  1. I dont know what could really be causing these strangely specifics bug I've been experiencing or if I've just ruined my game and its baked into the save files now lol

I've included my mod list, most of it is entirely aesthetic mods but there are a few more intensive ones like ImprovedUI. In addition to the game crashing whenever anyone in the main party gets downed (for some reason Karlach is fine but Shadowheart and my Tav will crash the game, I haven't tested with most of the others but it's been a thing since the Gauntlet of Shar for some reason), I also have an issue where the option to use inspiration doesn't appear? It acts like I don't have any but I clearly have a full inspiration pool and it's unaffected when I gain inspiration. I'm sure it's a mod but ever since the latest full update I've had lots of issues. The only other thing I guess was I had Fantastical Multiverse but it wouldn't let me level up Astarion in specific for some reason so I disabled it while I'm playing this one playthrough, but I'm playing a half elf so it's not like it should really affect it I hope?

My mods are up to date including the BG3 Script Extender so yeah, mostly confused and annoyed lol

  2. Much as I do love the main story, it fails in an open world RPG. You can't have fun and go dick around the wastes if you think your newborn baby has been kidnapped. It really pigeon holes the player.

Far Harbor puts an amazing spin on this where you can admit you might be a synth, which would be a great explanation and a much better twist I think, but it goes nowhere and it still forces the player into a specific backstory. New Vegas handled it the best I think; no family, no friends other than the ones you make, whether you remember your backstory before Goodsprings or not is entirely up to you, and the main quest isn't insanely imperative so it doesn't feel weird that you're goofing around.

But yeah, I'm happy for any proper Alternate Start mods, since half of Fallout games for me is roleplaying and creating a character. One that entirely bypasses the beginning since that takes way too long to get through anyway when you start a new playthrough. Will certainly be trying Another Life, thanks for linking that

  3. Did you actually try to play the game or did you just see that the specs were changed, because I have a decent gaming pc that's nowhere near that powerful and I can run on high graphic settings on like 40-50 fps with only occasional dips when the screen is full of super mutants exploding

  4. Hello once again VA forum! I've got several roles open for an in-progress mod and I'm sure you lovelies could help me out <3 This is also posted on Buford Casting Call if anyone would find that more convenient for auditions

As most of these quests are still in the infantile stages of development, many are subject to change, and I may be adding or removing certain characters. On the plus side, if you have any interest in writing, then I welcome VAs to pitch their own ideas involving the characters, story, and general direction of the mod. You will have a HUGE say in what happens with your character. Even if they end up cut, or potential VAs are not picked for the role, you can still contact me if you'd like to offer some help. Writers are always needed and if you have any modding experience, that would be a huge plus, but obviously not necessary.

Preferred method of contact is skype, but private messages are also cool. This endeavor might take awhile and I would very much appreciate being able to get a hold of you easily, I've lost contact with several voice actors before that just ceased to speak to me and there is nothing more infuriating.

    Gerard

A poet with an inflated ego large enough to eclipse the sun, despite the fact most of his poetry is absolute rubbish. He is an inherently dramatic person and says most of his lines like he's on stage, addressing a captive audience. This role currently has several possible choices so I am not in a dire need to fill it, you're still more than welcome to try out.

(speaking of his crush, wistful) My muse of course! My light, my very soul. A lovely songbird who picked up the shattered remains of my heart with beautifully spun ballads.
(slightly irked and accusatory). It's the least you could do after dumping me at the fire festival, in front of everyone.
So you understand my vexation. Please, companion of my companion, aid a poor soul in his quest to achieve his heart's desire?

Gerard's muse that wants less than nothing to do with him. Somewhat snooty tone through most of his dialogue. Fairly small role but no less important.

Did he send you here? (exasperated noise) I've told him a thousand times, I've no interest in sitting around while he vomits banal soliloquies and preens in the nearest reflective surface.

(impressed and a little surprised) Are those truly his words? I must admit... I did not think he was capable of real poetry.

That might be the most disgraceful sonnet yet.

    Meesei

    http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/Lily_Skinner/meesei_zpstruncxkh.png

She's on the older side, but is a little more light hearted compared to her old friend Okan-Za. It's fine if the VA doesn't have the traditional 'Argonian' voice, i.e. the 'century old smoker gargling rocks' voice type. Still should sound gruff as she's middle aged.

Look at you, the baby moonbeam all grown up. Still a bit of a runt, aren't you?

Oh shut it, Eutei, I haven't made a mistake, you stick out like tits on a bull. And you haven't exactly kept your presence quiet, following around one of the most famous people on the continent.

I hardly expect you to remember old Meesei. You were still in diapers the last I saw you, hardly off the teet.

One of the most integral characters in the mod apart from the main character. A shadowscale who believes strongly in the traditional values of Blackmarsh. While he's not an 'old man' per say, he should have a mature sounding voice.

(a father to his estranged son, weary) I was foolish, prideful. I've spent nights beyond counting alone with nothing but my thoughts... and I know what I did was beyond cruel.

(recieving news that his wife passed away) Ah... I suspected as much. I'm sorry you had to go through that alone, I should have been there...

If you cannot find it in your heart to forgive me, I would understand. Just know that I loved you both very dearly.

A seemingly unassuming farmgirl, though this is just a cover for her real work as a bounty hunter. Young but somewhat rough sounding.

(meeting an old friend) It's so good to see you again! I feared your lucky streak had finally run its course and landed you in a jail cell.

It's a family treasure. An artifact of the Oblivion Crisis. The fools don't know the importance of what they've got.

(cocky, chuckling) You did much of the work for me, your help was invaluable. Without you, I would have had to kill all those bandits myself.

  5. Hello everyone I have been playing Skyrim often and love the game especially the modding community projects. I have been told over the years to get into voice acting so I can offer my services here. I will be posting some new samples possibly tomorrow. I can do many of the races and would love to be apart of any projects.

  6. Another follower mod in the Skyrim Nexus?

    http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t494/Lily_Skinner/2015-09-20_00004_zpsgwuoh7m5.jpg

    I'm sorry not sorry.

    The Mod

"I wanted to be a dragon when I was young. I thought I was halfway there, until I jumped off the roof trying to fly.

Ah, shattered my dreams. And my pelvis."

A fully voiced follower mod with custom framework and a 20 page script as well as around 100-200 implemented lines. I'm looking to get that number in the 1,000's cause I am a masochist and a sadist. Pick has a varied array of combat taunts dependent on enemy type and location, as well as a few scenes where he bonds with the player. Sometimes over mead, sometimes over war stories, sometimes over booty. And I ain't talking 'bout the treasure kind.

He features a romance quest, a companion quest, and soon will have a few side quests with other characters from his past (for example, an old flame that really wants to claw his stupid eyes out). Ideally, there will be some companion point system that goes up when the player finishes his related side quests or presents him with his favored shiny baubles that unlocks parts of the romance quest. Alternatively, a rival system that goes down if the player insults him or picks rude options when in dialogue with him, akin to the friendship/rivalry system in Dragon Age II.
However I have no idea how to do this. Which is why I'm turning to the Nexus in the hopes of recruiting a few modders more experienced than me to help.

I've laid most of the groundwork, but my scripting knowledge is... duh. So I need more help in this department than the others. I could continue on my own, but then I wouldn't be able to add many of the things I have in mind, as through most of this mod I've learned as I went along.

    The Character

"Zenithar's balls! What, what I wasn't doing anything!"

Pick is a sarcastic bundle of awkward with unresolved Mommy issues and a penchant for buggery. His main goal in life is to have a good time and try to forget that everything is terrible. Nothing pleases him more than to sit with the player in a tavern and have a laugh over drinks, take a stranger to bed, and work off the hangover the next morning by robbing a nearby nobleman blind.

He's been mostly on his own for the past decade, give or take a fair weather friendships, so it's a bit jarring for him to have a constant companion all of the sudden. Not to mention when that companion turns out to be the single most important person in the world at the moment. Afterall, his biggest problems before meeting the player was avoiding guardsmen and ineffective hangover cures. Now he has to fight dragons, end civil wars, defeat ancient evils, and come face to face with Daedric princes.

Pick is mindblown that everyone is just cool with these sorts of things.

He is ( to my knowledge) one of the only followers that bothers asking how the player is feeling about all of this. After all, you go from being a relative nobody to the Dragonborn, the fate of the world on your shoulders, the product of ancient prophecies. How could anyone deal with that sort of pressure? He takes great care in helping the player shoulder the responsibility placed on them, and makes damn sure he has a distraction to lighten their spirits at every opportunity. He is very much a roleplay oriented follower, and I'd like to flesh him out as much as possible, as well as give the player varied options that better suit their Dragonborn's personality (ala Interesting NPCs)

And that's why, in addition to fellow modders, I'm seeking a few writers to not only work on Pick, but on the other NPCs in the mod as well. As I mentioned, I have 20 pages of idles, taunts, location comments, in addition to the dialogue branches of his quests, and I'd like to breach the 1,000's. Even simple suggestions on things he could comment on in the game are greatly appreciated.

I want Pick to rival the likes of Inigo, Vilja, and Sofia. Though... obviously he might not be as big as the titans of the follower category. Still, a girl can dream.

TL;DR: I've got a sassy Argonian follower and I need people to help make him the sassiest.

While it is entirely possible that I can do the modding part on my own (I've gone it alone this far), it's the writers that I'm really leaning on, as I'd like to get outside opinions on quests and obviously dialogue. I've bounced ideas off friends up until now and very few have any knowledge of Skyrim's lore, so I want to get out of my little bubble and make sure everything is up to snuff. I've been a one woman team for a year now through bugs, voice actor discrepancies, and rewrites. For ages I hesitated reaching out for help (even now I'm not entirely confident in posting this) but after a long break, I've gotten back into it and decided it was time I said 'screw it' and reached out to the community.

I'd be much obliged for any help anyone can provide. Message me if you're interested on working on this mod and together we can make this sassafrass the best around.

    One of the best.

    Top 10.

    ... Top 50.

    ... A pretty cool dude.

    .... Help.

  7. Aww man, that blows. I was looking forward to voicing more crazy Vaermina stuff

But I definitely understand losing your modding spark for certain projects. Good luck with Beyond Skyrim, I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it.

  8. I'm going to just shamelessly advertise a bit and say I have a follower in the works that is 100% storyline driven and jesus it's a pain in the balls. I can see why people would rather just make a pretty custom face and piggy back off vanilla scripts (Seriously all you have to do is copy and paste stuff it's really not hard) , but personally I was always a little irked with how little personality Skyrim had for many of its characters. There are a few standouts but they only stand out for a little while before they succumb to bland Bethesda-itis. That and most of them just kind of exist only when you're there.

At the end of the day, stand a sexy follower next to a follower with actual character, I'm gonna take the one with a storyline. I can shove them into whatever sexy armor I want later on.

  9. I've added nearly a 100 lines of voiced dialogue to a custom follower, yet all of a sudden, I can no longer create responses. If I create a topic in Player Dialogue, I can't add a new line of dialogue, but for some reason it works fine in Dialogue Views.

I wouldn't mind so much but this means I can't add anything to the Misc section like idle comments. It seemed to start after CK crashed whilst I was working on dialogue awhile ago but I can't be sure exactly when it started.

Would anyone mind helping me out? Has anyone else run into this problem and found a fix?

  10. It does seem unnecessary to me to straight up censor any mention of the site, not allowing links I could maybe understand and I'm all for the anti-piracy policy, but the borderline animosity is unwarranted. Plug your ears and go LALALALALA all you want but the site will still exist and might actually have information modders here will find useful, yet aren't allowed to discuss because ooooh bad site full of nasty pervs and sodomites that don't like us finger wag finger wag

  11. You might have better luck posting this to the actual mod request forum, but if you're interested in learning how to do this yourself as you've said, the Creation Kit website offers a lot of helpful tutorials and tips, and the tutorials topic pinned to the top of this forum has some great information as well.

Followers might seem daunting, but they're one of the simplest things to make if you piggyback off the existing follower scripts. Armor and weapon modeling is a little trickier, but I'm sure you can find someone that will be willing to help.

  12. I did this accidentally with an NPC once, disabling the head tracking means they also don't look at the player when you're speaking to them. However, if you're ok with that, this type of thing can be easily achieved if you just go into the CK, open up 'Race' in the 'Character' menu, and untick the box that says 'Uses Head Track Anims' on each race.

  13. GUYS. Chill out. She did not accuse anybody of anything. She said she has been burned before so she has adopted a policy of abundant caution. Checking the comments and assuming that the Nexus would not allow malware are not 100% effective strategies. The Nexus has been hacked before and popular mods replaced by viruses (though they have beefed up their security since). If she's unwilling to take the risk that's her prerogative and it isn't insulting to anybody.

Just saying that it's a big mod and has proven that it's reputable, and flat out refusing to use it when it more or less is what you're looking for just because it requires a different software is silly. It's like saying you just won't use mods that require FNIS or SKSE. It really limits your choices. I get that viruses can leak through just about everything, but it's like if you're avoiding perfectly fine mods on that basis, why even bother downloading mods? Any one of them could be replaced with a virus at any time.

I was more bothered with OPs attitude, did you not read the whole wall of text wherein she just completely blew up at a guy over a rather small comment? I mean he can be considered at fault here too, but she just completely derailed and started capslocking about how she'll never use one of his mods and instead of making the situation better just decided to make it way worse. It's unnecessary. I might not have even said anything if she didn't specifically make of point of actually insulting him in that follow up post.

  14. Actually implying that a reputable modding team has placed some virus in the mods they worked hard on is beyond insulting, as is completely blowing up at them instead of just apologizing if you caused them offense. Considering you did throw a little shade at a mod he was involved in, it is 100% pertaining to him.

Kind of makes me question your age and mentality as well if you just instantly start CAPSLOCKING and boycott a team of modders because one of them was insulted by you claiming their mod might damage your computer.

For future reference, if you're really that suspicious about a mod, check the comments. Better yet, just assume that Nexus would not allow a file with a virus in it to stay up very long, and it definitely would not be one of the most popular mods on the site.

Perkus Maximus was probably your best bet too so good luck finding something else, I certainly can't point to anything better.

  15. Sooo the adult version would be, what, smuttier? Have sex scenes or something? I don't think that would be necessary, there are a lot of mods over at lover's labs that make it possible to dingle your dangle with just about any NPC in the game (uh COUGH not that I would know or anything) so if someone wants that they could probably find a mod that makes it possible. Or you know there could be a small 'romance' expansion or something like that that would add whatever you have in mind.

I have enough crap in the works that I shouldn't even consider taking this on but PM me and I'll maybe see what I can do

  16.

I've assembled 4 computers with every operating system imaginable. Do not discount your own abilities and potential to learn. I have used blender and gimp. Scripting is simply learning the vocabulary. And I am currently trying to figure out how icons can be inserted into the drm'd menu system of Skyrim.

All these things are easy to learn, not many people are good a teaching though. This is a problem that manifests in all walks of life.

True, that might have been a bad example, but still, I assume you spent some time learning all this? It took me several years just to get to the point I'm at now, and many people have other things and interests to occupy their time that they can't or don't want to have to dedicate to learning something like modding. If they have an interest in learning it, fine, if they just want to enjoy a mod someone else created, that's fine too.

Modding is a form of entertainment at the end of the day, meant to entertain others.

It's not a skill most people have practical uses for and so many don't learn it. It doesn't hurt to learn of course but I don't see the point in staring down our noses at people that don't care to.

When someone asks me to draw something for them, I don't scoff and insist they just go learn to do it themselves.

  17.

Difference is that no one was forcing people to pay for mods. You don't want to pay? Don't pay and use an alternative mod. Having choices is a good thing.

Well not really, some mods are one of a kind and you can't just go find a different one. There's only one SkyUI, one Inigo, one Immersive Armors, one Flora Overhaul. You won't be able to find replacements for a lot of great mods, and it'd suck if you had to settle for mods that might be vastly inferior.

The best mods have always been unique, but that doesn't mean you have some inherent right to them. Those mods are unique and there's no option now, but if they were not free there's a very reasonable chance that alternatives would be created maybe even by you.

I just came up with something to explain my view of this situation over on the official forums based on this quote:

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Maimonides.

Chesko, Arthmoor, and the SkyUI team have always shared freely with the community. They have been master fishermen and mentors to others. They said that they would gladly continue help people learn to fish but those who just wanted to eat what had already been caught would have to pay a little. The community demanded their usual free daily catch of fish and have gotten it for now. I understand that it's easier to just eat the free fish someone else caught, but to keep expecting them to fish for you every day is definitely entitlement.

What is more valuable to the community the knowledge of how to construct mods or the mods themselves? Choose wisely because in the longer term you could end up with neither.

I have zero 3D modeling experience, my scripting knowledge is very limited, and even if I learned and practiced for a very long time, I doubt I would be able to recreate or make something as good as a lot of the mods I use that are just simply more complicated and beyond my capabilities. The idea that 'if you want a mod just make it' is really like 'if you don't like this computer just go make your own'. Modding is a fairly technical thing, and not everyone has the ability or tools to do it as well as others. Or the time or the energy or the drive.

And hey, there's nothing wrong with that. It's not a tool most people will need in their daily lives, and if they just want to download something they can enjoy, I see no reason to shame them for not being able to do it themselves.
