  1. It's hard but what if nexus would just fight steam / bethesda with their own weapons but by the rules of the modders. What if you create your own service for selling mod's and offering the mod's the same time for free on steam workshop ? The worst which could happen is bethesda start's sueing this service, which could give enough attention so you find a solution with bethesda of being allowed to sell mods. At this point steam has a real competition and every sane moder would go to the place where he gets more from the cut. If they start sueing single mod's they start removing mod's from steam workshop too which would hurt both companies much more, so i don't expect them to do it , also the mod's you sell over there could be small mod's , mod's which aren't dangerous even too loose or give up. If you are upfront with this idea towards your friends, i'm even sure most of them will support you. Since both the service and the mod's are basically fine to loose (extra service / special mods) you might be able to force them to show their true face. Also if you stick together you could put the money for probably happening legal fights. If the legal fights don't happen , you just give the money to the mod authors. Again this is just a idea.
  2. In bigger companies (and i'm sure valve and bethesda belonging to them) someone tries to make a asumption how much money they loose in a specific situation. Watching the petition under those eyes it's not very well written for the community, cause it basically nowhere mention the failures of the companies, so it doesn't realy hurt the companies. It would be a totally different beast if 100.000 people sign a petition with a content like ... bethesda games are at best medicore without the work continous work of the moder, but would this many people sign such a petition ? So this soft version maybe gets more attention but their repution is still not realy at risk. Puplic attention from websites / magazins / bloggers and so on with real critic would make it a much higher risk for valve and bethesda and therefor more likely that they change something. I realy hope that after the first batch of articles more follow and this new articles will be more critical.
  3. To all of you who believes of the original idea of modding, makeing a game better free of charge for everyone who loves the game like you who modded it. Thank you for multiple hours / multiple projects i have used over the passt and i will use in the future. Noone should have been ever in need to invest so much energy like you guys now do to. Even it comes to late for some people, you are the guys who made and make pc gameing special. I honestly can't imagine how bad pc gameing would be without you. So thanx very very much for you countless hour's of investment, of working hard and of being always so quiet about what you do all the years.
