  1. You guys are still arguing about this? If you don't like the survival save system just re-enable the console with http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11834/? and type "Savegame save001" etc whenever you want to save.
  2. If you're looking for just the textures, they are split up between several of the texture .Ba2s so you'll have to go through them to figure out the right one. Bethesda didn't really organize them very well. If you have the drive space, extracting all the .Ba2s into a reference folder is helpful. Then I use a tool like "everything" to search through them because Windows search is unreliable.
  3. Delete any interface mods and any loose files installed by interface mods as well as the interface folder found in your fallout 4 data folder.
  4. I have the same problem as the OP. It's not a matter of improving framerate, the framerate is fine. I'll have 70fps in downtown Boston than crash to 0 fps for a couple seconds, then right back up to 70fps. I can set the game down to potato mode with everything turned off, even edit the .ini to turn off DOF, turn off godrays, all distances set to closest settings, everything on low and it still stutters. The better the framerate the less noticeable the stuttering is. So if I'm running at 70fps the stuttering only lasts a second. If I'm at super ultra high fx and at 30fps the suttering lasts up to 10 seconds and makes it literally unplayable. But no matter what, it's always there. Removing the textures folder seems to alleviate some of the issue but there's still microstutter.
  5. I actually think this might be a bug with NMM...
  6. Make sure you have at least launched the game with Fallout4launcher.exe once as it auto generates your .ini files if they do not exist. Do you have file extensions visible in windows? That unknown "Fallout4" file should be "Fallout4.ini" but you probably do not have file extensions visible so you are just seeing the name of the file and not the ".ini" part since that is a file extension. Open that "Fallout4" file with Notepad and it should have a list of configuration settings. Go to control panel, folder options, view, uncheck hide extention for known file types. Make sure you have show hidden files also checked. Finally, you can created your own plugins.txt file. Just right click in the C:/users/my name/appdata/local/fallout4 folder, click new > Text Document. It will open a new notepad document which you can write your load order in: Add an asterisk before all non-Bethesda plugins. Your plugins.txt list should look something like: Save the file.
  7. Any update can "break" your game because they may make any number of changes. In theory if a mod is compatible with 1.5 beta it should be compatible with 1.5 live but we don't know what else they might change.
  8. Did you recently install the beta 1.5 version of the game?
  9. Are you using any mods which haven't been made compatible with v1.5? Even though you disabled mods in a mod manager, they can still leave loose files which will cause your game to crash at loading. Mods that change the interface (UI) or loading screen can do this unless they have been made compatible with 1.5
  10. That is apparently a bug brought in with the latest update this morning, according to Bethesda. Apparently, plugins.txt was not supposed to be moved; a hotfix is in the cards for later today. (https://community.bethesda.net/thread/10012) EDIT: Update 1.5.157, the hotfix, corrects the plugins.txt file placement. Thanks for the update :)
  11. When you say you deleted every file, make sure you delete the entire Fallout 4 folder. Mods like interface mods leave behind loose files that "uninstalling" will not delete. They will still be read by a fresh installation. Also make sure to delete your Fallout4.ini, Fallout4prefs.ini and Fallout4custom.ini
  12. Is your PC overheating? What is your cooling configuration like, placement of your tower etc? I see you have liquid cooling on your CPU but your GPU and HDs could still be getting hot.
  13. Updated the OP since the new update moves the location of plugins.txt to the Fallout 4 game folder. Have not had a chance to test yet.
  14. Uh, interface mods and settlement building mods generally don't require scripts (or may indirectly use vanilla scripts). ANY mod could potentially cause CTD if one of the game updates modifies a form or asset that a mod is using, if the mod hasn't been updated to be compatible with the new form/asset. that could be interfaces/string files/npcs/followers/dialogue/workshop categories/items/scripts/effects/anything really. There's no way to predict what records Beth will modify in their updates. Well for example just in Def_UI there are about 50+ xml scripts included. Most any UI mods that I have seen do in fact use scripts in some form. And no, not just anything will cause crashes as you're pretty safe using replacer mods for items and textures. We have also seen that Bethesda hasn't been making very many changes to the player character, or existing NPCs and their forms so mods which change NPCs or alter the character like hair mods are unlikely to cause problems. I'm just advising people they need to be careful about mods which alter things Bethesda has been changing a lot lately, like UI, interior cells, the workshop menu etc.
  15. I guess I'll just have to wait before I update any further then. Not gonna throw away 300 hours on two characters just yet. When I finish both, I'll consider updating then. Thanks for the info. The beta is quite literally the same version that the game will become once it goes live. Once they update the public release you're not going to be able to use these old saves either so you may as well start over, figure out how to get your mods to work or hope that the mods you use are updated. My advice would be, until the CK, Far Harbor and Survival is public, don't use scripted mods like interface and settlement building mods.
  16. I have to warn against USB microphones. I've recorded at home, in professional studios and have my music up on iTunes, Spotify etc. Get a little USB audio interface and a decent mic like an SM57 to start with. I would stay away from USB microphones because you need to invest a lot in one mic which you may or may not like. With an audio interface you can use any microphone and if you get more into voice acting/singing you're going to want to upgrade. Starting at about $50 you can get a decent single channel interface that can use any microphone you will ever buy from dynamic, condensers, phantom power, ribbons etc. You can also record guitar or even an overhead drum mic. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/behringer-u-phoria-um2 Learn to use your microphone and compression/EQ plugins. Distance and breathing are key to getting good, usuable recordings. A pop filter is more for keeping your face at a set distance from your mic, which is important. Of course all of this can be cleaned up in post but the better you record the less work there is later.
  17. Thanks for the info Clockwork. Awesome news, unfortunately I won't be getting one of those for a long time if ever but it will be nice to see prices on 900s drop. How much of a difference does 4gb to 6gb make since I've heard that 2gb on 4gb on the same card isn't that significant? Unfortunately there are a lot of complaints over support for the 700 series drivers and this will only make things worse for them. I wonder if we will start hearing the same complaints for the 900 series after these 1000s drop.
  18. Yeah I am finding 960s for $180 in 2g, $200 for 4g, not too bad at all. Oh cool I didn't know this. So will they start a new generation, err GTX 10xx? What's the story with that? If they are indeed coming out with a new gen in June then I may wait.
  19. A. You don't have to play survival, it's a NEW, FREE update. B. It's easy to enable saves and console in survival. C. They never disabled mods. Mods are not officially supported until the CK is released and Bethesda is under no obligation to explain how to mod their games using third party software. D. Achievements in no way alter your game experience.
  20. It looks like some kind of LARP armor a teenager made from trash bins. I've tried using mods which turn it chrome, or black and have tried telling myself it's not that bad but seriously... I hate it and hate that it's the highest tier armor in the game. I mean seriously, look at this. It looks like some kind of contrived riot gear you would expect to see in North Korea, guaranteed to protect you as long as you never get shot at. http://i.imgur.com/sK1OPdY.png Bethesda clearly was going for some Battlestar Galactica / Buck Rogers 1970s sci fi swag here but fell short. The worst thing is my character found a part of legendary light synth armor leggings so it looks like she is running around the Commonwealth with paint cans on her ankles. The other armor sets in the game are pretty cool but this... this is not cool. /rant
  21. Which version of the game do you have? Launch the game, at the start up menu (continue, new game, load etc) go to settings and on the bottom right of the interface menu in small text it says the game version.
  22. Thanks, something does seem odd, like why the single outputs for DVI, VGA, and HDMI... But the seller has excellent ratings. It says "NVID", so is China making counterfeit Nvidia boards? It does appear they are Chinese knock offs, here's a similar card with the same configuration that admits to being "not original" http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-OEM-copy-2GB-2048MB-GTX770-GDDR3-384bit-GTX-Geforce-Video-Card-GTX-770-Graphic/32213304083.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.42.eh7nZR&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_9,searchweb201602_5_10017_10005_10006_10034_10021_507_10022_10009_10020_10008_10018_10019,searchweb201603_7&btsid=399c5b98-eda4-44f1-823e-1f08beeede35 An admin on Tom's Hardware just told me "That's a counterfeit card. The 770 was only available in 2Gb and 4Gb and will require more than a single 6-pin power connector most are a 6 and an 8 others are 2 8s."
  23. Nothing has changed with how the game reads loose files. Replace steps 1 and 2 that mention NMM with 1. Place the .esm or .esp in your data folder
  24. A lot of women have irregular menstrual cycles and would especially in an irradiated wasteland. I don't think that would be a good way to detect a synth. In fact, healthy children being born in the Commonwealth would probably be less common than misconception.
