Hey y'all Upgrading from an AMD Phenom 970 @ 4.0 to an i5 2500k which I plan to OC to 4.5 ish. How much of an improvement will I see for Skyrim? Running 8gb ddr3, xfx 5870 1gb, at 1080p. Ultra settings, high shadows, Fxaa, no aa, 8x af, ugrids to 7, enb with no ssao. I get 28-60 fps depending on which region. Also using several high res tex packs as well

I know I've asked this before, and in part it's a compliment to Bethesda. But, do we know what platform the footage from the "Making Of Skyrim" and "The Sound Of Skyrim" trailers is from? It looks great. Somehow I feel the "Making Of Skyrim" trailer was mostly on console, as it was in 720p and the other was mostly PC. But I could be totally off, I know consoles do play at 1080p and there's some debate/speculation as to what "true" 1080p is defined as. Though, that could be meaningless as an indicator. Just my reasoning. However, can anyone shed some light on this one again? It looks wonderful regardless.

http://www.g4tv.com/...iew/?quality=hd that one Think that's mostly PC footage? Was looking pretty damn impressive. But most of what we've seen has been 360 footage/screens, which are very impressive in themselves. Can anyone confirm what platform that footage was taken on? My money's on PC, but I'd love to be wrong in this case. :D

Adding a Cyrodiil region to Skyrim
halorocka888 replied to halorocka888's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
This would be entirely feasible. It would just require an immense amount of work, to recreate the models from Oblivion, due to the fact Bethesda don't allow porting of their models between games (as the Morroblivion team discovered). I would be interested on working on a mod such as this, after I completed my Skyrim Mod which is currently in planning. :D Right, I would assume it to be very tedious. It just seems like it would be a wonderful thing to mod in given the new tools that are being presented with Skyrim in terms of models, graphic fidelity, etc. If it could be compartmentalized into separate areas of responsibility for a mod team, I think that would alleviate some of the workload or atleast distribute it properly. Example Have individual modders responsible for adding/recreating. - Landscape - Flora/Fauna - NPC - Quests - Cities/Buildings - Effects have you modded before? I know you said your inexperienced... but have you modded "at all"? and have you read that link I posted and others comments to get a better idea of this? Also I assume you mean to break all those catergories into smaller subcatergories,.. namely how many people you intend to involve. I don't mean to walk all over your parade,.. I would just like you to do alittle research first. Anyways, I can guareentee there will be many attempts at this kinda mod... i can also guareentee that most will fail. If we are patient, maybe we'll get lucky. Nope! Never modded myself. Hence why I came here to present my assumptions to people who know more about the feasibility of the subject. Was just simply using a bit of logic to outline how the workload could possibly be divided up. -

I play mostly on console and more and more on PC, at least with Oblivion (Got a PC copy later because it was so cheap). I used fast travel extensively, and then on one playthrough... I made a promise to myself not to use it at all and it has worked brilliantly. But to those who simply can't resist, mods should be made of course.

Sooooo...... The women will be more realistic right?
halorocka888 replied to Thunduaga's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I have no doubt that there will be a significant modding effort toward the character models. But... from what we've seen from the screenshots... the women look... attractive and not like Meg from Family Guy. I've got no complaints, but I'm sure people will mod more body customization options in, only prudent. -
To me, the Elder Scrolls series is about doing what you want. If I want a partner to experience the game with me, I afford them certain rights and privileges that are mutual. So the argument that "Your friend could screw up your experience by killing X" is just as much your own fault for allowing it to happen as it is his/her fault for doing it. You take a risk when you have another person play in the same world, but it is a risk that you are aware of and must trust your friend not to just go off the handle. Co-op is the only viable multiplayer solution for Skyrim. However, I do understand the problems with being far away from each other and having the world load differently or somesuch. I feel this could be easily overcome through careful tailoring of the game's design. But, with the current generation... it might just not be in the cards. I think it would be great to have the capability to enjoy the game with a friend, instead of just -your- story... it becomes -our- story, which is equally as immersive and rewarding.

A good question about Archery and Smithing
halorocka888 replied to jesbro's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Even if arrows aren't in great supply... and even if you can't craft them in large quantities somehow... they've been said to be more powerful, thus if you're a good shot... you won't need as many! :D -
Adding a Cyrodiil region to Skyrim
halorocka888 replied to halorocka888's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I now see a post further down that mentions this same topic. Can delete or lock this post if prudent. -
Hello all, First time poster. Inspired by mods like the Elsweyr mod for Oblivion, do we have any idea of how feasible/possible it will be to add sweeping areas to mod in Skyrim? I'm probably the least educated person in the realm of mods, so perhaps someone else can weigh in. However, my thoughts dwell on the idea of adding the region of Cyrodiil to Skyrim's map akin to the Elsweyr mod for Oblivion. It would seem fairly straight forward, as all of the content has already been covered. It would require a vested replication effort on the part of the modder/team to recreate Cyrodiil as depicted in Oblivion. Also, the Lore details that the events in Skyrim take place 200 years after the events of Oblivion. So, this would open the opportunity for creating new quests that are in relation to the Lore, Factions, and Politics of the era in which Skyrim is based. The only barrier to this, is dependent on the limits Bethesda imposes on map boundaries... but I'm sure this can be either bypassed or Bethesda will choose to make them moddable directly. I loved Oblivion immensely and really found Cyrodiil to be an interesting and expansive land. I'd love to see it recreated with the updates in Skyrim and really think that it'd make for a wonderful addition. Furthermore, I can understand the notion that this would be essentially creating Oblivion all over again. To an extent, it is... but as for the landscape, it would probably consist of mainly just replicating the landscape (With certain improvements to the cities, villages, etc to reflect changes in Lore) and creating new quests to fill that land. At least some of the work is fairly self explanatory as it consists of just copying the land presented in Oblivion. In conclusion, I really think this would be a worthwhile endeavor and would definitely like to contribute to the process if it were to be undertaken. Note - Perhaps this is better suited to the Mod Suggestion thread, but I feel it's such a large subject that should be discussed in all of its details.
