  1. are you definitely launching steam first before F4SE, the reason i ask is because if steam is not loaded, and you attempt to launch fallout via F4SE this will cause steam to load and as such start the fallout 4 launcher.

however that will only be a 1 time deal, until the computer is reset.

also is the F4SE desktop launcher, the actual F4SE launcher or is it a shortcut to F4SE ?

if its a shortcut, then the target for the shortcut might be pointing to the steam launcher, which would then mean every time you load the F4SE shortcut, it will launch steam instead (if this is the case its a simple fix)

Steam is always active (I even closed it and re-opened)

I've checked the F4SE (shortcut) target; and it is targeting the F4SE launcher in the correct Fallout 4 folder. I even re-installed F4SE, just in case it got broken somehow.

    It's definitely a head-scratcher.

  2. Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, as I've not been active on the Nexus for quite awhile (so I'll apologise in advance) - It's good to see some of the folks from "earlier in my time" still knocking around.

F4SE is no longer working for me when attempting to launch Fallout 4 - regardless of whether I attempt to launch it through Nexus Mod Manager (with F4SE option) or the F4SE desktop launcher. The result is the same -- It will keep reverting to the Steam launcher that gives the options when you first start it up.

    Fallout 4 Version: 1.10.106

    F4SE version: 0.6.1

    Active Plugins: 184

I haven't found anything in an extensive search to see if anybody else is experiencing the issue. I'm hoping that I can find answers here?

This issue does not appear to be anything mod-related as I`ve not actually installed any mods and it worked perfectly fine before.

    Thanks :)

  3. In terms of expenditure - You're more likely to spend more money on the console in the long term because all new games that come out, cost the same ($60)

PC is cheaper in that regard due to Steam -- But it's really dependent on who published the title. A high spec. build for a PC can outlast 2 console generations. I say the word "Build" as it implies that you build your own system. None of this retail garbage like AlienWare - which is only famous for it's name and the price is massively over-inflated.

EDIT: I have only ever been tempted to buy a console because of a game. But my better judgement convinced me otherwise. I have not used a console for about 9 years.

  4. I think very little can be done to "defuse" America.

Trump is completely unhinged. Everything he suggests is completely ridiculous and irresponsible. I personally can't see him lasting a full term in office.

As a resident of the UK - I followed the Presidential elections; simply because I find it way more interesting than ours. Although, his entertaining shake on US politics, I detest him. Purely based on his policies, bigotry (amongst other things)

  5. I don't think I've got much of a favourite to be honest.

The ones I've played most though are:

    Skyrim

    Fallout 3 / New Vegas / Fallout 4

    Dragon Age

Mass Effect (entire series, including Andromeda)

    Grand Theft Auto 5

    Battlefield 3 / 4

    Ark Survival Evolved

  6. EA... Bandwagoning again.

Selling half a product or less. How is the content from DS3 not intrusive? Here are some examples: Buy Resources for real money (£2.99), and you don't get many.. But you can redeem them from "Ration Packs" which are collected by Scavenger Bots.

    - Bot Voice Pack about £3.99

    - Bot Capacity Upgrade (Returns Twice as many resources) - Pay to cheat essentially (£4.99)

    - Bot increased speed (Returns to you in half the time) (£4.99)

    - Tau Volantis Survival Pack (£11.99)

All of this which is in the game, you pay to unlock

Now the DLC which came out for £7.99 or $10 which is the Epilogue of Dead Space 3 offered 45 MINUTES of additional play on Hard Mode. An absolute disgrace.. Ubi-Soft are no better.

  7. That soundtrack <3

Ever since this was announced.. This has been the *ONLY* game I have looked forward to for a loooong time. Ghengis Khan and the Mongels on a campaign mission to take down the Great Wall of China.. It would remind people of South Park ;)

  8. A few questions:

    - Did you download them with the Nexus Mod Manager or Manual?

    - If with Mod Manager: Go to the Mods tab, and activate them there.

    - If you downloaded Manually. Move the Textures, ESP, and Meshes INSIDE the Data Folder (This includes the data.bsa files)

I'm guessing these points up here you did either one or the other and got it right..

    - Do you have Skyrim Script Extender?

If not - Then skse.silverlock.org - install using the instructions

If those fail to work; try a new game (Skipping the Intro at the bare minimum, to just after the character creation screen) - If that fails, it could be your copy of Skyrim

  9. Try picking a server closer to you.

    - The gateway times out not only for free, but Premium users aswell - only occasionally happens to me.

    - Download speeds were good for me, prior to being Premium

You are under absolutely no obligation to ever get Premium, you can still use the services they're just slower. That's like saying "Why should we pay for something, and get exactly the same as the free guy?" Same principal if you look at it from other sides.

Besides.. if you paid say $40 i think thats what the price was.. It lasts a Life Time assuming you don't start being a moron.

You have been here for almost as long as me.. Perhaps not as active (I've not been particularly active really, as I'm on and off with Bethesda games like a light switch) - But you do realise that the investment from the people paying for premium, is a one off payment (If you get the Lifetime one; i believe is like $40) and it is used to increase server capacity, speeds etc?

Not being funny.. But that sounds like you are the "want everything for nothing" type :\

  10. It seems that some of the most active members of this community actually don't like Skyrim much at all.

Maybe you're here for the mods, but I mean, if vanilla Skyrim is so sub-par, why bother polishing what is, apparently, a turd?

What's more, it seems lots of people think Bethesda is actively out to get their audience. Now, that's just silly. Skyrim could only have been created in a spirit of sincerity, and maybe their eyes were bigger than their mouth, but that's what fuels progress... maybe not now, but someday. That's why there are bugs; it doesn't mean that anyone was actively cutting corners. Sometimes certain bits and pieces just don't come together, no matter how good your intentions are, but it's those little nuances that people seem to tear into, and they can't find a reason no matter how much they rant and rave... because that's just a simple fact of human creativity. Sometimes it doesn't come together, but maybe something... just one thing... is groundbreaking and valuable. For me, with Skyrim, it's the experience.

I don't think Todd Howard was slouching in his chair eating cheetos with dollar signs in his eyes... and note, I don't say that because I care about Bethesda, or because I know anything about Todd Howard, because I don't. I say that because of one thing, and one thing alone: there are much easier ways to make money. Ways which make much more money, and take much less time.

So, sometimes you just don't like something. That's OK. It feels good to let go of something you just don't like, and it really feels pretty miserable to hang on just so your voice can be heard, in hopes that maybe the next one will be better, or somebody will "fix it..." I mean, I don't wanna get into the whole Mass Effect 3 thing, but that whole mess was a crushing blow to the general "videogames as art" prerogative, because it said that the audience simply isn't ready for games to simply be whatever they are... which is one of the most basic components of art, good or bad.

Anyway, I'll let this descend into mayhem in 3... 2... go!

A quick answer to your question in the subject line.. No, it's not a Skyrim board.. Skyrim is a component of the board.

I am going to go down your points one by one:

    - Polishing something generally makes it look better. Take a mirror for example which can gather a bit of dust over time, or a TV, or a shiny precious.

I don't think Skyrim was better than Oblivion. Yes, they certainly improved on many aspects of it. Such as the voice acting using 70+ instead of like 12. I haven't seen such massive immersion breaker such as an NPC buying some goods from a shop owned by themselves.

The level of detail wasn't brilliant for Skyrim, certainly better than a lot of games that came out that year.. But not massively great.

Certain pieces of the game not coming together - Isn't this the same with EVERY game? Especially when the game is a massively open world like Skyrim. It's fine to criticise the things that don't come together.. But the only games you see now are massively scripted, or corridor shooters.. Call of Duty, Crysis 2 are prime examples of these with not-so-great story lines.

Skyrim should have had more of the "Follow this path to make this path angry" like in Fallout New Vegas. Skyrim did a little of this with the Imperial Legion, but it was just the same quest just on a different point of view, so realistically.. no changes other than the colour your fight in. The only difference to the ENTIRE quest line was the initiation quest Kill an Ice Wraith or Clear out Bandit Camp, Attack or Defend Whiterun, Attack Solitude or Windhelm.

Not much variety really, and they were more than capable of doing that. I think they were just running out of time to be honest.

  11. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

As for the use of Music for a 17 Year old game.. It's still copyrighted regardless. IF you want to use it for your game (assuming you own it) - Feel free, but you won't be able to distribute it on here with the Resident Evil sounds.

I would advise against putting it on here; but I suppose this one is up to the Admins whether its within the T&C's of here.

  12. Hi all.

I've been going nuts recently finding good retextures for my armor sets.. Now I've just about finished doing that, I am now looking for weapons.

I just think the vanilla version of the Skyrim weaponry lack a lot of creativity. At least when you compare it to Morrowind and Oblivion, and I honestly think that Bethesda cut a lot of corners in regards to how weapons look.

Iron and Steel are slightly different in shades in terms of texture and colour. The only real changes start to happen with the Elven, Glass, Ebony and Daedric. The Elven stuff isn't as good as it was in Oblivion (Certainly not as Shiny) Dwarvern was just as boring design, but slightly shinier.

Ebony was a definite downgrade from it's predecessors and lacked a bit of creativity (Including missing the golden textures on the weapons (I'm sorting ebony out)

Daedric.. Well.. This design has fluctuated heavily between games and is probably the best designed out of all of the weapons in the game; but the texture quality isn't what I had expected.

    Now my request:-

Does anybody know of any weapon mods at all, which are high quality replacer and/or retexture of the vanilla weapons? I have seen a lot of outstanding armor replacers but nothing in regards to weapons (even externally off this site)

If anybody can post any suggestions of "Hi-Rez" weapon retextures or replacers.. I'd be greatly appreciated (Rest assured I will look at them all) :)

  13. If I were you, don't actually buy a PC from a retailer.

Buy the parts - as it would drastically cut the price down (easily to £600). Your budget is £1000, I reckon you could build a decent one (Which plays everything on ultra graphic settings)

As for selling the Xbox 360..

Plus, I'm giving away my harddrive containing the Skyrim latest DLCs, Minecraft and a downloaded GTA IV game and tons of other DLC.

Leaving your Xbox Live gold account on there - For one is a bad idea because people will have access to your e-mail address, or even your credit card details and make a tonne of payments to buy MS Points.

This would be an extremely bad idea from a security point of view and i think it is against the T&C's as you'll be "giving away" stuff and nothing returns to the publisher. If you're going to sell it.. Go ahead, but for the love of god don't leave your account on there aswell. If the downloads you have made on that hard drive are still there, the content is still accessible by anyone.

If you want to know my build.. Feel free to PM me and i'll give it to you. My computer hasn't had any trouble running anything on Ultra settings.

  14. one of my italiano friend showed me a sale of it on gamestop. It was marked for the 18 january.

18th January is a Friday.. So it makes sense really. Which is utter pants because i'm going out or working a double shift... Either way, i won't be playing it :(

  15. I've been checking on my Steam App while i've been at work, and coming home thinking "Has it released yet?" only to be disappointed when I see 7-7 on the page lol..

Wouldn't surprise me if many boycott the DLC. I won't because I want something that works.

  16. All games have had "ants in their pants" since the very beginning.

I've not had a problem with quests really apart from when I installed a lot of mods which require SKSE.

Try the Unofficial Skyrim patch (if that's around)

You may have to hit the Greybeards with a FUS RO DAH or try a Placeatme console command to see if that fixes it?

  17.

Actually, the few articles I read on it mentioned an 'exclusivity window' agreement, so I'm guessing they got the 360 version done first and have been working on porting it to PC and PS3 since then.

I'm aware of the "Exclusivity Window" agreement. The game is ported to Console's from PC The Creation Kit has some parts in a number of scripts that activate achievements (XB360) or Trophies (PS3)

This is one of the biggest things plaguing gaming these days. It's always better to port down, than to port up. What the heck happened to Quality over Quantity eh? :\

  18. Possibly because the game is launched through Steam so it isn't required? Or the version of the Launcher is compatible with both 32 and 64bit windows?

That's just what I'm thinking; so could be completely wrong about that. I don't really care as long as it works :)

  19. It's my understanding that they won't be releasing it for the PC until they can get the PS3 version working as they're desperate not to expose console players to the fact that you are WAY better off playing the game on PC

They are more likely to make money from console users though thats why.

I'd see no reason why Xbox 360 would tolerate garbage (then again.. This is Microsoft's money grubbing). I hear from numerous sources that this is their cleanest product to date.. Thus no reason to hold it any longer. At least for PC.
