In response to post #7836655. #7839236, #7839407 are all replies on the same post. Gotcha, here I thought I had a moment, heh. This place is pretty top notch. Cool that they can do it, modders and moderators.

In response to post #7836655. I'd be happy with some sort of middle ground. When checking out the mods I'm thinking about using I read at least the bulk of the comments. I want to know if there are any serious problems with it. I want to see how the mod author reacts to those claims. Those two things will tell me a lot about the quality of the mod and the creator. Will it fubar my game forever? No. Will it cause me problems with my game, sure. I'm one of the ones that doesn't back up my saved game very regularly, like hardly ever. So I like to see varying points of view on a mod and not just the good. Mods that have no commenting enabled I won't download for that reason unless there are a ton of endorsements. Even then I'm apt to walk on by. Point in case, there is a mod that adds a cool sounding faction to Oblivion. One that many people would be and were interested in. I'll withhold the name though. Anyway, it sounded amazing and I wanted to dl it immediately just on the premise of it. However, there were several complaints about problems with it and they were all similar situations, many identical. That tells me there is a problem with the mod. The author was aloof and kinda took an attitude of that's not from my mod, it's your fault and your problem. That tells me a lot about the mod author. Sure, that can be the case but when there are so many reports of the same or very similar problems, it's either your mod has one or more of these issues or the droves of people that took the time to tell you about it are running the same load out and that's why their games are now bugged. That said, a comment that is just trash talking should be removed. There were no solutions as to how to correct the problems in the above mod but I wouldn't know how to either. Most of us are not possessed of that ability. I tracked the mod for several months to see if it'd get fixed, the problem comments continued to come in but more slowly. The interest in the mod was dying and probably from the reported issues and the lack of interest in the authors responces. I PM'd the author and asked specifically about them and if there were any plans to fix it because I wanted the mod and was told that there are and never were any problems with the mod. End of message. Sucked because it had such potential to be epic. Just needed some revamping on about half a dozen points. I think if he could have made this mod he could have fixed this mod too and had something worthy of my voting for FOTM on. Instead, it went to the obscure nether regions of the Nexus. Feedback from the community is important. So, going back to that middle ground thing how about mod authors can whack a comment but then it gets flagged for final approval from an admin or moderator? If it's not malicious or full of vulgarity or something breaking the TOS, it gets reinstated?

Non Steam copy of a Steam exclusive game
d181sp1 replied to bben46's topic in Formal Warnings, Bans and Takedowns
I had some problems with Steam back in the day, when they took over for Valve for the game servers but it was pretty minor. A decade+ later my son forgot his password after I built him a new rig and I had created his account on a now long gone email I generated and then never used again for him. Deleted due to innactivity. Sent CS an email, explained the situation in detail and they took care of it for us within 48 hours. Everything good to go. Maybe try opening a new case# with them and see if you get a better result? -
Deactivate 'em and go back to an earlier save prior to the mods?

Used to be that if you jump on the prop before the chopper pilot jumps in you can surf it while he takes off for a bit, sometimes. Then you die horribly. Not sure if you still can or not.

Until I got the SSD installd it flat out took forever to load into a map only to get booted before I could start playing on it. A lot. Several minutes to get into the game. Buddies would be in like they should and I'd go get a soda, mow the yard, take in a movie and come back, maybe go get groceries and go for a road trip. Similar processors/ram setup but they had SSD's. That fixed it for me.

Battlefield3 PLEASE HELP! I THINK I HAVE BEEN HACKED!
d181sp1 replied to eflixschalkaa's topic in PC Gaming
I had an issue where BF2 and 3 just vanished from Orgin. They weren't helpful. I had the boxes with the numbers and they told me those were never valid keys, ever. Been playing those games for years. BF2 since it was released. Had to get the B.B.B. involved to make it right. Hope you got it fixed. -
Mine was the Odyssey gaming system. Had just about every game for it.

NMM bug fix release and download hacking problems fixed
d181sp1 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Lot of maniacal rage here. Most sites get hacked, it happens from time to time but they fixed it and kept us informed. As for NMM, yea, it trashed my game, sucked fixing it and reinstalling everything. Took a chance, it was perfect and then it degraded over recent releases. Not worth the rage though but you see that on the 'net from time to time too. BETA isn't for me, went back to OBMM. No more frustration. As for splitting the sites to premium and non memberships I think it's a bad idea. I've been a member for about five years and just recently made a donation because I could at the time. That and for the length of time I've been enjoying this site, the games it makes even more spectacular and finally as a thanks for their making this all happen. Well, maybe not for the NMM... heh. Had the site required an up front fee I'd not be here. Kids are expensive and all. Later -
NMM bug fix release and download hacking problems fixed

In response to post #7635205. #7636326, #7636511, #7637460, #7637758, #7638512, #7638569, #7639971, #7645295, #7647439 are all replies on the same post. There's a lot of good .exe mods out there. The unofficial patches and Frans and Wrye come to mind. I think whacking the .exe mods on this site would be a disservice. -

Oblivion had a mod called Loth's Blunts and it added some very cool blunt weapons to the game via leveled lists. I like the looks of them and dislike the looks of the ones in Skyrim. Wondering if there is anything similar like that for Skyrim? Here's the mod: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/12939

Take a look at Sloff's horse mod. Looks pretty good. Enjoy

Understood. I use Bash so maybe I'll try it out sometime if I find one I like. So far, no dice. Looking for something that adds a selection of male haircuts that don't wind up looking like Bieber or feminine or something. If you guys have some suggestions to something more masculine I'm game. I did find one that unlocks the hair and eyes for all races, thinking I'll start with that and make it all Bashtastic 'n stuff. Thanks for the intel. Later

Never done it before. Can you have more than one at the same time or is it gonna blow up on me? Thanks

Not sure, don't use horses at all. Good advice though is to download and run BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software) to get them in your mods in the right order. It has a database that is frequently updated and has several thousand mods in it. I have a roughly 150 mod Oblivion install and I never crash. BOSS identifies all but four of them and I manually have to place them in the right area of my load order among similar types of mods. To that end you need the other program I'm gonna tell you about. You want to use BOSS to set your load order to prevent mistakes and thus reduce crashing and a game that fais to launch. The other mandatory tool you need is Wrye Bash. I recommend the 295.5 version of it. The newer versions I think were taken over by a different person and are buggy and have headaches attached to them. Learn Wrye, wont take long and you're gonna make what is called a Bashed Patch. More or less it takes all your installed mods and automagically makes them play nice with each other. It will add an ESP called Bash Patch to your load order, it goes dead last. Between the two you can run more or less whatever mod you think is for you and rest easy that you won't screw the pooch with your game again. BOSS for getting your mods in the right load order, Wrye for making them all play nice with each other. Later

I use that Tamriel Travelers mod too, it's a keeper. -

I've run BC and it's a great mod. I had a conflict with something, forget what and had to whack it though. With your video card it won't be an issue. Never tried CC but I'd think a lot of actors would be more cpu intensive and while you've got an older one, the Wolfdale core is still a good chip. As for the UL pack, you should have got that the second you found this site. It's so full of awesome that it makes even strong men cry. Loading lag never went away for me until I got an SSD. -
Look up a site called TOTO, (Total Oblivion Texture Overhaul- or some such) by dev/akm and spend some time looking and reading about options. Both of the mods you are interested in are featured there along with some more that you'll likely find interesting. He's not updating it anymore but as Oblivion is an old game, it's not an issue. He's got some mods on this site too.

I've used both just to see what the RTNM looked like. On an older rig use that. It's pretty well done and I can't say anything bad about it. Another one to consider for his rig is Jarrod's texture mod. It looks very nice but if I recall it's just ground textures, trees, fences, rocks, etc. I don't see why you couldn't install RTNM first and Jarrod's over it and have a drastically improved Oblivion on an older rig. If it's still too much, just do the RTNM and he'll still be stoked. I reckon a good rule of thumb is if he's running the game on high but only sporting 20 fps, stick with just RTNM and it'll be good to go still. On a more powerful one with a solid graphics card you want Qarl's. Something to keep in mind though is that if you are using a lot of texture replacers and VWD mods you should give serious consideration to the Qarl's Redemized mod instead. I've been running that for years now and the version with "least reduction" or something worded like that is 97% as good as Qarl's normal release. Benefit is it uses a good chunk less of your VRAM, allowing you to run more texture mods, of which I have a lot. I've heard it said that you want a decent amount of system ram too but I don't know if that's true or not. There are about a dozen spinnoffs of Qarl's with reduced this and pifii'd that and optimized fuzzy wuzzy's and I'm a graphics and mod junkie and have tried several of them and having done so, still recommend Qarl's Redemized above all of them. It's got three levels of reduction and even the "most" option looks a lot better than a stock Oblivion. Later
