This fixed most instances for me: Delete these two things from Skyrim.ini uLockedObjectMapLOD=8 uLockedTerrainLOD=16 The values were different for me, but I was able to easily load two areas that had been giving me trouble once they were gone.

Of course, I don't know if this is a temporary fix or what, since I jumped on here to post my results the second it worked. :o)

And now for my turn. I, too, am stuck at this same step. Already re-installed NMM 0.44.6 with no luck. I'll await a solution. edited to add: Alright, let me add this. As *soon* as the program's main window popped up I grabbed it and started pulling it to the side of the screen. A message opened (that wasn't visible any other way) saying that my version was 'up to date'. Very odd. Would not reveal itself any other way that I found. I clicked 'okay'. Software works fine now.
