Hi there, i got another question on this topic. How does Homemaker compare to Workshop rearranged and how compatible/redundant are they to another? Is WR essentially a full replacement for HM or does it lack some crucial elements in comparison (which other building mods cannot provide)? Can/should one use both or are the benefits too lackluster and one of them suffices fully? I know WR adds a lot more than mere settlement objects, it edits a lot of the existing ones to make them more practical to use etc. My goal is to remove as much redundancy of items as possible and streamline my building menus.

So, i was wondering. We can build powerlines for electricity and anchor them anywhere with conduits, yet there are no ropes or chains which could be used to suspend platforms etc. I don't know how the powerlines are generated by the engine, but if they are merely ordinary objects made of polygons painted black, then shouldn't it be possible to also make ropes and chains the same way by simply adding a repeating texture and some universal anchor points or hooks? Anybody already looked into the matter or wanna have a go at it?

One weapon i could imagine right from the start would be an institute subdue beam weapon which simply applies the perk effect through a non-damaging beam pistol with limited range, maybe especially suited for synths to make reclamation easier?. Or maybe a (silent) microwave pistol (maybe based on the gamma ray gun) which projects invisible microwaves and overheats the brain of the target, shutting it down and making the (organic) target lose consciousness. Or a special flare gun ammo which shoots a battery powered taser round which sticks to the target and appllies incapacitating electroshocks for a certain time. Would make the flare gun actually a useful and valid option. A classic taser/stun upgrade for any melee weapon should pose no problem whatsoever.

One thing that strikes me is the apparent complete lack of non-lethal weapons to simply knock-out and subdue enemies without killing them. Where are the tasers, the rubber bullets, the tranquilizer darts, the shock batons, the EMP guns which only temporarily stun robots/synths instead of destroying them? Where are the slave collars which permanently turn people/cratures docile? Isn't it strange that even the Institute seemingly hasn't really developed any non-lethal weaponry yet, to collect specimens unharmed? Why not just modify the Institute weapons to also have a stun option like Star Trek phasers? I mean, it's surely great that there is now a perk which gives one the ability to subdue certain enemies through intimidation, but no non-lethal weapon options for everyone to use? You cannot even just knock people out using a simple baton. Why are there no flashbang grenades to temporarily paralyze enemies, or tranquilizer gas grenades to knock them unconscious? Anyone wanna change that?

Contraptions Elevator in standard wall size
Oblivionist replied to Pentegass's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
I too am still waiting for someone to tackle this issue. Also, i want an elevator which goes up to 10+ stories instead of just 4 max. Why couldn't Bethesda simply make an elevator from modular components, which you could stack like other building blocks? Only would need 3 separate objects, an elevator base, mid sections and a top section. The more mid sections you stack on top of the elevator base, the more buttons appear and the top section could be just like a roof tile you snap on top of the last mid section. This should be easily doable with some simple scripting. I mean, Wastland Workshop already gave us snappable conveyor belts, so why not simply apply the same principle to elevators? -
Med-Res Texture Mod based on new HD Texture Pack
Oblivionist replied to sven257's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
The main problem with the new HD textures DLC is, that the textures are mostly 4K, but the actual quality and detail difference to the standard textures are rather minimal (and sometimes they are even worse). Also, they seem to be quite badly optimized, as usual from Bethesda. So no matter what a capable modder could do to those HD-textures, it probably won't make them look much better. But one could optimize them greatly, to reduce filesize/VRAM usage at least. Mabye also add some more sharpness and definition to them. There is already a texture mod which does this to the vanilla textures. So applying the same proces to the HD textures should net some slightly better results. But no matter what, they will never look as good as properly modded hi-res textures, because the source material just doesn't provide the necessary detail. Compared to what capable modder texture artists can achieve, those Bethesda HD textures are actually shameful. I am just waiting to see if someone is willing to put in the effort to salvage this mess and produce something actually worthwile installing from it. Maybe some of those DLC textures could be used to complete the already existing HD texture replacements into one big, comprehensive texture overhaul.- 1 reply

Thanks for the info, but i am looking for an actual turret, which simply utilizes robot parts, but should have a distinct turret aesthetic and function, whilst also being somewhat sturdier than a mobile robot. Something, which could pose a serious threat to even larger enemy forces and especially big and tough enemies like Supermutant behemoths and Deathclaws. Something you would put up to deny an enemy a larger area or secure one approach corridor against any type of threat the wasteland could offer. Something substantial. Something that would fit nicely on the castle or military Installations. Something no sane enemy in his right mind would dare to attack frontally without quite some heavy firepower, like powerarmor. Something with REAL deterrent potential and substantial defense value.

Well, i had this idea of more efficient and high tech settlement defense turrets. Basically, since regular turrets are rather fragile and vulnerable to snipers and heavy weapons, why not build a larger, heavier armored and armed turret? I thought of 3 possible versions: 1. Just a heavier armored auto turret with 2 or even 4 guns or missle launchers. Works just like a regular turret, but with more armor and firepower. 2. A mannable heavy stationary turret, basically a stationary power armor which can only rotate and tilt on the spot, equipped with heavy weapons on the sides like miniguns and missile launchers. comes with its own power supply. Maybe the ingame assets and mechanics from the vertibird mounted minigun could be utilized for this? Also, why are there no mannable stationary heavy weapons/machine gun mounts to build already? 3. Basically, simply the upper torso of a sentinel Robot mounted on a fixed base, with heavier armor and better cooling for sustained fire, including autonomous power supply. Behaves just like a regular armed Sentinel robot (maybe less verbose), but cannot move around on its own. Type 1 and 2 would require new models and maybe also animations, whilst type 3 should be entirely doable with modification of existing game assets. This would at last provide ample fortified defenses for high value settlements against even the worst threats the wasteland has to offer. Anyone up to the task?

Heya folks, nothing fancy i need, i am just looking for a buildable water tower (just like the one available with PROJECT COMMONWEALTH) and a construction crane (just like the one outside Vault 111) don't even need to have any functionality, just the models will do. The water tower should be of a smaller size that could supply a settlement the size of a fully rebuilt sanctuary. Also, some other larger (prewar) water/liquid tanks both vertival and horizontal would be rather useful. Because having a clean water reservoir is the most sensible thing in any wasteland settlement and without a construction crane, most larger structures are very hard or impossible to build and very heavy and bulky objects like buses and shipping containers are impossible to move (unless you use multiple guys in power armor), so fixing up prewar construction machines is a very practical thing to do if you plan on building some proper wasteland real estate. Actually, i want to place the crane on one of the artillery emplacements of the castle, aiding in all the heavy reconstruction and fortification work with tons of stone, steel and concrete being moved. Thinking of that, some general smaller construction site items like a cement mixer or smaller pulleys would also be quite useful for realism purposes. Is there any mod which adds such items or can anyone make one, maybe as Homemaker addon?
