  1. I think the human women in the game are MUCH prettier overall than they were in both Morrowind and Oblivion. I think the elven races look ugly, though.

I've seen plenty of pretty women in Skyrim. I'm sure modders will make them even more attractive, though.

  2. I'm having the same problem. The game guide says you have to leave Windhelm, go somewhere else, and then return four times before the quest will trigger. Then you travel to the graveyard at night. (Someone else said it had to be 2 a.m. ... not sure if that's true.) I've done that and I'm still not getting the quest. It sucks, because you can't buy a house in Windhelm without that quest, according to the guide.
  3. I got the disc copy and it installed on my computer in only about 20 minutes. I think you must have done something wrong. Exit out of the steam download and then push the button that ejects your disc, then push the disc back in again. It should download in like 20 minutes. OR maybe your internet connection is just really, really, really slow.
  4. I have a dog now. Once I went inside a store, and when I came out again the dog had not followed me outside. He wasn't there any more. I went inside the store again, and there he was, still inside the store. I think sometimes their "follow" command gets confused. You might want to re-trace your steps to see if you accidentally left the dog in a house or store someplace.
  5. I was about level 20 when I was able to kill a giant. And then I could only kill it with the help of a follower. I pounded the giant with blasts of fire while he was focused on my travel companion. At one point the giant started running towards me and I was only able to survive by sprinting (holding down the alt key while I ran) away. Amazingly, my follower survived it all. LOL.
  6. This thread has been fascinating.

I'm playing a Nord, so I sided with the Stormcloaks. I just joined in the take-over of Whiterun. I have a house there. I haven't gone back to see if my house is still standing yet. LOL. Our next target is to take over Falkreath.

  7. You didn't ask if we ourselves were male or female. That would have been an interesting addition to your poll. I'm a woman, so I mostly play as a woman character, although I've played as a male character a couple of times in Morrowind.
  8. I just tried to do this quest. Here's what happened in MY game: I found the Ratway and several people tried their best to kill me. Some of them had names. I killed them all. I finally found Bryn ... what's-his-name ... and he told me that I was SUPPOSED to be attacked as some sort of test. At least that's how I interpreted it. He gave me another mission.

THEN ... I tried to get out of the Ratway again. I tried and tried and tried. I couldn't find the way out. No matter where I went, I kept ending up at the place where Bryn-what's-his-name was. I had to go back to a previous save. Thank goodness I had two saves.

I don't know if it was just me, or if my game has a glitch that's preventing me from exiting the Ratway. Maybe I was just running around in circles.

  9. Thanks for answering. In my game there are only two books on the pedestals. The third pedestal is empty! :verymad:

EDIT: I tried the TCL thing in the console. It turned out the 3rd book had slipped underneath the floor (or maybe it was the wall ... I forget)! You were right. It was a glitch.

I finally figured out how to turn TCL off again, by re-booting my game. Thanks.

  10. In Whiterun there is a woman called Uthgerd the Unbroken who will be a travel companion if you beat her in a fistfight. She is in a tavern called The Bannered Mare. She is in armor, so I'm guessing she's a fighter of some sort (i.e. not a mage).

I found another one -- a human guy -- in Riften inside a thieves' tavern. He is a mage who uses fire magic. He wasn't mentioned in the post above, so I thought I'd mention him. I don't remember his name or the name of the tavern, sorry. He charges 500 gold for his services.

  11. In Morrowind and Oblivion you couldn't change your character's hairstyle, so .... My guess is that you can't change it in Skyrim. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, though, and be wrong. For Oblivion I was able to find a mod that allowed me to change my guy's hair and face.
  12. I'm all for the patches, especially when they actually fix things and not make them worse.

Whoops, there I go hating on EA again.

LOL. I hear ya about EA. It seems every time they patch one part of a game they end up breaking some other part.
