  1. Sorry If I'm necroing but i am pretty baffled by the lack of blood mods considering the game has been out for more than 6 months on PC. I haven't had a chance to take a look at the game files yet in OPENIV, but I have some insight since I have modded and created custom blood and decals many time for GTAIV and V. In those games there was an fxdecal.ymt file which you can easily open with openIV and the contents can be extracted as .png or .dds while which are easy to edit or replace. The Fxdecal file was responsible for all the different footprints, bullet bangs, impact bangs, glass shatter textures etc. and it was controlled by a decals.dat file which was easy to edit with notepad++. You could even add new decals and add them to decals.dat and they would show up as additional textures so creating different blood pools was an option. I think something similar is in RDR2 because the generic blood pools are super simple just like in GTAV. Now, the damage decals on the NPCs and animals are a different story, those look a lot more detailed in RDR2 but in GTAV there was a peddamage.ymt file (again you could edit this) which contained all the different bullet wound, blood mist and splatter effects on the ground, objects, walls etc. This was controlled by a bloodfx.dat file, similar to the decals one and you could add a whole bunch of additional effects if you wanted to. Can someone take a look? It was really not that hard to create a blood mod in the past, but things might have changed in RDR2 with how moddable it is.
