  1. No rating system, no matter how good, will always be perfect, unfortunately someone will always find fault with it. However, implementing a rating system is always a good idea especially to find likes and dislikes.

I am one of those who try to endorse and rate files I have downloaded, usually when I have longer than 5 minutes to rub together. Unfortunately this is usually haphazard and done irregularly.

I like to thank those that share and if something has gone wrong with a file will not be derogatory in my comments. Constructive critisism is a must as it assists users and makers. A framework in which to rate and discuss work would be truly welcome as it would then be the norm and used widely by all.

I appreciate the time and effort Moderators and Staff must spend reading the ever growing number of posts and admire them for their dedication.

I for one appreciate their time and can only applaud their tenacity and hard work.

Thank you one and all for your contribution on such a terrific site.

  2. Its just Alistair. She walks up the aisle and steps, then its Alistair who starts talking about the Hero of Fereldan but in Anora's voice then there's no-one just Anora's voice asking what boon my character wants etc. When that finishes its Alistair and we talk like normal discuss wedding etc, etc and we then do the rounds of the guests and I meet the crowd. Cut to the wedding which is absolutely amazing I hasten to add and then its the end. The right slideshows there so you'd think all's well.

Go to Awakening and Alistair treats his "wife" like something he's scraped off his shoe, doesn't refer to her as his wife etc etc.

This is why I'm totally confused, certain things are correct other's definately not and Awakening confused also.

I thought the wrong scene was playing but its like there's two trying to overwrite each other. I've checked using a search and cann't find anything.

    Helpful or just more confusion?

  3. Okay, switched off all mods and loaded one by one (took off Event Manager). Found the culprit for Redcliffe and have uninstalled it.

Took off all dialogue change mods, however, Anora is still crowned queen instead of Alistair being crowned king. Is this a vanilla fault???

Should I now install the dialogue mods one by one to see if it corrects it? Should I run the landsmeet scenes again?

If loading the mods (I use Zev Dialogue Fix, Morrigan Restoration Patch, Improved Romance Scenes - Alistair, Dialogue Tweaks and ZevRing) which should I use as the "Master" and which should I amend to enable compatibility? (Although I use IA, I've removed the folder that changed dialogues etc so as to make it compatible with the others.)

I usually have IRS as the master and this has worked in the past so am confused as to what the problem is. Have disabled Witch Hunt and Leliana's Song as suggested.

Thank you so much for your time. You must really hate me, I seem to do these silly things every so often.

    Thanks again

  4. Thank you will give it a go in the morning. Don't remember when it started as I was having fun making characters and messing with the toolset, getting everyone to Ostagar and then did a bit of beta testing for a mod. Had a terrible time with it so uninstalled game and put everything back on checking that things worked in Ostagar and Lothering. Didn't think about checking at Redcliffe (doh).

Let you know how I get on.

  5. Have attached a document showing the full list of mods currently used plus any override changes except for mops and mors. There are a number of texture, mesh, dialogue, lotus, utc files etc that I've not listed. Most of these have been included in the mods loaded and had to be placed in the override file manually.

    Hope this helps

Once again, thank you for all your help. I really appreciate the time you give.

  6. After playing through the game with the usual mods on, I've come up against a number of problems.

    1. After completing the Defense of Redcliffe I cannot gain the Blackmarsh or Chantry quests. The associated people are not there. I've taken off the quest mods that I usually have on ie The Bloodworks, Alley of Murders, Hilltop Under Seige, Ancient Elven Ruins and the result is the same. I've even taken off Improved Atmosphere and the other dialogue mods I have loaded and get the same result.

    2. At the end of the game I have Alistair as king and my character is going to marry him. We go off kill the Archdemon and bang, Anora is crowned queen although Alistair is there and he acts as king and we discuss the wedding.

    3. On entering Awakening when I meet Alistair he treats me as if we broke up and am not his wife?????

I have on ZDF, IRS, DT, Gatekisses and The Wedding, all modified to work together so am now at a complete loss.

I will install the game on my second computer and run through with the basics on, then add mods to see if I can diagnose the problems myself.

However, has anyone got any clues as to what could be the problem?

    Any advice/help would be appreciated.

  7. C++ was many years ago, like I said the ether took a great deal in 2004, Still can't find my "Dummies" book :-(

Mind you reading can also be a problem as I forget what I've read and then have to start again. I tend to do flow charts or write things down like a to do list you know

    1. Fill Kettle

    2. Plug in Kettle

    3. Get out cup

    4. Put in tea bag etc etc

    Sad isn't it.

Relearning more each day and getting better at remembering stuff.

You know what you said about dialogue tweaks may have been the crunch. Things were pretty much okay till I put that back on. Needed it for the Zevran Dialogue Fix Mod. However, not being able to find Zevran at all after 5 hours play and covering all of Fereldan in trying to do so is still a mystery to me especially as I had ZevranASAP installed and the cutscreen worked so I know it was being picked up. Maybe Zev got fed up waiting and went home...

    DW.

Thanks for the link downloaded and will take a look. Mind you this may be more than I'm counting on to try to sort but what the heck, I can't do any harm by looking :-)

  8. So even if the base.gda is renamed pertaining to the mod it is associated with it will/can conflict?

How do you open GDA files? That must be a real noob question but I've only recently "relearnt" how to open xml files to modify (in the last 12 months through playing DA) as I had a breakdown in 2004 and have "forgotten" how to do some of the most simplest things in computing. Its annoying since at times I know I should know how to do things but the knowledge seems to be lost in the filing system I laughingly call my brain. I learnt programming in SQL/Oracle and C++ but even now it can be double dutch even with my books it doesn't make sense. However I digress and must apologise.

I ask this question as chargen files can be modified and altered to show what you want, can GDA files be modified in the same way thereby correcting conflicts? I don't know what they contain so this may be a no go, especially if they pertain to objects or specific scripts.

Thank you for your help in this.

  9. I'm beta testing and have had to take some mods off that seemed to be causing a problem. Unfortunately things have gone really crazy and I'm unable to recruit Zevran (cann't even find him) nor can I do side quests in Redcliffe.

I'm going to have to uninstall and reinstall the game to hopefully rid my system of any settings that maybe intruding on what I'm doing.

My question is quite simply "Is there a load order", ie in Oblivion we had a load order that users followed in order to avoid crashes, conflicts etc. I was wondering whether there was anyway in which to do this for DA. For example I usually install in this order:

    Game

    Official DLCs

    Cosmetics

    Utilities/Game Changes

    Dialogue Tweaks

    Weapons/Armor

    Quests

Does anyone know if this is correct or if there is another way of loading mods so that conflicts can be overridden etc.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

  10. That'll hopefully be in DA 3 according to another post on here, so that'll be an 18/24 month wait

After looking at the concept art, pictures and reading a couple of articles that I bought I must admit I'm looking forward to DA 2. I'm going to look at it being another story in a chain of books that will all (hopefully) marry up to form a full picture of before, during and after. If handled correctly this franchise could go very well (again looking at it from the Elderscrolls series).

However, as I've already said the WH DLC was very disappointing for me, too quick, too expensive and more of a teaser for DA 2 than a follow on for DA 1. Hey ho, we can all moan as much as we like, we'll just have to see what the future holds.

The bits I did like were the banter and references to other DLCs. Had quite a few smiles there. I also enjoyed the fight sequences. The loot could have been better but on that note, why, can't take it anywhere with you can you so what the heck. A jolly to build fighting skills but that's all really. I liked Finn and the elf they were fun, but so was Sketch. Humorous and visually lovely but still not worth what I paid for it.

  11. "Let the Speculation Continue, and the Rumors Multiply! "

I agree completely Thandal. Its part of the fun isn't it. Same thing with the Elderscrolls series really.

Just hope I don't have to buy or upgrade the blasted computer to play it :teehee:

  12. It still doesn't have cohesion does it. The fact that Flemeth may have been killed off in DAO 1 if you took that route means that she shouldn't be around in her "true" form in 2 unless she is for say the first few years (before the blight) and changes later on into the game.

This DLC was named "witch hunt". Not much of a hunt and not much of an ending for Morrigan. Nothing resolved and like I said more of a prologue for DAO 2.

If a conclusion is going to be done then let it be done right not ham fisted and not thought through. Although fun to listen to and challenging in the fights this was something thrown together using objects already created. Nothing new, no story and put out as a teaser.

Bioware should get their act together and put out a proper DLC or at least let the end user know if there will be a follow-up of some description to the Morrigan story. Its been left hanging. If the games are following the books then let them be true to the books not a hobbled miss mash of nothing.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Dragon Age so far and have treated the latest DLCs as nothing more than side-trips whilst waiting for the new game to be released. I would still play the DLCs even if they weren't related to characters out of the original, just for the pleasure of it. So instead of hyping the DLC to be something its not lets hope the powers that be start advertising them properly so informed choices can be made and people are not disappointed.

  13. Ok where's the ending????? Totally confused now. Thought I would at least get to follow her to see where she went.

Very short, ending too abrupt, nothing resolved for me. Had a great deal of promise but once again fell short of expectations. Not enough loot. Cann't import stuff from other modules.

After taking three days to download it was expecting something more. All in all very disapointing although the fights were a great deal of fun. The banter between party members was also amusing and in the tower of magi (reference to mages having owls). Amusing but seen better mods produced by the community (the Bloodworks being one). Maybe we should have a community contest for the best follow-up to Morrigan. However, the references to Dragon Age 2 weren't hard to miss so one could class this as a prologue to that. Meaning however that:

    a. Morrigan could return to assit Hawke (or not depending on the powers that be)

    b. Flemeth is in the second installment

    c. Anything goes, continuity does not seem to be high on the hit list of EA or Bioware.

I suppose the way to take this is "Wait and See" and these teasers will continue to be released periodically to keep us (the end-user) sweet. However the cost of these teasers needs to be rethought as I think that it was definately too expensive for what it was.

Overall I suppose an amusing side trip which had nothing to do with the main event. Just telling her you were sent to find her (if not the original PC from Origins) meant nothing, as she didn't even ask why. So no cohesion for me.

I may be wrong but I think it was disappointing, costly and needed more thinking to make it fit with Origins. No ending here just more questions and a new beginning.

  14. Sorry not been back to you. Still mucking around with the mods. With children on Summer break not had much chance to do much as we've been uniform shopping (oh joy) which I'm still doing (2 in high school, 1 in primary going up next year).

Anyway will get back to you as soon as I have had a good luck. Will also follow your advice above and check the load orders and see if re-installing works.

    Thanks for your time hun..

  15. Will do as I've tried the Legion Quest and same thing happens instant CDT upon entering any sort of battle/confrontation. Will disable mods and see what happens. If no joy will re-install DA:A. Hopefully its something small and silly and a minor conflict that can be resolved with little or no fuss. (As it's me however, computer's bound to blow up and the world come to an end  )

    Let you know what happens

  16. Hi, back again. Worked well thro Origins, went with same character straight into Awakening (am running the same character a few times to test different mod compatibilities and to see how they affect the game in general). Did the Taking of Vigils Keep, Amaranthine, Wending Woods, and two side quests with no problem, got to Blackmarsh in search of Kristoff and upon finding his body experienced the same problem as before. However I can now not get to the next stage (as the fade files are loading I CDT). File size is 23,014kb have no mods that "change" Awakening (except for some mor's and a couple of files that import equipment into the expansion including Innodils Pocket Plane, that was done via the ini file). My system is a mid range machine less than a year old with 4Gb of ram with a Nvidia 9600 graphics card with an extra 1Gb of dedicated ram. I've also got 50.8Gb free on the c: partition that the game documentation resides on so am at a loss as to the cause. As far as I can tell there is not an Awakening exe it runs straight off the Origins one, so unless my file size is the problem I'm at a loss as to the cause of this crash. Was going to try the Last of the Legion quest to see if this was the case coz if it isn't then there's definately a problem with the Blackmarsh quest which could mean a repair of the Awakening files.

    Any ideas???

    Thanks for your time hun

  17. Followed your instructions and installed. Seems to be working okay so far. Some lagging and slowing which I'm surprised at but that's nothing compared to what was happening. Once again thank you for your help and time and also for adding me as your friend on the site. It is appreciated.

If I have any further problems with CDT will get back to you.

    Naomi
