  1. Well after countless hours of trying to figure out the issue, I was able to finally limit it down to a bad codec. I've uninstalled all my codecs and installed K-Lite which seemed to have fixed my issue(I've also done a full reinstallation of Oblivion). This also fixed my issue in Morrowind. Apparently the codec that caused the issue was the DVIX one. So if anyone has the same issue, try uninstalling it and install the K-Lite codec pack. I would like to thank Striker879 and everyone else who helped me get this issue resolved! You all were immensely helpful and I really appreciated the help.
  2. When I tried that it started stuttering pretty bad. Every few seconds I'd get periodic freezes for up to 2 seconds, making the game unplayable.
  3. Tried it didn't make any difference with the music track changes, still stutters horribly. I think it might be driver related tho, mainly due to me also getting it in Morrowind.
  4. Yeah scratch my previous assessment... after playing around with a test character for a bit, i noticed the stuttering also happens when any track changes. It was even more noticeable with Trifle. Besides disabling music I really don't know what else I could try.
  5. Yeah I've pretty much tried everything now, I've checked that tool but it didn't detect any broken codes :/. I also removed AC3Filter and it had no effect as well. The only thing I haven't tried yet is a reinstall of Oblivion and passably reinstalling Windows 7(which i really don't want to do at this point). The only thing that has helped was disabling the Music via the config file but I rather like the music in the background. I would just like to thank you for the help so far. EDIT: I've done some fiddling around with the Music folder. Apparently the game doesn't like loading ANYTHING from the Music/Battle folder. I've tried putting in dungeon music there and replacing it but it still stuttered on change. However when I emptied out the folder everything seemed to have been fine. Looks like there is something wrong with the way Oblivion changes the soundtrack for battle music.
  6. Microsoft IMA ADPCM CODEC Microsoft CCITT G.711 A-Law and u-Law CODEC Microsoft GSM 6.10 Audio CODEC Microsoft ADPCM CODEC Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (decode only) Decode AC3 and DTS audio Microsoft PCM Converter WMAudio Decoder DMO WMAPro over S/PDIF DMO WMSpeech Decoder DMO MP3 Decoder DMO Also have AC3Filter if that should make any difference. And Divix if that could also be an issue?
  7. iMaxImpactSoundCount is set to 32. I tried setting bDSoundHWAcceleration to 0 and it had to effect on the stutter. TBH a small stutter wouldn't be a problem but the game freezes for about 1.5 seconds each time the music track changes on combat start and end. EDIT: I tried lower the value from 32 to 24 and 16 and 8. No effect again :(
  8. I tried that but I haven't messed a lot with the INI file as I use Mod Organizers Ini Tweaks to modify it. Same result. This has been happening a very long time(I haven't played Oblivion in a few months). I just recently started re-installing everything with mod organizer and also been trying to fix that sound issue for a while now. The weird thing is, it only happens in Morrowind and Oblivion. No other Bethesda game(or other games in general) has such a bug for me(Tested Fallout 3 as well). And I have never had any sound issues with any other game besides those two with the stuttering when the music changes from exploration to combat (and back).
  9. 1. Desktop machine 2. Yes. I installed the game 2 years ago. And started using the headset about a year and a half ago.
  10. Yeah, i've tried it yesterday and it still pauses there. Is there maybe any mod/OBSE plugin that could fix it?
  11. I have it plugged in via the USB adapter. The sound quality was poorer without it.
  12. Tried it and the driver is apparently up to date :/ BTW The G430 headset also has a built in sound card, could that also be an issue?
  13. I've tried to let windows itself update the driver but it seems that its already up to date. My driver version is: 6.0.1.10200. I even disabled it and only kept my headphones enabled in the sound menu and it still seems to lag on combat start and end. I also checked the only option I have turned on is Loudness Equalization which i also turned on and off and it game the the same results.
  14. Ah sorry I haven't answered quicker. I'm using a Logitech G430 headset and have all other options in the Sound panel disabled. My system specs if you need them: i5-3550 SPU @3.30GHz ~3.7GHz GeForce 770 16GB RAM @Forli: No I'm not using any custom music or other music mods. The odd thing is also, this happens in Morrowind as well.
