  1. @zoyberg

I have just looked at my plugins.txt file (for the first time, as I don't have any of these problems) and although I have both .esp & .esm files NONE of them is Skyrim.esm.

It exists in loadorder.txt but not plugins.txt. and again for emphasis I have NO LOCKUPS or wierd behavior. I regularly activate/de-activate mods with NMM v0.18.9 btw.

  2. Have a look at the pic.

Double click on the lower list item(1), this is the body model.

Then click on the select button (2), note: I clicked on the male version, there is another select button further down for the female version.

In the list this brings up you can see listed the alternate texture set (3) double click to clear/replace it.

If replacing stuff you also have to do the same thing with the world model using the edit button (4)

The texture sets are defined under the Miscellaneous section of the object window in the CK.

  3. :snip:

It's real simple. I don't need a bunch of extra junk features that don't add to my game experience. There may not be a spell creating system in Skyrim, but I can use most of those same effects with enchanting.

Seriously. The game wasn't ready for the 11/11/11 release, and you guys wanted them to add more stuff?

What you consider "a bunch of extra junk features" some of us actually enjoyed. Similarly there are things in Skyrim that I don't use/play, for example I haven't nor will ever play through the DB questline, but that doesn't mean that I think it should be stripped from the game.

  4. I'm sure that the 1st way worked a few patches back.

And the creation kit wiki article on additem says: akItemToAdd: [...] If a form list, then it will add aiCount of each item in the list.

    Also from the wiki

As of 6/5/2012, it appears that the latest beta patch (1.6) no longer allows for the AddItem method to add an object or objectreference of Form 'Container' to the player's inventory.

  5. You can't simply move the directory (you'll end up with thousands or orphaned registry entries). Although there are utilities available on the net to facilitate this (including the appropriate registry updates) I haven't personally use any of them.

As Skyrim must be in a sub-directory of Steam then you would have to un-install ALL steam games, un-install Steam, Re-install Steam (outside of the \Program Files\ directory structure) and finally re-install your Steam game(s).

  6. Click on the version no. to open your browser to the Nexus page for the mod and download. Same as you did originally.

Once downloaded, de-activate the old version and activate the new one.

I would advise keeping the old version(still de-activated) until you are happy that the new version does not introduce any new problems.

  7. Back in early November when I first got the game (having played thru previous Beth games) I created a manual save game having just got out out of Helgen. I had no mods at the time, so I generally load that game and type "ShowRaceMenu" into the console, when I want to create a new character :D
  8. :snip:

Also, what could I do to get the plugins to stay activated permanently and open up the DATA box in skyrim launcher?

    :snip:

Next time you un-install, re-install outsode of the \Program Files directory (this will mean un-installing Steam. Don't install anything in \Program Files\ EVER it just causes too many problems with Windows UAC (mainly, I think, because the games devs havent got their heads around it).

  9. A couple other things that I miss....

    -two rings

-separate armor pieces (leg and shoulder slots)

I guess they didn't want to make it too easy to overpower a character with enchanting or whatever but I miss the armor slots more than anything else (well those and the spells they dropped).

That all? I still miss the ability to simultaneously equip the following:-

Boots(pair), Greaves, Cuirass, Left Pauldron, Right Pauldron, Left Gauntlet/Bracer, Right Gauntlet/Bracer, Helmet, Shield, Weapon, 2 Rings, 1 Amulet, Trousers(pants), Skirt, Shirt, Robe. All enchanted.

    Not to mention

Third style of enchantment Cast on Use (in addition to Cast on Strike & Constant Effect present in TES3, 4 & 5)

Flight (or more specifically levitation, anyone else remember the "Travel Stained Pants").

Teleportation, i.e. Mark, Recall, Almsivi Intervention, Divine Intervention.

Guilds that had proper level progression and required certain skills at certain levels.

And a proper journal so we could actually turn off quest markers and still play the game.

Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a rant, as I actually DO enjoy playing Skyrim, it just could have been so much better.

  10. The fact that the terrain LOD exists permanently just below the main heightmap is the reason that you can't lower terrain EVER. This has been a "feature" since the days of TES4-Oblivion and was the same in Fallout3 & New Vegas as well.

The only posible fix would be to re-generate the LOD, which is not practical as it's :-

    a) Broken in Skyrim (as it pertains to the main worldspace anyway)

    b) Is a very complicated subject that requires a tutorial

    c) Even if not broken it would take a very, VERY long time to generate (weeks not hours).

BTW, it looks like you have used too many textures in one of the cells, I believe that you can only, reliably, use 6 textures per quad.

  11. I don't use Steam myself, But I'll try.

The Creation Kit does not support drag and drop.

You have to open your mod by selecting the little folder icon in the top left corner (1) then selecting your mod from the list(2).

Make sure you press "Set as Active File" (3), and Finally "OK"(4). Wait for it to load.

This is where I start guesing. Then you "Should" be able to select "Upload Plugin and Archive to Steam"

  12. There's still something up with the portal between the sloping corridor and the large room, because you can drag it away from the roombounds completely (you shouldn't be able to, the others seem OK).

I would suggest deleting that particular portal and re-creating it.

  13. File is 78k now and still won't upload

I get this message "Used 1.11MB of your 1000K global upload quota (Max. single file size: 5GB)"

Guess you'll have to go into "My Settings" and delete some old attachments. I just cleared out some of my old ones.

  14. I'll grant you that a lot of the armour in Skyrim (and Oblivion before it) looks like it was designed by somebody that doesn't understand the basic princible of armour (i.e. to deflect blows, not catch them).

In reality all of the spiky crap you see on most armour sets would get you killed like as not. And i'm not even going to start on the skimpy female armour sets :whistling:

Edit: My personal favorite (looks wise) was this ebony armour from TES3

  15. I don't know why you bookshelf isn't working as I have never used one of the Bethesda ones (I created my own bookshelf for 594 books, i.e. all of them)

The links/relationships between selected objects are duplicated/copied when you pres Ctrl+D or Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V, however any links to other objects NOT selected are NOT copied.

    e.g

Item A is linked to Item B, Item C is linked to Item D and both C & D have an enable parent of Item E

Select items A+B+D+E (not C) and duplicate

The new copies of A&B are linked and the new copy of D has an enable parent of the new copy of E but the link to C is lost.

  16. Yes, I have a bigger problem got a castle floating over the ocean. Can't upload images just get error message

When you convert the screenshot to jpeg format try lowering the quality to ensure the file is less that 250k, I ususlly drop the quality down to 45% for screenshots.
