First of all, thanks for this. My dumb ass didn't even realize I could do that, probably because I've never had to look for such an option since I could just enable them through the notification.
Exactly this. Yes, there's other ways to do it, this isn't going to stop me from using Vortex, but it's clearly a bug that needs to be fixed, and it's annoying to not have this specific convenience available.
The notification to install after download still shows up, so it's clear that this is a bug. Why only remove the "enable" notification but not the "install" one? And as multiple other people have pointed out in this thread, those automation settings were off for them when they installed the software. The only setting under Automation that I ever messed with before coming to this thread was the one to auto-deploy mods after enabling. Perhaps it didn't install in that configuration for you, perhaps it did and you don't remember, either way the only thing "non-standard" here is your bizarre animosity towards anyone who uses this program differently than you do. Keep it respectful, there are more important things in life to argue about than how you use a mod manager
