Recently I've been getting game freezes when accessing other things' inventories (can be corpses, merchants, chests, anything else with an accessible inventory). I found a chest that causes the crash 100% of the time and decided to use the 'showinventory' command to see what was up. This is the result, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The 08xxxxxx ID is for Armory of Tamriel 1.16 and the 0802xxxx IDs are for the Armory of Tamriel Armor beta, that much I know. What I don't know is why it's causing crashes. Removing all of the items from the chest (sans the gold) allows it to open as normal. Any ideas? Edit: I've narrowed the item down to (in this case) the Elven shield of eminent blocking. Removing it from the chest allows me to open it, and adding it to my inventory (and then trying to open the inventory) causes the game to freeze. Not sure what this means, but I'm reporting it with the hopes that one of you guys will. Perhaps it would help if I mention that on some enchanted items, the enchantment description is replaced with a jumble of characters. Throwing stuff at the wall here in hopes that something will stick.

I'll give that a try Ripple. The things we do for the love of the game eh? I'll post back with results. EDIT the 1st: Disabling the first half of my load order crashed the game when entering Dragon's Reach. I've decided to work from the bottom up, and I know now it's something in the bottom half. Working to narrow it down now. EDIT the 2nd: It was literally the last mod I installed (I should say subscribed to as it came from the Steam workshop). It's the Pit Fighter Traveling expansion pack. Think it's safe enough to just disable, run through and then reenable?

Hello everybody. I've discovered a problem, and I'd like to know my available courses of action. I have an alternate start mod (Random Alternate Start to be specific) that delays the main quest line, as well as a ton of other mods. The game is normally relatively stable, with a few infrequent CTDs here and there. I've reached the point where my character is all pimped out and I want to start the main quest line. The problem occurs when talking to Jarl Balgruff for the first time. The moment he tells the housecarl (can't recall her name just this second) to dispatch guards to Riverwood, the game crashes immediately. It happens every time I get to that point in the dialogue. Rudimentary troubleshooting showed that by disabling all active plugins through NMM, I could get past that problem and start the main quest line proper. My question becomes this: Will I be doing my save any harm by disabling all the plugins, getting past that point and saving and then reenabling all plugins? Any script bloating (Not entirely sure if this is applicable here, but I know it's a problem) or what have you? Are there any other courses I should look into? I'm not keen on going through every mod in my list to find the culprit; I know it's not the Alternate start mod itself because I tried running through the conversation with it disabled and it still crashed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

How to make a spell add items to inventory
Jeremy66 replied to Jeremy66's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Hot damn sir, thank you very much. I'll get around to doing this some time soon. For what it's worth, you're definitely getting special mentions. -
Hello everyone. I'm very new to the whole mod creation scene, but I had an idea and I was wondering if it would be possible. Help would very much be appreciated I used to play WOW, and one of the mechanics I thought was pretty cool was the mage being able to conjure up food for his party. I play Skyrim using Skyre's Feast and Famine, and it occurred to me that the image of a mage running through a forest hunting elk with fireballs was quite absurd when he could conjure up some bread or something. I opened up the creation kit and promptly hit a brick wall. I have no idea what I'm doing. I made a teeny tiny mod that was nothing more than a glorified numbers tweak. This is something much different from that. I had a look at the transmute spell for inspiration, but the transmute ore effect seems hard coded and I don't know quite what to do. My question is thus two fold: Is something like this possible? If so, how would I get started on it? As a separate question, can a solution to this be found in scripting of some sort? Cast the spell and have the appropriate player.additem command fire? Thank you all for your time

Once you've loaded your save (say yes when you get the missing content message), save your game in a new slot. You won't get the missing content message with your new save. Thanks for staying with me the entire time Hickory. You're definitely getting a kudos, as well as Lady Milla for identifying my stupidity lol.

Thanks everyone, for all your help. I moved the Bashed patch to the end of my load order and rebuilt it, and seeing Lady Milla's post, disabled Vampire Hunting (I can't believe I was so stupid. I didn't see it required SI.) After disabling it, my character could sleep soundly, which is a relief. He would stand in the corner and wait like the world's worst insomniac. Thanks again folks On a slightly unrelated topic, is there a way I can disable the "Missing content" popup that comes up every time I try to load my save now?

M'bad. Turned off Lock Times, and I learned how to put things in spoiler (Sorry, I'm a real noob at BB codes. I didn't even know this thread had a second page! >.<) Now I don't claim to know anything, but the "Delinquent master" thing pointing at the Vampire Hunting doesn't look good. I may disable that and try to level up in the morning.

I thought about that, but I didn't want to stretch the page/want to post anything that I would regret sharing with the world lol. Ok, please use BOSS (first) and create a Bashed Patch (second) -- please read the instructions thoroughly. See if that helps. I downloaded and installed Wrye Bash and all the Python files it comes with, and made a patch. Besides from making some nifty changes though, it didn't fix my level-up crash problem.
-
Well, I installed the driver, fired up the game, loaded up my save and jumped into bed. After picking my stats and hitting exit, the game crashed >.<. I dunno what to do at this point.
-
So I checked for updates, and lo and behold, there is one. I haven't installed it quite yet, but I wish to thank you for simply recommending I check. I'll post when I find out whether or not it works.
-
Odd, the forum doesn't notify me of new posts. Thanks for replying fellas. Hickory, it goes black and then crashes. My drivers are up to date (to my knowledge, I'll be checking again), and it happens on any save file, whether it be a new character or my main. Fonger, I am using the unofficial patch, and I even checked myself to make sure the code that had to be fixed was indeed fixed. It still crashes though.

Hello Tesnexus. Here's hoping you can help me with your infinite wisdom. When ever I try to level up, my game crashes. It pops up, it lets me pick my skill points, but when I hit exit, the screen goes black, and Oblivion crashes. I made sure STrackLevelUpPath= had nothing after it, even after installing the unofficial patch. I've deleted every mod I had and reinstalled the game, and after patching, I am still crashing on level up. Doesn't matter what character I use, it crashes. Please help!
