Documents folder, inside will be a My Games folder containing a folder titled Oblivion. That contains all of your save files.
