I am scratching my head trying to figure out what is causing a crash in Pinewatch. I can enter the cabin fine, but as soon as I go downstairs [where the passage is] Skyrim just shuts itself down. Basic System Specs: Win 8 x64 8GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6570 with 2GB VRAM Load Order: I have had random crashes in other places, but I haven't been able to repeat them [the dangers of the wonderful game engine and using mods]. General game graphic settings:Textures: MediumRadial Blur: LowShadows: High (shadows look really ugly set lower than this)Decal Quantity: MediumFXAA: EnabledAA: OffAntistropic Filtering: OffVsync and Triple Buffering forced on in video card control panelDefault LOD/draw distances Any ideas out there? Is there a mod conflict I am missing? (entirely possible, I try to research mod compatibility before using them but sometimes the information just isn't there) I don't have any mod that directly touches Pinewatch besides the leveled lists for armor/clothing (Cloak mods, Frostfall, WIC, and Immersive Armors) so I am unsure why it would choose that location to consistently crash. Edit: As a side note my load order is sorted with BOSS - only one mod is not recognized by it [Hunter & Ranger Crafting, a mod that adds some more bows and the like suitable for hunters [fairly balanced at that, not easy to craft]]

To craft the cloaks from CoS using the latest version you need an item in your inventory. If you look in the Misc section on the tanning rack you will see a recipe for a Nordic Tailoring guide book ( you can also buy this book from Belethor in Whiterun ), with this book in your inventory the crafting recipes shoulds how up in the rack under Misc. Games crashing before starting usually means that required dependencies of mods are missing (eg: a master file not existing, very bad load order [usually caused by not understanding load order and just installing mods willy nilly], etc)

Someone please copy/paste me this .ini?
carlosjuero replied to DingerDan's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Here is the [Display] section of the INI file with absolute lowest value settings [via launcher and in game] - honestly I don't think it is going to help your issue though, crashing when trying to modify the INI file even through the launcher is a symptom of larger issues. Someone please copy/paste me this .ini?
carlosjuero replied to DingerDan's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Yeah it crashes when I try to change them. Like when I try to save the settings. And yeah I've tried that, but again, it doesn't set them to the very lowest that way. It still has large texture sizes, good shadows etc and that's what's bringing the damn IGP to it's knees Odd... is the ini file read only by any chance? -

carlosjuero replied to DingerDan's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Is it crashing when you try to change graphics options in game, or via the launcher? If in game then just open the Oblivion Launcher, click Options, and select the Very Low option button. -
Odd things can happen when you over write files - is the economy mod loading after OOO? If it is then it is likely over writing the OOO changes in memory and still calling for the new meshes/textures.

Shivering Isles.esp Nowhere To Be Found

I believe that, by saying "move", the OP meant they would uninstall and reinstall to a new location outside of Program Files -
Shivering Isles.esp Nowhere To Be Found
carlosjuero replied to runRiderun's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I believe the Nexus has a rule against distributing any base game content [which is covered by copyright/DME laws] - this would include the .esp file I believe; Also the .esp is, as I pointed out in my post, just a pointer [that needs to be activated just the same] - the main Oblivion.esm gets modified by the expansion installer - so just sending the .esp file would not work if the expansion is not installing properly [which it sounds like it is not] -
Shivering Isles.esp Nowhere To Be Found
carlosjuero replied to runRiderun's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Windows 7 eh... must ask this, are you running the Shivering Isles installer as Admin? DLCShiveringIsles.esp is just a pointer file, for some reason they decided to modify the main Oblivion.esm file with the expansion instead of just adding & activating the .esp :/ - UAC could throw a monkey wrench into the works sometimes. Next, a suggestion: Uninstall [again, I know its irritating, but needed]. Remove all traces of the game [ you have outlined you know the basics of doing so already, no need to tell you what to do I think ]. Re-install the game, but do not install to the default location. This is important. Install to a location outside of Program Files (x86) [eg: C:\Games\Oblivion or something like that]. This will help get by most of the UAC annoyances - run all installers as Admin [base Game + SI + KotN] to ensure that registry entries and whatnot get added properly. Let me know if any of this helps at all. -
That is odd - I use OOO with no issues. OOO does, however, touch most of the containers in the game - how are you installing it? Manually or via OMOD? If you are doing it manually try downloading the OMOD version with the latest update and installing it that way. Also ensure that you have Archive Invalidated enabled [via OBMM for the easiest method]. Also I suggest you download a mod called "Form ID Finder" from here on the nexus - it will allow you to pinpoint exactly what mod/file might be having issues (read the documentation for the mod, it requires OBSE and has a key command shortcut that will debug print all data for any item you select. This is very helpful when troubleshooting things like missing meshes - I had to use it once to find out why a Bandit was wailing at me with a big Missing Texture Exclamation Mark [was funny for a few seconds though ;)] and found out I had forgotten to install a BSA file for a mod [doh])
-
First step is to disable all mods and start a "clean" game - see if the problem exists with no mods enabled; if it does then you may have to re-install Oblivion as key assets were deleted [or references changed in a way they should not have been]. If the problem goes away with a "clean" game, try re-enabling mods one by one [pay attention to load order and Archive Invalidation] to see if it comes back and which mod causes it.

Thank you so much for posting your solution! I started to run across this bug just today [first Thief character I have played to date, got tired of being a heavy armor warrior type [or battlemage type]]. Was going a little crazy trying to figure out what was bugged, didn't occur to me that the last time I was in that ship I hadn't installed the UOP Hotfix. Came here to the forums to see if anyone could help with the issue and the first post Search pulled up was a solution! Heh, pays to search :)

Problems with Fallout Mod Manager
carlosjuero replied to W4Nk4's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
In regards to the text I have bolded: You DO NOT want to just cut/paste the steamapps folder willy nilly! This can have Bad [capital B intentional] effects. The most surefire [and safest] method to move your steam install location to somewhere "safer" than Program Files [/ Program Files (x86)] is to backup your installed Steam games with the included tool [File menu -> Backup], uninstall Steam, then reinstall Steam to the location you wish the games to go to [eg: C:\Steam]. Advanced users can use Microsoft's Junction utility to create symbolic links when running out of space on Steam's install drive, but you should never under any circumstances just cut/copy and paste an installed application folder - you never know what the resulting problems that arise may be. -
FOMM Modding with Steam F:NV
carlosjuero replied to Jeckunev's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
It sounds like one of your mods is having problems - did you install a UI mod and maybe miss a step/file? As far as I know the Steam version of F:NV has no issues w/ mods or FOMM -
Unstable fallout 3 modded wanderers edition
carlosjuero replied to LordSms's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
One glaring Issue I see right off the bat is that you have both FWE Followers Enhanced plugins active. You can only use one or the other [since you have Broken Steel you need to use the Broken Steel one] - if you used the FOMOD installer with FOMM then it would have told you during options selection [though, for me, it still activated both - as well as plugins I didn't choose to activate like Alternate Travel]
