  1. Yeah, I'm deleting them out of the folder of course~ And since the majority of the Steam-related mods are pretty old ones, I'm most likely getting rid of most of them anyways, so that should help too. I prefer Nexus over Steam too ^^ Again, thanks for the help, I'll be back with news to how (or if) this worked~~~
  2. Ah, so if I backup everything mod-related from the Skyrim folder into a different folder, it should work? I didn't think of that, but I'm gonna give it a try, thank you! I am definitely going to carefully add mods, as I also assume many have been updated/changed over the months, and whatnot. Anyways, thanks for the help! And about the mod count in general... I never knew there was a cap? Haha~ They've been running pretty fine, save for rather long loading screens (15-30 seconds, usually, but I am a patient person) and the occasional invisible saber cat. But since I am cutting down anyways, I should probably drop the count below 200 something :)
  3. So I got a new laptop a few months back and finally got around to reinstalling Steam and afterwards, Skyrim through Steam (I do own the CD but I didn't use it to install the game since it works through Steam?). Back on my old laptop it worked perfectly fine even though I had 377 mods installed (113 via Steam, 198 via Nexus). Now, however, I am running nothing but the Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, started a brand new game right from Helgen, and everything worked fine until I got out of that last cave and into the actual game, and as soon as I hit the ESCAPE key to open the System Menu to make a proper save and not the games quicksave, it crashed to desktop. To test it, I started the game again, loaded the quicksave, and hit ESC once more... another CTD. Any ideas what could be the problem because I literally set everything up completely fresh just like an hour ago and I didn't do any changes/additions yet. The only thing I did (in case it matters): Both Steam and NMM obviously backed up my previously installed mods that were connected to my account. However, they are all unchecked in the mod menu, so that leaves me with some confusion... Help?
