Blog Piece: Nexus plans for stability and infrastructure improvements.
vincent1333 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I give you guys all the props in the world. It is a beautiful thing to see a group of people do something so awesome, just for the sake of doing it and pleasing people. It is easy to see how much money this site could actually make if greed was your goal, and it very noble of you to be able to look past that and focus on the content itself. I've been coming to this site for a few years now and the experience has only gotten better with time. You guys do a fantastic job and I wish you the best. In short, thank you for your efforts and keep up the phenomenal work!! -
Just wanted to provide an update. Happily, it is a positive one! It seems that my issue may have been a driver problem after all. After my most recent wipe and re-install I have not suffered any freezes at all!! I even raised my ugrids value out of curiosity and it is running stable at 9, when previously the game would crash when raised above 5. I'm going to play a bit more and test some different areas, but if I don't report back, consider my issue solved!

Thanks for the tip, but as I mentioned in my original post, I've already tried both lowering the resolution and completely removing DSI. Despite this I still experienced freezes. I haven't touched Skyrim in a day or two because I have been messing with Crysis. But I did do another complete wipe of my graphics drivers with a re-install of the 12.11 beta drivers. I'll check to see if this offers more stability. Once again, thanks for the input!!

I have cut some mods out. And while there may be a couple more I could lose, I would rather not cut too many. I've read stories of people running upwards of 200 mods with no issues. If it is possible, I would like to achieve it. Thanks for the input though. I appreciate it!

Thanks for the input! Being that the crash is happening with vanilla spells, the conflict must be with a mod that alters them in some way, hence my suspicion of Skyre. But as I mentioned earlier, the freeze continues even without it. I've tried removing any mod tied to spells with no luck.

Hello, friends. I come to you at wits end, hoping for some sort of assistance or a finger in the right direction. The problem is the seemingly random freeze of my game. It most often occurs when a spell is cast, by myself or an enemy, though it is not completely bound to this rule. I have been working many hours a day for the last two weeks, scouring the boards and the web, attempting to remedy this issue on my own. But I have had little luck. What I have tried so far: Mod sorting through BOSS Fixing errors presented by BOSS list Using Wrye Bash and a Bashed Patch Lowering Resolution/Anti-Aliasing Deleting .ini's and generating new ones Disabling Mods using the Binary Method (Half at a time) Updating Drivers Complete re-install on a different drive Checked for overheating on both CPU and GPU Likely others that I have lost track off... After all of this tweaking and testing, it seems to be a mod conflict, or just a bad mod. But I am not certain. Given the random nature of the freeze, it is sometimes difficult to replicate. I have heard that Deadly Spell Impacts was causing a similar error for some people, but even after lowering the resolution and finally removing the mod all together, I still got the freeze. Skyre was mentioned as another culprit, but, again, with it disabled the freeze remained. My system spaces are as follows: Intel i-5 3750K OC'ed to 4.3 Ghz Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Stock Asrock Extreme4 Kingston HyperX 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz Corsair GS700 700Watt My mod list: BOSS log: And finally, a big chunk of my Papyrus log: I would truly appreciate any insight into this matter! Please let me know if any other information might be of use. I only recently built this new computer with Skyrim being one of the biggest motivators for me to take the plunge. It would be terrible if all of my effort was in vain! Thanks!!

Increasing to ugrids 7 causes freeze/crash
vincent1333 replied to SeraVerte's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Hi, I just wanted to chime in that I am in the same boat when changing my ugrids. My game runs beautifully with max settings and every mod under the sun, but the second I bump ugrids up I get a crash in the same manner as the OP. The game runs great at 50+ FPS, but will crash when loading a new cell. MOTOSXORPIO mentioned that a lack of VRAM may be the issue, but my card has 3gb of VRAM. Is it possible that 3gb still isn't enough? The rest of my specs are very similar to SeraVerte as well: Intel i5-3570K (OC'ed to 4.3Ghz) Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB 8GB RAM Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to say you are wrong, MOTOSXORPIO. I just want to figure out the issue for certain. Raising ugrids is probably one of the best ways to improve the graphical quality of the game and I would hate to just give up on it. -
I have an update for my crashing issue. I tested the game with all of my mods disabled, and still got a crash only a few minutes in. Any ideas? Could a corrupt save cause these issues? I will attempt a new game with mods disabled and post my results. EDIT: Started a new game without mods, and it seems to be running nicely. No crash after about 10 minutes. Gonna try adding mods a little at a time. EDIT 2: Corrupt save idea is out. Experienced a crash after optimistically adding all of my mods back on at once. At least I am reasonably sure it is a mod conflict now. Now to find out which one(s).

Ok, I'll give it a try. And I will keep testing my mods as well. Thanks!

I already use the latest version of Game Booster. I usually manually close all applications then run Game Booster before I begin playing. I also defrag pretty frequently, especially once I install a bunch of new mods. Thanks for the input!

Hello, all After perusing the Nexus and searching google thoroughly, I am coming to you fine folks for help. You see my issue is that while playing Skyrim I will suffer seemingly random crashes, with no clear cause. Sometimes I can play for over an hour with no issue, and sometimes the game crashes after only a few minutes. I'm rarely doing the same things when it happens either. To top it off, I am getting near constant stuttering during play, though my FPS read in the 30's most of the time. I have been playing Skyrim on the PC for a few months now, including multiple uninstalls and re-installs, but I have never had these issues before, even with many of the same mods installed. I am not sure if it is a possible issue with the most recent patch, or if I have finally reached my systems capacity for running concurrent mods. I do use NMM and BOSS, and even gave Wrye Bash a swirl to see if it might alleviate some issues. But no luck. I will post my system specs, along with an attachment of my BOSS report. Hopefully one of you can see an issue where I cannot. In the mean time, I am going to disable all of my mods and attempt to test each one individually, though given how random the crashes come, this may prove difficult. Thanks in advance for any help. Ditto. This just happened within the last day or two as well. Whenever I open the map no information is displayed at all. No icons, no menu, just the map itself. However, if I bring up the local map all of the icons appear behind it. I have tried uninstalling some map mods that I had installed, but no luck. I really can't think what mod could be causing this, but it makes the game unplayable for me as there is no fast travel, and I can't even orient myself in the world without icons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton.
