  1. Which part of Aus are you living in? (QLD, NSW, etc) Prices of components seem to fluctuate between states imo. For that budget I would get... -i5 2400 (not the 'S' version.) -Either a HD6870, HD6850 or HD6790 depending on budget. -The cheapest lga1155 h67 motherboard you can find. (asrock, gigabyte, ecs, etc are cheap and well known brands.) -6gb of NON ECC DDR3 1333 or 1600 ram depending on budget. -Reuse case, psu, hard drive, dvd drive, etc from current computer. To make it even cheaper, try to get the components from online retailers you trust, and remember to take the cost of shipping into account as well.
  2. Here's my current system. Chassis: Raidmax Storm MB: Asus Sabertooth 55i CPU: Intel Core i7 860 @ 3.8ghz + CM Hyper 212+ cooler. GPU's: Gigabyte GTX580 RAM: A-Data XPG 2x2gb HD: Seagate Barracuda 1tb PSU: HEC Xpower 780w Monitor: 17" Viewsonic
  3. Its to do with the "Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa" archive not being read/located/loaded/whatever by Skyrim. Download BSA Unpacker, extract the whole Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa archive, put the extracted contents in your data folder and play the game. :)
  4. I don't think there's anything wrong with a misread card, as long as it still has the performance of the 6950 its still good I suppose. :)
  5. If you marry a mercenary you still have the option of hiring him/her and all the follower dialogues are retained.
  6. That's because your laptop isn't exactly a "very powerful gaming computer" IMO. The GT555M isn't a high-end video card to begin with and a 2.2ghz quad isn't exactly fast by todays standards. No offense. :)
  7. I live in Markarth. Quite a large player house there too. :)
  8. In my situation, my HDD actually causes more bottlenecks than my gtx580 and i7 860 @3.8ghz. If my PC was doing something like a defrag, backup service or heavy downloading my fps in Skyrim would cripple down to like 15fps from my regular 40 to 60's on ultra.
  9. I find Skyrim alright my on 580 I guess, decent fps 40 to 60 with everything on ultra. The only time I experience some slight slowdowns was when entering Markarth or when my HDD was doing a defrag or something useless like that.
  10. I don't understand whats wrong with having anime, emo, furry, whatever mods. It's the diversity of mods that made games like Oblivion vastly popular to almost every genre even after it's expiry date. It's just like asking an english teacher that she is able to teach any subject but english just because you dislike it. (If you get what I mean.)
  11. OMFG looks like Los Santos, my favorite city in SA.
  12. DO WANT! Interactive projectors ftw!
  13. I agree, the processor is good but the videocard is slooow. And 3gb on a gt545? WTF was the gpu manufacturer thinking? The gt545 is barely able to utilize 1gb most of the time yet alone 3gb (unless you're running multiple high resolution monitors, but even then 3gb is still excessive). Swap the gt545 out for a gtx560 ti, hd6950, or equivalent. You WON'T regret it.
  14. Which I think it means that the computer created/processed invalid/corrupt data and Windows didn't detect it. Thus, causing the kernel to become unstable and leading to the BSOD. I don't know an exact way to correct it but I suggest doing a system restore to a point in time when the BSOD's didn't happen and see if it goes away.
  15. Judging that it only has a 300watt power supply, I'd recommend a 9800gt green edition which only consumes 75watts and doesn't require an internal 6pin power connector. If he wants something with a bit more kick, I'd recommend a gts450 but the downside is he would need to upgrade to a slightly higher wattage power supply. Personally I'd recommend a power supply with 500w minimum but a decent 450w unit may work just fine.
  16. Will there be washrooms with the houses? I hate it when you buy an expensive mansion and realizing there isn't a place to take a dump.
  17. What brand is that psu? I bought a hec 780watt psu thinking I could future proof my pc with it, but upon researching on the web it's actually a 600watt psu with overload protection up to 780watts. >:( Most budget manufacturers don't even label their psu's right.
  18. Lol I remember when somehow windows update screwed up my win 7 installation to a point it kept restarting when it came to the windows startup screen. System restore fixed all that.
  19. Except for the brand, clock speed, memory and pcb.:turned: Eg, a reference gtx560 with 1gb vram can be sli'd with an oc'd gtx560 with 2gb ram and a non reference pcb.
  20. What model i7 is it? 920, 875k, 2600k? But for now, I'd go with the X6 + HD6450.
