  1. You wouldn't use the GECK for this. You need a "mesh editor" such as Blender 2.49b (NOT a newer version), a

texture" editor such as "PAINT.NET" or "Gimp", and "NifSkope" (all Free to use). If you aren't familiar with them, then you have a learning curve ahead of you.

Please see the "Programs and Tools" section of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article for links to the proper tools. Then look at the "Custom items" section for links to tutorials and videos, along with the "Spawning modded items", "Armor and Clothes", "Blender Mesh Editor", "Conversions", and "NifSkope Mesh Editor" sections for other tutorials, videos, and "TIPS" from other mod creators.

From the above you should realize this is not a trivial exercise. But it is something within the capabilities of a novice mod creator if they have the patience to learn the necessary basic skills which will serve you well as you move on to make more complex mods.

Thank you for your response, I will be sure to give these a try

  2. Apologies for any rookie mistakes, I am new to using these forums as well as using the GECK.
I have recently been using the Helmet Overlay mod for New Vegas and am trying to add its functionality to the headwear in The Frontier, however I have little to no idea on how to accomplish this, if someone could walk me through the process or link me to a video related to this I would be immensely greatful, I am aware that the nexus page for Helmet Overlay has a guide on this but thats only for an esp, how would I extract indivual items from the esm to patch?

    Any advice would be appreciated.
