  1. Hi everyone. I'm getting unbelievably sick of the 1-handed SMG and sawed-off shotgun and after fiddling with them for a bit I realised that the ingame artwork is simply not cut out to support 2-handed animations on them. I figured my next-best option is to totally replace the 9mm SMG, 10mm SMG and sawed-off artwork with a user-made models and textures. Unfortunately it seems most of the best guns are buried in massive compilations, and plenty of people seem perfectly okay with SMGs and chopped shotguns being used one-handed ; so it's turned out to be harder-than-expected to find what I'm looking for. So I figured I'd ask on the forums, is there anybody who uses extra-weapon mods who just happens to know of a totally awesome gun they could recommend that I could use to keep my silly old character from using two-handed weapons like small-caliber pistols? What I'm looking for... - A two-handed submachinegun, preferably one that looks ugly and utilitarian like the ingame 9mm SMG, but basically anything that isn't sleek and matte-black will do. If it's based on a real-world gun that takes 9mm ammunition, that's a bonus. If it has the meshes to support a silencer and expanded ammo, that's a huge bonus. If you can think of two guns that fit the bill, that's great as there's also Vance's SMG to think of. If there's nothing you can think of, a one-handed machinepistol like a Micro-Uzi or something would be an excellent consolation prize. - A two-handed submachinegun, preferably one that looks black and sleek and militaristic like the ingame 10mm SMG. If it's based on a real-world gun that takes .40cal (or close to it) ammunition, that would be a bonus. If it had the meshes to support extended mags that would be a huge bonus. - A two-handed side-by-side sawed-off double shotgun. I realise this one is the least likely to exist, since a double shotgun is a boring mundane weapon to most modders, and there's no need for another one in the game ; and sawed-off shotguns are used one-handed in movies so often I think that's how most people assume they're supposed to be used (lots of sprained wrists out there, I bet). I would be overjoyed, however, if somebody knew of a sawed-off that actually supports two-handed use. Thanks in advance if anybody reads through all this and takes the trouble to reply with a reccomendation or two... I've been trawling through the Nexus for the past two days, so it would be so much help to me if somebody who already knows of a gun or two that'd suit my needs could let me know where to find them.
  2. Actually it's FO3 that's wrong there. Radioactive fallout can't pollute water for very long before it decays. The real long-term hazards would be anything made of metal (like that great big metal aircraft carrier that Project Purity "experts" decided would be a wicked-awesome place to start rebuilding society from)..
  3. Forgive the dumb question, but blender and a .bsa extractor are the tools needed for such a job, yes? It's not possible to do via the GECK?
  4. Hi. I'm trying to make some containers using meshes from movable objects (the meshes used on jars of powder, ammunition, moveable explosives crates and doctor's bags, among others), but I can't get them to behave as static objects. They bounce and fall all over the place when bumped. I've messed around with all the settings in the container editing box, but can't figure out what exactly decides whether they're static or movable ; is it a setting on the .nif file itself? Will I need to use blender and a .bsa extractor to end up with a static container that looks like a cardboard box of 10mm bullets?
  5. When I tried uploading a file it asked me to make sure I've read and understood the rule changes from may 1st, but the link just took me to the main forum section and I couldn't find any fileshare rules.
  6. Thanks, so this means if I download blender and nifskope I can export the Breeze UV onto a non-breeze mesh (w/ all the original artists permissions of course) and then use the breeze textures without requiring any modelling/texturing/artistic talent whatsoever? I'm finding tutorials now that I have a vague idea of what to be searching for.
  7. Hi everyone. I searched as many keywords as I could think of here and on google but came up short. The question I have is why do Type3 textures work perfectly on such a huge range of Type3 meshes (for instance the new hugely buffed Military/Athlete one) but textures made for breeze simply don't work on non-breeze meshes? Is there a simple way of converting a made-for-breeze texture onto another mesh, or does it require some pretty skilled artwork? All the tutorials I found on converting for meshes were about converting armour. Any help would be greatly appreciated ; I'm trying to make a tattoo parlour mod.
  8. Can anybody recommend me a body replacer that makes a character look dirty with soot or engine grease, as if they've been doing some hard labour with engines?
  9. I'm trying to have the player rescue somebody from a stockade, which I duplicated from the Pitt and placed in a new area. Everything works fine as far as the scriptpackage to make the NPC stay in stockade, but whenever the PC speaks they immediately stand up and turn around to say hello. I can't figure out what exactly stops them from leaving their stockaded pose. Any ideas?
  10. I want to make a container that looks like the STATIC coffee urn, but I can't figure out how to set a container to have a vanilla game mesh used by a static object. Do I need some sort of conversion program?
  11. They get kicked out at sixteen. Assuming an even ratio of men to women, every girl has to pump out two viable children before she turns sixteen, just to keep the population stable, and the good breeders will have to make up the balance for all the girls who die in childbirth, miscarry, fail to be impregnated, or produce sickly soon-to-be-dead infants. Don't forget that it's been a closed community for two-hundred years, they're now all closely interrelated and all sexual couplings would be heavily incestious, adding more complications to the health and fertilty of any offspring they produce. Now add in the female non-birthing fatality rates from slaver/mutant depridation, accidents and illness. The average girl who survives to puberty and is capable of bearing offspring would now be expected to make upwards of a dozen viable babies before she hits sixteen. Sound possible? They could start breeding the second they hit puberty, sure, but if they're younger than thirteen or fourteen the chances of those kids (or the mother) surviving are close to nil, even without factoring in the hygeinic conditions of lamplight and the average competancy of uneducated 9-year old brats as ob/gyns (that is to say ; not very competant). Also, something important we forgot ; they're all stupid useless kids who don't know anything, and would have died within two days of being left without adult supervision, because they're all stupid useless kids who don't know anything.
  12. Ignoring lore or not, I still don't understand what you mean by making female mutants. Do you want to put boobs on them? Tone down the muscles? Long hair and lipstick? High heels and prada handbags?
  13. That's okay, I have one made up already where they'll shoot you for it. A beating and robbery is a touch more complicated, but it could certainly be done. I've already made a script that will have an NPC knock you unconcious and take your stuff (no animation for the taking stuff part, unfortunately. It just disappears five seconds after being knocked out. I'm no great hand at putting in idles). The problem would be in assigning the beating/robbery script to the nearest PittGuard, which I'm not sure is altogether possible. It could be assigned to a specific guard in the cell the player is in, but that could result in having him/her run across the entire cell to reach the player. Leaving out the beating and assigning it to the guy who gives you the steelyard jobs might be a good idea, he could confiscate your weapons as you walk in and hold onto them for you until you're ready to go back into the steelyard (or until you're emancipated). Since he actually GIVES you weapons to use in the steelyard, he alone shouldn't panic when he sees you return with one. But anyways, I just want a zipgun to complete this mod nicely.
  14. Oh wow, do women like, think about sex and stuff? I had no idea they even knew what it was. Next you'll be telling me they can vote, drive automobiles and have orgasms.
  15. Unless you're supremely skilled at setting up animations, yes. AP would be the best mod to copy from when you're trying to figure out how to lock two characters in place and play an animation. I'll redownloaded AP and see if I can't set up a working garotte script. The art, models and animations somebody else would have to do.
  16. FO2 were the same strain as FO1, which were sterile and sexless. Also, a lot of FO2 managed to ignore FO1 canon and was later apologised for by the devs. One could imagine that Marcus's comments after visiting the New Reno brothel are intended as a wry sarcastic lament to his lost sexuality, that the married supermutant couples are merely attempting to live out their percieved gender-roles in a loving but sexless imitation of a human marriage, and that the arm-wrestling bondage-mutant had ways to amuse himself by sexually humiliating a person without actually needing a functional set of genitals. Many sadistic sex-offenders in real life have been impotent men, after all.
  17. But there already are she-mutants running around, they just don't have any recognisable non-vestigial sex organs.
  18. Oh sure, the slavers are bad people. Comes with the trade. But has any settlement outside the Pitt and Paradise Falls shown even the slightest promise of advancement? There's no primary production. Nobody is planting crops. And raising brahmin? Megaton has a single brahmin, and Arefu is an isolated no-future dirtheap so incapable of defending itself that pack of clinically insane retards managed to slaughter their whole stock without the slightest resistance. The Anchorage Memorial, likewise, was unable to defend itself against a half-baked plot by external enemies. The Brotherhood of Steel and the Regulators blithely ignore those settlements with promise of a future, in favour of wasting time, resources and manpowder defending those that don't contribute anything to the advancement of the human race, and when the scavenge dries up, the Brotherhood and Regulators will die out just as the Megatoners and Rivet citizens do, either starving to death together, or fracturing into small gangs of raiders that get smaller and smaller as the available loot diminishes and the fighting over it becomes fiercer. The Pitt is the Capital Wasteland's only hope for advancement. While you could compare them unfavourably to the slavers of Babylonian or Roman times, remember that the Capital Wasteland, despite the abundance of technology and scavenge, is millenia behind even the earliest of civilisations. They're living in the mentality of the pre-agricultural neolithic, hunting, gathering, raiding... with absolutely no thought of advancing, or creating a sustainable way of life. Leaving aside the fact that a few centuries after the war there should be literally nothing left to scavenge, you can be sure that eventually all those Pork'n'Beans and InstaMashes will be consumed. And then what happens? Well, R.I.P Man. Born - 200,000 BC Died - 199,999 BC
  19. A whole class of player-only ligature weapons could be feasable. When equipped, you get a 'strangle' option when sneak-activating somebody who hasn't detected you, it disables player and victims movement, plays a pair of idles, one animation of strangling and one of being strangled, and after the timer goes for 30 or 45 seconds the victim dies. Perfect for sneaking up on a single isolated enemy, worthless if he has any friends around. Maybe you could use a FOSE keybinding as an abort key, in case his friend wanders around the corner. I'd suggest trying it out with vanilla's leather belt, and if you can get that working, move onto a range of more lethal weapons like steel cable and piano wires (that lower the animation timer). If it works, the system could be expanded to include a throat-slitting animation for knives. I'd suggest talking to JoshNZ (maker of Animated Prostitution) about this. The sex scenes in AP that lock the player/NPC into place and play out an animation would make a perfect foundation to build this from.
  20. Slavery isn't such a simple good/evil either-or situation when the victims are starving, hunted by cannibals and murderers, and scavenging finite resources, with absolutely no provisions to support themselves once those resources run out. It could be argued, and argued well, that slavery is the only stable foundation with which civilisation, social order and a reasonable standard of living in the capital wasteland could ever be rebuilt. The only settlements with any potential for growth and self-sufficiency, are Paradise Falls and The Pitt. The rest are just clutches of maggots, feeding off the corpse of the old world, and never once stopping to wonder what will happen when that corpse is finally consumed. If it wasn't for prehistoric slavery dragging our species out of the paleolithic, we'd even now be living the most primitive, meagre, and violent lives imaginable, eking out a miserable and short existance as hunter-gatherers, with an average life expectancy of (no joke), eighteen years. So, congratulations. You crippled any hope of peace, prosperity and order in the Capital Wasteland for at least another century or two. You cut down, without a thought, the only fledgling lynchpin of a sustainable future for the human race, dooming everyone in the Capital Wasteland to an extended Dark Age. Sustainable mycoculture will not be developed. Brahmin-husbandry will not be expanded. A workable apparatus of a benevolent nationstate will not be established, and a martial arm of that apparatus will not be protecting the general populace from all manner of murder, rape, and tortures most foul. Thanks to you, untold generations of future wastelanders who might have lived well into middle-age in relative comfort and security will instead live short and horrific lives of abject desperation and misery, only to die in their mid-teens of starvation, malnutrition, infection, disease, wanton murder, or predation from animals which are now clearly and unarguably far higher up on the foodchain than humanity, and unlikely to be ousted anytime soon, thanks largely to you. So, yeah... sucks how the game isn't giving you more good karma.
  21. It's small, yes. But it bends perpendicular to itself and it has protruding parts ; hardly the right shape for hiding in your nether regions, regardless of your gender. Furthermore it'd be a pretty rare weapon to find out in the wasteland. For both post-apocalyptic flavour and body-cavity smuggling potential, I'd heavily favour a crappy old zip-gun over it. But anyways if anyone wants to give me an indication they're willing to start working on a zip-gun model, I'll start scripting up a good place to use it. The picture I linked to is a pretty sophisticated example, the bolt-action and spring are quite uneccessary. All it'd have to look like is a small metal tube that fits reasonably into an existing weapon animation.
  22. Ever found it weird that Pitt Guards have no issues with a slave walking around with an assault rifle? I want to start on a mod that will cause Pitt Guards to shoot you down like a dog if you're still a slave and equip any weapon except the auto-axe (and variants), or if you have anywhere in your inventory a gun too large to conceal. If you find an assault rifle in the steelyards, you must use it in the steelyards and leave it in the steelyards. I want to change the fighting arena to melee weapons only. I was massively disappointed at Bethesda's decision to take something that had the potential to be a Thunderdome-style gladiatorial arena and filling it with guns. And most of all, I want to change the concealed pistol you take in with you. A .32 handgun is 'concealable' enough if you're trying to walk past a nightclub bouncer, but not if you're being looted, stripped naked and then dressed in a different outfit. I want to change the gun to something that can be kept hidden, even by a naked person. You can, um... use your imagination for that. This is where I'll need help, and I can't do art stuff at all. Can anybody make a model for a small "Zip Gun", or pipe pistol? http://www.leelofland.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/homemadezipgun.jpg It shouldn't be especially hard for a modeller to make, if they already know what they're doing. It's basically just a barrel, with some sort of detonator at the end. Could, theoretically at least, be hidden in a place the Pitt Guards might not want to look.
  23. Marijuana is extinct in the wasteland, IIRC. However, get BLTC (linked to above) which adds a host of new chems, along with visual and sound effects. Then get the chem den mini-addon ( http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2529 ) by the same author, and there's a small unmarked quest to obtain the last surviving packet of Mary Jane Cigarettes. They increase your charisma or speech/barter a tad, increase rad resistance (maybe the author didn't understand why exactly leukemia sufferers are prescribed cannabis), and adds the 'Euphoria' effect, which makes all the colours more vivid and cartoonish.
