how did they get the ambush part down

So im looking for some opinion as far as a house in skyrim I have the Dev Avezra but of course i need a place on the ground I have The Hearthfire Fortified Heljarchen Hall mod but i dont know weather or not to get a custom home. the Hearthfire Fortified Heljarchen Hall mod greatly enhances the home my reasoning is there are already buildable homes that can be enhanced, so why get a mod home, most mod home to me dont feel like they dont belong in the landscape of skyrim I am very much impresed with mod homes which very much suit a the level of hero that skyrim has but im more of a humble hero, i dont really feel entitled to one, im fine with hearthfire so my question is what do you think? do like a big home whether it be castle, mansion, hidden realm, etc OR do you like a more smaller home, one that doesnt really say HEY LOOK AT ME IM A BIG HOUSE.
